Chapitre 4: Earning money and wrong target (chapter 4)

New York City sprawled with ceaseless activity, particularly in the downtown area where law enforcement turned a blind eye to the urban hustle. Adam navigated through such neighborhoods, blending in as just another face in the crowd. He wasn't some affluent target ripe for a robbery; he was just another unfortunate kid in the vast tapestry of New York. However, his normalcy was only surface-deep, as Adam was beginning to realize he possessed a perception beyond the ordinary.

"What the fuck," he exclaimed, utterly bewildered. The world now presented itself differently, as if a third eye had opened, revealing a spectrum of previously unseen supernatural entities. Tumor-like creatures clung to every passing human, unnoticed by the oblivious crowd. His attention was drawn to a swarm of these flying entities converging on a specific address.

That address happened to be 177A Bleecker Street, New York. Suddenly, his eyes burned, and everything vanished – the tiny tumor creatures disappearing into thin air. "Huh, what the hell was that about?" Adam questioned himself, shaking his head to dispel the strange vision. "Never mind, I need some money, and I know where to get it." With a mischievous smile, Adam set his course for his destination.

-Scene Change-

In the heart of New York City, the night hung heavy with shadows, and the distant hum of the city's perpetual life buzzed faintly. Adam, with pants of desperation, sprinted through a narrow alleyway, the damp concrete beneath his feet echoing his hurried footsteps. The alley was a dimly lit corridor flanked by towering brick walls that seemed to close in on him.

Behind him, the rhythmic pounding of footsteps matched the panting sounds of pursuers. Figures emerged from the shadows, wielding bats and water pipes, their faces obscured by the veil of night. Their collective shout pierced through the darkness, "Stop running, you thief!" The words carried a threatening edge, as if the city itself had become an accomplice in their pursuit.

As Adam glanced behind, fleeting glimpses of menacing silhouettes chased him relentlessly. "Come on, boys, there's no need to get physical," he panted, trying to buy himself precious seconds. The cold air cut through his breath as he darted across a dimly lit road, narrowly avoiding a yellow taxi that screeched to a halt.

His heart pounded in his ears, echoing the chaos around him. "Good job, Adam. You just had to pickpocket a thug's chick," he chided himself inwardly, regret coursing through his thoughts. Adam careened into another alleyway, its entrance shrouded in shadows. The narrow passage offered a momentary refuge, but as he looked back, he saw the thugs closing in.

"There's no way out!" the lead thug jeered triumphantly. Adam, folding his hands behind his back, activated his spiritual force. The alley became a claustrophobic enclosure, and the lead thug smirked, relishing the imminent confrontation. "No way to run, huh?" he taunted.

"Oh, come on! It was a measly $150? It ain't even that much. Maybe you should've given your girl a better allowance," Adam retorted, attempting to stall. The thugs advanced, determination etched on their faces. The alleyway seemed to tighten around them, bricks closing in like a trap.

As the thugs closed the distance, Adam brought out his hand. The unstable ball of mana vibrated on his index finger, poised for release. "Come on, boys. There's REALLY, no need to get physical, " he repeated, taunting them. The lead thug sneered, "Maybe you should have thought about that before slipping your filthy hands on my girl's purse. Now we're going to break them."

In the tense silence that followed, the thugs sprinted toward Adam. He unleashed the unstable mana ball, which exploded a blinding burst that left the alley echoing with their disoriented cries. "Agghhh!" "What the hell?" "He's a mutie!" "My eyes! IT BURNS" By the time they regained their vision, Adam had vanished into the obscurity of the city night.

-scene change-

In the dimly lit confines of his boat home, Adam meticulously arranged the newly acquired groceries inside the cooler. The boat, though worn and battered, provided a sense of familiarity and refuge. Soft creaks echoed through the vessel as he sorted the goods, his surroundings filled with the gentle lapping of water against the boat's hull.

Glancing at his floating screen, he mused, "Well, guess every spell has its own uses." The dim light from the screen cast a soft glow on his face, emphasizing the satisfaction he derived from the progress he'd made.

[ Name: Adam ]

[ Mana (plain): 6 (particle) ]

[ Spiritual-Force: 1.24/1.24 (1 spiritual force lasts for 1 minute; 1 spiritual force can be recovered in 1 minute) ]

[ Created spells:

Unstable-Mana-Ball(Tier: 0): a very unstable and tiny mana ball that explodes due to its instability. It doesn't do much damage due to its small size, but it does release bright flash light when it explodes, Lv:1 (3/100) cooldown: 10 seconds ]

Seeing his accumulated mana particles disappear, Adam was reminded a sentence from goldie, "that is why he said to stack as mana particles as possible so that i can cast spell since spell casting uses the mana particles in my sea of consciousness," with in mind, his sighted, "Well, I better start leveling up. Who knows, it might just be able to explode creatures' heads off," he mused with a hint of anticipation. A satisfied smile played on his lips as he continued to organize his food situation.

Seated amidst the dim glow of the boat's interior, Adam reflected on his spell. The flashbang spell had not only saved his hand but had become a project of improvement. Casting and patiently waiting for his spiritual force to recover became routine. Slowly but surely, he practices the spell, the bursts of light sporadically illuminating the boat's interior.

A/N well, another chapter, yes, double chapters a day(just for a while) and soon enough there would be something that will force his hands, if you guys read any Doctor Strange comics then you might know a lot about the event that is going to happen soon, if not, don't worry, i will explain.

PS: that weird sight stuff at the beginning was kinda random anyways, it might appear it might not, but WHO KNOWS.
