Chapitre 138: Grandpa Canyon 1
Today was supposed to be the last day of serious training before the tournament but things didn't go according to plan. Till now Aoki and Misty have been training in the wilderness for days away from the settlement.
Aoki needed less sleep and rest because of the vast energy reserves but the same cannot be said for Misty.
She was overworking herself and had large dark circles under her eyes. After a lot of persuasions, she agreed to stop training after today as it was affecting her health negatively.
During the afternoon, when all the training was done, Pokemon had gathered for their training.
Aoki wrote the names of all the Pokemon in small paper bits and selected one of them randomly and the name that came was Shelgon.
That was the beginning of a devastating battle.
The battle was held in the wild area instead of the dimension as Aoki had reached near the Canyon so the number of trees that can burn is less.
Normally Shelgon could not stand anyone up to the team after everyone reached elite rank so to give somewhat a fair battle, Aoki gave him the boost from dark aura making him reach the elite rank.
The battle pushed Shelgon to his absolute limit and made him so tired that he could not move for a few hours.
In the battle, the Pokemon didn't hold back and used their full power against Shelgon who kept spamming big moves like Outrage, Dragon Rush, Fire Blast, Hyperbeam, Outrage, etc.
As Clefable could completely suppress Clefable Aoki ensured that she could not set up Misty terrain or even if it was set up to remove its area by completely destroying the area.
Charizard and Pidgeot were already strong enough on their own but when they corporate, they can create a sea of flames.
There was Vintreebel who didn't attack directly but made different types of traps or moves that showy chipped away Shelgon's health like Leech seed, Poison powder, stun spore, and sweet scene.
Nidoking didn't attack from the distance but in Close combat, he was best.
As he was close the moves like Earthquake and Eathpower were pretty much impossible to dodge.
Gyarados spammed didn't attack first and kept using Dragon Dance to boost his power to the level and unleashed the icy hell on Shelgon.
Lastly, Darkrai was another monster that was most annoying and difficult to deal with.
With his strong power of hypnosis and devastating dream Eater, Energy of Chaos charged Shadow balls, the multi-elemental moves that Aoki taught him made him a near-impossible target to beat for Shelgon.
The match ended with Shelgon's winning not even a single battle even with all the commands from Aoki.
Still, Shelgon lasted for a long time.
Every Pokemon is an expert in their respective elemental coats like Charizard in Fire coat and Dragon coat, Pidgeot in wind and Steel coat, Victreevel in the grass and poison coat, etc.
But out of all of them, Shelgon had mastery over multiple coats like the Dragon Coat, Fire Coat, Water Coat, Rock coat, etc making his type disadvantage lessen a lot.
This was also for the fact that out of all the Pokemons in Aoki's team, Shelgon had the highest potential and talent.
He would be forced to be reckoned with when he reached his final stage.
To make the battle as fruitful as possible, his Pokemon could attack him too so he had to use Aura coat and Aura Sphere powers to defend and attack.
He not only had to watch out for his own safety but also keep commanding his Pokemon.
When he tried that style of the battle for the first time, he had all four of his limbs broken.
If not for the power of Aura and Celfable's cheat-like healing power, it would have taken him some time to move again.
At the end of every battle, the complete area would be demolished along with a lot of blood stains on the ground.
If not for such strong healers, all the Pokemon would have died or been permanently disabled due to the level of injuries they take.
All these battles pushed all his Pokemon to their limits which made him more used to battles and used their powers more freely.
Unfortunately, that battle was not enough for Shelgon to reach Elite rank so he needed to keep working hard as he had promised Aoki to reach Elite rank and become a Salamance before the tournament starts.
Shelgon had reached the point that he could not wait any longer to evolve and fly making his desire to its limits.
After evolving to Salamance, he would be officially reaching the rank of Pseudo Legendary becoming another powerhouse.
As Shelgon didn't reach the elite rank, he could be doing the same battle every day till the tournament starts.
Although Darkrai, Pidgeot, Gyarados, and Clefable didn't like fighting much, they would do anything to help their companions.
Unlike them, Charizard, Victreebel, and Nidoking were battle maniacs who will take all the chances they get to fight and Shelgon was becoming a battle maniac like them too.
Aoki was pretty sure after evolution to Salamance, his rank would be second or even first in the squad in terms of power.
"I can't wait "
Last time Lance's name became famous due to the tournament and this time, it was Aoki's turn.
Aoki was eager to know what the rewards were this time. Sometimes they give out a choice to pick any royal starter, sometimes Dragon Bloodline Pokemons or even a pseudo legendary.
Aoki was excited to meet Cynthia too. Although they talk regularly, meeting her was a different matter.

It was night time so Aoki started setting up his tent and dinner set.
It was time for Misty to return but it was Slowking that returned carrying Misty with Psychic.
"What happened to her?" Aoki asked to see her condition.
She was in deep sleep, her clothes were torn, her body was covered with mud and dirt, and finally, her hair was messed up as if she got an electric shock.
"She overworked herself too much and got careless and got under the effect of some attacks," Slowking said.
"Sigh! What do I do with her…."
Aoki washed up Misty and gave her fresh new clothes. As Aoki was busy Clefable and the others prepared dinner for everyone.
She woke for a few minutes to eat and returned to sleep immediately after.
"Sigh, she is trying to copy me again…
I have hinted to her multiple times that to copying me or other trainers wouldn't work unless she creates her originality.
The sooner she learns..the better it is"

"WOOOO~" Misty shouted cheerfully at the top of her lungs as Pidgeot flew at her top speed.
The pleasure and thrill Misty got from flying so high and fast was a new feeling for her.
She has tried flying on Pidgeot before but only at a low height and speed so the current situation was a new experience for her.
"I think you should get a flying Pokemon as well, once you get hooked to the feeling there is no going back "
Aoki said as he sat on Charizard who flew beside Pidgeot.
"Whaat ?! I can't hear you !! " Misty screamed again.
"Fine...I will talk after going down."
Misty's energy and stamina had surely increased a lot. After tiring herself out to such a degree and still being energetic by morning is a miracle in itself.
Darkrai came out of Aoki's shadow and sat behind him.
"You like the scenery?" Aoki asked
"This revives some old memories," Darkrai said.
"Forget about the past and try making new memories old man," Charizard said with a smirk.
Darkrai being called an old man has become a joke among the team due to his age. As Darkrai doesn't mind being called that so Charizard and Nidoking always call him old man even after getting rebuked by Clefable for being rude.
Currently, they were flying over the famous and treacherous grandpa canyon. This is a large wild area that lies before Fuchsia city filled with rocks, some sparse vegetation, and a deep river flowing through it.
It is always recommended to use a flying or water pokemon to cross over the canyon due to its dangerous path.
This area is also home to a lot of rock-ground Pokemons as well as Fearow and Dodrio nests.
There are a lot of caves among the large rocks which is rumored to be an infinite maze.
Aoki took out his Pokedex and marked it on location on it. There was a chance that the events from the anime will be happening as just a day ago the news of a fossil sight was released a day ago.
In this trainers were free to keep the fossil they found or get a Pokemon revived from the fossil if it was complete by paying a fee.
Looking ahead Aoki found the location they were supposed to reach. It was a giant hole but as they were flying pretty high Aoki could not find the number of people present there.
"Charizard, Pidgeot go down.
We are near "
Charizard and Pidgeot flapped their wings and lowered their height taking away Misty's fun time.
"I think you should get a flying Pokemon too. A Pidgeot or Fearow would be nice. Or you could get a Pelipper or Mantine if you go to the Hoen region in the future. Both of them are water/flying and can carry your weight. " Aoki said.
"I will think about it. " Misty said looking ahead.
"Hey look below us, isn't that Brock" Misty pointed out.
Aoki looked down towards the river and saw a small inflatable boat moving forward. In the boat three people could be seen sitting, two guys and one girl; one of the two boys was Brock so the other was most probably Ash.
"Charizard go towards that boat "
With Aoki's command, Pidgeot and Charizard lowered their altitude to go near the boat. As they went lower Aoki could see some more people riding Pokemon like Nidorino and Rhyhorn on the land moving towards the excavation site.
One of them was a big car filled with a lot of women being driven by a boy of age not less than Aoki.
Back to the main topic.
The people on the boat looked up as they got a shadow and became stunned for a moment. Why would they not be a giant Charizard and a golden Pidgeot was flying over them?
"Hey, Brock long time no see," Aoki said as Charizard lowered his height to match the boat's height. While Pidgeot lowered her height towards the opposite end.
Brock came out of his shock seeing the familiar faces.
"It's been a while Aoki, Misty since we last met. " Brock said observing the two Pokemon.
Aoki looked closely at the boat and found that it was being pulled by a Squirtle and a Starmie.
As for the people in the boat, first was a cute girl who had brown hair along with a few shades of green and a Pichu on her shoulder.
She was professor Oak's Granddaughter, Daisy Oak.
The second was a black-haired boy wearing a white/red cap with a Pikachu on his lap.
He was Ash Ketchum, the protagonist of the original Pokemon anime series. He immediately took out his Pokedex and scanned Charizard and Pidgeot.
"Is that a shiny Pidgeot ?! " Ash asked excitedly.
"Shiny Pidgeots are pale in color, not Golden. This is something entirely different. "Daisy answered.
"So the small Charmander and Pidgeotto I saw months ago became such large Pokemons huh," Brock said.
"Hey, Brock ! got a girlfriend yet? " Misty asked sarcastically.
Hearing that colors faded from Brock's face as if Misty had stuck his hidden wound.
"I…I am just waiting for the perfect woman"
"Excuses! This guy had already been rejected multiple times over the time I have been traveling with him. " said Daisy with a snorty tone.
Her statement made Brock's wound even worse.
"I am Daisy Oak by the way, nice to meet you two. Brock sometimes talks about you two. " Daisy said as her Pichu greeted them.
Her eyes contained a glimpse of arrogance as she looked at Aoki.
"Don't worry Brock, you will get a girl who likes you soon, don't lose hope" Ash comforted Brock.
"Hey, my name is Ash Ketchum nice to meet you.." His eyes contained purity, excitement, and awe which was different from Daisy's.
The level of purity in his eyes was very rare to see.
"You two are Pokemon trainers, right? let's have a battle !!"
