Chapitre 41: A Human's Guilt (End)

"Ana…"

I couldn't believe what I read in front of my eyes. Ana's mother was subjected to consequences for giving birth to a child with mana.

During that time, Earth was not linked to the Golden scroll and didn't have mana. Giving birth to a being with mana ruined the balance of things on Earth and hence she was punished.

"What is the name of your child?" The nurse holding Amanda's baby asked. For the nurse, mothers crying after giving birth wasn't a new thing.

"Anabelle…" Amanda replied weakly. "Can you give me my child?"

"Yes sure. Do you have anyone here with you?" The nurse asked.

Amanda's face dropped after hearing that. Both the nurse and me felt pity for Amanda who only had herself to look after the child.

"Ahh I see. Is the father still in contact or…" The nurse asked gently.

"Her father is dead." Amanda replied in a hollow voice.

Not deciding to pry further, the nurse silently handed the baby to Amanda and exited the room. I stood there in silence, watching Amanda stare at her new born child.

"You have your father's black eyes." Amanda smiled.

I walked closer to the bed and stared at Ana's eyes. Both of her eyes were completely black, unlike normal humans.

This was a distinct feature of a special type of fairies present on the fairy realm. Fairies were divided into numerous types based on their powers and physical features.

Ana's eyes were a specific feature of a particular type of fairies that were massacred on the fairy realm. Their powers were way too strong and both the Queen and King of fairies decided to end this particular line of fairies.

This was something I found after researching through a ton of myths related to fairies. Ray visited this particular realm to complete a hidden scenario.

Once he learned about the massacre of the innocent and the numerous cruel deeds done by the fairy rulers, particularly the fairy king, he decided to teach them a lesson.

This was the part of the novel where my research proved to be useful.

'How did the Entertainers never find her? They managed to put a mark on Earl's location and track him. How is a defenseless child safe?'

I wanted the answers to my questions but sadly, n one was present to answer my questions.

The world shifted once again and an old Ana appeared in front of me. She blew on a birthday cake with two candles present on it.

'She looks like a cute child.'

Ana looked like an adorable kid with chubby cheeks and a cute smile. Her hair were tied behind her in a ponytail and she seemed to be looking at her mother.

"Mama, twell me abwout papa."

"Your father is watching over you from a special place. He is always protecting you." Amanda replied with a tired smile.

A few streaks of gray were present in her life and being a single mother certainly took toll on her body.

I noticed how her shoulder hung low with tiredness. Dark circles were present below her eyes, reminding me of my horrible face when I didn't sleep for nights in a row.

"I luv you mama!" Ana ran and hugged her mother's legs.

All the tiredness on Amanda's face vanished as she tightly hugged her daughter.

The scene shifted again and Ana looked around four years old. Though her chubbiness had decreased quite a bit, she still looked like a cute child.

"Mama, why are we visiting my aunt so frequently. I don't like her or her family!" Ana complained to her mother.

"Don't be like that, Ana. She is our family member too." Amanda reminded.

"But she talks so rudely with you and me!" Ana protested.

"I know. Don't worry, everything will be all right."

The world continued to shift, showing me scenes from Ana's life. All the scenes contained her mother and how Ana spent time with her.

I got a glimpse at Ana's preschool life along with many other things. Every time something went wrong, Amanda would say "everything will be all right".

I clenched my fists in anger when I realized why she said this. This was a common saying of Earl's race. The fairies belonged to his race used to say this line to their children to help them sleep.

[ Time remaining: 6 months. ]

Amanda's time was running out and she needed to make sure that her child survived in this world. That was why she made Ana meet her aunt.

Months of their lives passed by in this manner. Amanda grew sadder with every day that passed by but never showed it to her daughter.

There were moments where Ana saw her mother crying silently but she never said anything about it. For her age, she was a lot mature which was not weird considering her fairy blood.

Days continued to pass until Amanda only had a day left to live.

[ Time remaining: 1 day. ]

"You were right, Earl. This Golden Scroll thing is fucked up. Even on a realm where the scenarios haven't started, such things exist." Amanda muttered with a distant gaze.

"Mom?" Five-year-old Ana asked.

Currently, the two of them were roaming around in a street. Ana held a small ball in one hand and held her mother's hand with the other.

I followed them closely, listening to their conversation. Amanda seemed lost in her own world and barely replied to Ana.

"Sorry, Ana. I was thinking about your birthday gift."

"Oh? What are you going to give me?"

"You have to wait to see that."

The scene shifted again. I found myself standing in a small room whose window was open. Moonlight entered the room, illuminating it slightly.

Ana was sleeping on a her bed peacefully whereas her mother watched over her with a sad expression on her face.

Tears fell from her eyes as she stifled her sobs.

[ Time remaining: two minutes. ]

"I am sorry Ana but I will have to go now. I am sorry you lost both of your parents on your birthday. I am sorry that I will never get to see you again…" Amanda whispered.

Leaning forward, she pressed a kiss on Ana's forehead. The latter rolled a bit on her bed, still sleeping.

"Earl, keep watching over her. I hope your sacrifice did not go to waste." Amanda whispered and closed her eyes.

She stood up and was ready to face death. Ana turned around in her bed again, her eyes still closed.

A realization dawned over me when I realized a weird thing. The trauma world was essentially a recording of the events that occurred in the events of the owner of the trauma world.

Only those events seen or heard by the person who experienced the trauma were able to appear in the trauma world.

"Ana…" Her name escaped my lips just in time to see Amanda's timer hit zero.

Amanda's body slowly began to fade from existence. Her body became translucent as she leaned forward and hugged Ana.

Her hands passed right through the child's body before fading from existence altogether.

Silence prevailed inside the room. My eyes were fixated on Ana who was slowly moving on the bed.

The child turned on the bed once again. Tears were flowing out of her closed eyes and I was the only person who was aware of this.

"Nothing will be all right now, mother." Ana spoke in the darkness. "You and father are dead because of me…"

Black sparks erupted around Ana's body, engulfing her inside them. The room shook violently and the windows rattled.

A small earthquake occurred as the tremors spread across the city.

On that day, an orphan who didn't belong to the human society was born…
