Bab 161: The Results

My face was everywhere.

The livestream interview had more or less catapulted me into the spotlight, and news sites, gossip blogs, celebrity update accounts would not leave my name alone.

My biggest blunder was immortalised for the entire world to see, and stills of me freezing into a state of dissociation had been turned into gifs or reaction memes.

It was bittersweet.

On one hand, public sympathy was on my side, and Serena Valik had received so much backlash for her incessant hounding that the magazine ended up firing her. On the other hand, the underworld knew I had a weakness now, and they'd be aiming for my jugular.

My brain hadn't stopped machinating how to save myself from any oncoming attacks since the interview two weeks ago. It had been two weeks of sleeplessness, cold showers and operating like an automatic machine on inhuman amounts of caffeine.

I couldn't feel <i>anything</i>.
