Chapitre 3: Chapter 3 - An Alien In A Group Chat? Or Not…

"Speech"

'Thoughts'

[System]

[The first, the second, the third, the fourth, and the fifth. You shall be known as group one, or the first squadron. Deal with each other as you see fit.]

Nobody typed a word. I guess they do call me 'the first' for a reason.

[The First: Does anyone else feel the urge to speak up?]

[The Third: The blood god cares not for petty words! For the blood god, cares not where the blood flows and the skulls come! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!]

I instantly shut off the chat after that. There was no way I was going to talk to a Daemon of the Blood God.

All of the chaos gods can see and hear through their underlings. Talking to a follower of the blood god about anything important, even for a fraction of a second, would draw their god's attention.

That is, at least if their god is watching them.

Calling any of the chaos god's names out loud is suicide, especially if you claim you're better than them.

There were many who tried and many who faced the consequences. I'll see if I can escape their gaze for long enough to get a foothold in the mortal world.

The great game shall go on with none of them the wiser until I am ready.

[Notice: Your dungeon will open in ten minutes.]

[World Announcement: Trailer for update 5.0.0 is live!]

'A world announcement?' I thought with confusion, as world announcements were only given and seen by players.

The semi-transparent screen of my dungeon was different than the screen of the world announcement, yet similar in many ways.

Does 'the game' still count me as a player? Or was I a weird mix of player and NPC? Either way, it seems I may still be able to access player-only things.

I tapped on the world announcement in front of me, and it opened up a new screen that held the update trailer.

I truly had nothing better to do other than watch the trailer to see what I was getting into.

Pressing play, I was greeted with updates from 4.9.6 to 4.9.9. The first shows a pinkish-purple being with an enchanting feminine figure.

The second shows a bulbous green being with maggots crawling on its fingers.

The third shows a domineering red being in unholy dark armor, red eyes piercing through the armor, and he stares at the camera.

The last one showed a twisted being that floated out in a void of nothingness, with only its mouth truly being seen. It let out a demonic laugh as the camera was blasted backward.

In big red and demonic text was 'Update 5.0.0: Demons and Dungeons.'

The camera was cut again. The sky was replaced by red rock as lava flowed and formed rivers.

Jagged red rocks and infertile soil of the same color formed the ground. Jagged, dead black trees scattered in the distance.

This was hell, the underworld, or the abyss, whatever you'd like to call it. Flying demons flew high in the sky, almost close enough to touch the rock above their heads.

A small demon was shown on camera. It looked as if you took a human, crushed every bone in its body, and then threw it in lava only to revive the corpse.

That demon was instantly killed a second later by a bigger demon with an axe. The demon's horns curled like a goat's from its forehead.

It was tall, muscular, and dark red. The lower half of its body had goat-like legs with reddish fur.

The demon looked at the invisible camera with disgust and contempt before everything went black.

Silhouettes were shown of various beings of various heights and shapes. However, one of them I did recognize. Who wouldn't know the build of the body they built?

The silhouettes passed by quickly, as many shadowy figures could be seen standing in a group as the camera angle began zooming out.

The video feed was cut, and in a demonic red font was 'Demons & Dungeons', and below that was a normal-looking text saying, 'Out now!'

[Your dungeon is now opening...]

[World Announcement: Update 5.0.0 is live!]

I moved the world announcement to the side and looked at my dungeon menu.

I am technically all-powerful in my dungeon, as I can make or move anything according to my will, but I'm sure that will change if an outsider enters the floor.

I know from the stories I've read in my past life that one can see throughout all of the dungeon using their core, depending on the story.

But if I can create things from just a menu without the core, then I can definitely see throughout this dungeon without the core.

I began concentrating on trying to 'see' my dungeon. Staring ahead at the near-transparent screen in front of me, it suddenly melted away to show me a top-down view of my dungeon.

This was more of a two-dimensional map used in those command-and-conquer-type games. It wasn't what I needed, and it reminded me of...

My eyes widened as I remembered another game from my past life.

"How could I forget..." A soft smirk appeared on my face. "Of all games, you truly were something special."

Getting back on track, my smirk lessened back into expressionlessness.

'Wrong.' I thought as the screen flashed and changed to a normal camera view of the trees and blue sky.

Swiping my finger, the screen changed to the entrance of my dungeon. It used to be a closed door, but now it is a wide, open portal with no door in sight.

With that, I shut off all of the screens in my face. Standing up, I began stretching.

No longer would I be idle. I needed mastery over my power and to see if I could grow my status by training.

Normally, players would only be able to gain status points by leveling up with their class, determining how many points they would get per level.

However, due to being somewhat classified as both, shouldn't I be able to go both ways?

I started by taking off my pants and folding them. I wasted points on them, and I sure as hell wasn't going to get them sweaty or dirty.

With my pants placed on the throne, I began with push-ups. I needed to see how long it would take me to tire out normally and then how long it would take to tire out with my energy being released.

I assume that demons don't have their mana grow naturally. From what my soul-seeing talent tells me, demons probably get mana and/or other increases from eating souls.

Do players drop souls? They probably don't, considering I still have mine even though I used to be a servant of the blood god.

If anything, players probably drop a percentage of their experience on death, and that counts as their 'soul.'

When becoming the servant of the chaos gods, your experience bar is traded with a different bar that most call 'favor.'

Favor is very finicky and can constantly fluctuate depending on how much your god likes you. You could go from level 1 to level 100 in an hour, but you must be liked.

At the same time, you could drop from level 100 to level one because the god of change loves to fuck with his servants.

And once you choose a chaos god, you can't go back and must either create a new character or live with your choice.

When fighting players, the best thing to do is to constantly kill them. They are immortal, but their level drops with every death, and if they're at a high level, then they won't try to come back.

The problem with my dungeon currently is that it's too easy and too rewarding. If I leave it like this for too long, then players will try to find the next floor due to having leveled high enough to not need the first floor.

I may increase the difficulty in increments and then make a massive jump. I need a floor that separates me and the core from the masses of players.

I also don't know where my dungeon will open up. It could be a couple of minutes or days before someone finds the entrance.

'Who knew working out would clear up your head?' I scoffed at the thought. I wasn't even keeping count.

My best bet is to try and stack up on souls while slowly increasing my stats. The other 71 demons are probably insanely powerful, and I'm not just due to the fact that I quite literally spawned from nothing.

I also need to test if my regeneration boosts the tearing and repairing of my muscles or if it just heals them like magic. I would assume it goes through the whole process of regeneration, but it is insanely quick.

I would akin it to waiting for your body to heal but having a button that speeds up your body as if it were a video.

While seeing if my status grows, I may try and get some basic skills. By doing a task over and over, I can acquire skills such as [Sprint] or [Fatal Strike].

My musing was interrupted by a notification from the dungeon.

Was I really found that quickly?

Without interrupting my grind, a screen appeared in front of me. It gave me an all-seeing view of the surroundings on the first floor.

The first person to enter my dungeon seemed to be an Elf. The long blonde hair, green eyes, and long ears gave her away.

She appeared to be stuck in a shocked expression over the land. Elves do love nature.

She was wearing some beginner-level armor. The leather armor every player is given.

With that notification, I saw another person enter the dungeon. This one seemed to be an ordinary male human. Taller than the Elf, with brown hair and blue eyes.

The human said something to his companion that I couldn't hear as the screen only displayed sight and did not transmit sound.

His female companion nodded before they both started walking forward.

They would probably make quick work of the great rabbits, and even if they didn't, more players would show themselves and try their luck.

Hopefully, I wasn't too close to a starter area. If I was, then I'd be flooded with players before I could fully prepare.

After all, the most interesting scenarios are the ones that take the most time to unfold...
