Bab 28: Chapter 28: Two left
" The tides have changed. The Zenin clan looked unbeatable only a short while ago. But instead, they're on the ropes. Will they be able to bounce back and win? "
As soon as the announcer stopped talking, Mute lunged forward throwing an overhand at Inumaki. Inumaki's eyes widened at Mute's sudden increase in speed. The overhand narrowly missed grazing Inumaki's chin. As Mute's balled fist went past Inumaki's head, he suddenly opened his fist and yanked his arm back grabbing onto the back of Inumaki's head.
Inumaki is pulled forward before a powerful knee slams into his stomach making him cough up blood. Mute repeatedly slams his knee into Inumaki before Inumaki crosses his arms in front of his stomach bracing himself for an incoming knee. The knee hurls toward his stomach until it changes directions and slams into Inumaki's nose.
Inumaki's head is launched back as Mute lets go of his head and shuffles his feet, slamming his heel into Inumaki's jaw, launching him off his feet.
Mute stares at Inumaki flipping in the air and landing on his feet. Inumaki's face has several cuts. Blood pours down his face as he breathes heavily. Mute stares at Inumaki with a grin until heavy footsteps shake the floor catching his attention. Mute looks to his left and sees Naoya running towards him while Panda runs like a gorilla chasing him.
Mute instantly knew what Naoya wanted to do. He slowly walks past the running Naoya while reaching into his robe. Mute stares at Panda running towards him while shuffling his hand inside his robe before pulling out a bloody knife. Panda looks at the knife confused. Then it dawned on him.
When Naoya and Mute high-fived it wasn't a sign of friendship or congrats. Instead, Naoya passed Mute's knife back to him. While battling Panda, Naoya picked up his Mute's knife, the one he first lost at the start of the fifth bracket.
Mute lunges towards Panda slashing his knife. The knife grazes past Panda's side as he narrowly dodges before countering with a wild punch. The punch sails over Mute's head as he throws a leg kick that slams into Panda's leg. Panda loses his balance and stumbles back.
Mute glares at Panda until a sudden shockwave ripples out blowing Mute's hair. Mute looks toward the shockwave and sees a massive dust cloud. He sees Naoya slide out of the cloud with his arms crossed. His shoes finally stopped, with Naoya's heels dangling over the stage's edge. Mute looks at Naoya until Naoya looks to the right as. The dust cloud fades away before Mute realizes that Inumaki isn't there.
Naoya looks up at the sky. As Inumaki is floating above Mute after jumping into the sky. Inumaki stares at Mute while grabbing his throat. Inumaki is reaching his limits. Knowing this Inumaki will use his remaining power to limit the biggest threat. Which in his mind is Mute. Inumaki latches open his mouth before painfully speaking.
" Plummet..."
Gravity increases around Mute causing him to kneel on one knee. Mute grits his teeth, trying his hardest to stand back up. Mute hears a heavy footstep before Panda throws a massive uppercut that slams into Mute's body launching him back. Mute bounces repeatedly off the ground his eyes tracking Inumaki falling out of the sky.
Inumaki is about to land on the floor until suddenly Panda reaches out and gently grabs onto Inumaki. Panda spins and chucks Inumaki towards Mute. Inumaki's hair and clothes blow wildly as he propels towards a shocked Mute.
Mute pushes off the ground and lands on his feet. With his feet sliding, he flicks his wrist, throwing his knife. The knife misses badly sailing over Inumaki's head. Inumaki makes a confused face. He knew that Mute wouldn't miss that badly. While thinking about this, Inumaki hears someone snag the knife out of the air. Inumaki glances up and sees Naoya holding onto the knife.
Mute wasn't throwing the knife towards the charging Inumaki instead passing it, to the leaping Naoya. Naoya slashes toward Inumaki until a massive figure appears next to him. Panda drops kicks Naoya launching him back. A grin appears on Inumaki's face as he looks forward and talks in a raspy voice.
" Blow away... "
A force engulfs Mute's body as he is launched back again. Inumaki lands on the floor and starts to sprint after Mute flies through the air. Mute starts to roll on the floor rapidly approaching the stage edge. Mute rolls to his feet until Inumaki talks again.
" Begone... "
Mute is blown back again except the force of the attack has weakened. Due to Inumaki's overuse of his cursed speech. Mute slides before his feet dangle over the stage's edge. Mute watches as Inumaki tightly holds onto his throat, blood leaking out the side of his mouth. He gargles on blood before talking.
" Begone... "
A force engulfs Mute's body except that the force is weak. A grin appears on Mute's face as he starts to walk through the force. Inumaki watches in shock as Mute slowly walks through his attack. Mute loads back his right fist and throws a punch. The punch inches closer and closer to Inumaki's face until a bloody grin appears on Inumaki's face.
Mute eyes widen as Inumaki lets out a high-pitched scream.
" Blow away... "
The sleeve of Mute's right arm rips. Mute's feet start to slide back. Mute grits his teeth trying his hardest to stay on the floor. Mute reaches out and snags onto the back of Inumaki's neck before throwing a knee into Inumaki's stomach. Inumaki coughs out blood until Inumaki grabs onto his throat and glances up locking eyes with Mute. Mute looks at him confused until suddenly the force around Mute starts to swirl.
Mute glances around until he hears a chuckle and Inumaki yells out.
" BEGONE! "
The left side of the stage shatters into small cubic fragments as a humongous dust cloud engulfs the stage. The crowd stares into the dust in awe before noticing the dust cloud warping oddly. They watch as Mute and Inumaki fly out of the dust cloud, both of them are off the stage floating above the crowd.
Mute tightly holds onto Inumaki's neck until Inumaki throws punches into Mute's nose busting it open. Blood leaks out of Mute's nose until he twirls flipping Inumaki under him. They rapidly descend from the air, staring up in shock at the crowd.
Mute looks back at the stage behind him. He places his feet on Inumaki's chest before kicking. Inumaki's body flies back as Mute propels himself towards the stage. Mute flies towards the stage with his right arm extended out in front of him. As Mute approached the stage, falling. He heard a voice talk to him.
" Plummet. "
Mute glances behind him and sees Inumaki staring at him with a snarky smile as increased gravity makes his body descend rapidly out of the air. Mute falls towards the stage at increased speed. Mute stretches out his right arm to its fullest extent and watches his fingers gaze at the edge of the stage. Mute's body slams out of the stage making a loud thud.
Mute lies on the ground in shock as the crowd behind him lets out a massive roar. As the announcer yells out dramatically.
" Inumaki and Gen have eliminated each other in a fabulous fashion. There are only two left, Naoya and Panda. Who will come out victorious between those two? "...
