Bab 29: Chapter 29: Anger
" Inumaki and Gen have eliminated each other in a fabulous fashion. There are only two left, Naoya and Panda. Who will come out victorious between those two? "
Naoya looked over at Mute leaning on the stage in shock. Mute stared at him angrily. Mute was clearly furious that he had been eliminated. He pushed off the stage and started to walk past the crowd as hundreds of thoughts ran through his head...
I could have made it back to the stage. I could have. If only I could use my innate technique. Ah, I guess there's no point in being mad about it. I've been eliminated that's all to it. I walk past the crowd cheering with my fists balled. I need to calm my emotions. I'm not thinking straight right now.
I walk towards the other eliminated contestants. They're bunched up and being healed by a brown-haired woman with bags under her eyes. Shoko. One of the few healers in the sorcerer world. I have been sent a few requests to assassinate her. But I decided not to accept any of them. If she is one of the few healers. I'm guessing the security around her is massive. I glance around and see five strong-looking sorcerers staring at her. They're trying to keep their presence hidden. I guess they are her bodyguards.
Shoko looks at me before a grin appears on her face. I approach her getting a few feet away from her until she talks.
" Please, wait in the line, I'll get to you soon- "
Before she could finish her sentence, I walked past her catching her off guard. I only have a few broken ribs. It's nothing I haven't healed from before. I feel her eyes staring at my back as I walk through a crowd of people, slipping through a crowd of people.
I exited out of the crowd before walking for 30 minutes arriving back in the forest. This tournament has taught me one thing. I'm overly reliant on my innate technique. I couldn't beat some children in hand to hand, how do I plan on beating Gojo, if I can't even beat them...
Unbeknownst to Mute someone has been following him for the past 30 minutes. Mute believes he is overly reliant on his cursed technique, while in fact. He is overly reliant on sensing cursed energy. Maki has been following Mute for the past 30 minutes. Due to Maki's low cursed energy, Mute hasn't sensed her.
Maki hides behind an oak tree while staring at Mute walking. Mute's robe is covered in rips and holes. The right sleeve of his robe is gone. Maki watches as Mute grabs onto one of the holes in the robe before ripping the top part off the robe. Before the torn piece of the robe suddenly shrinks. Maki doesn't notice the robe shrinking because her eyes are locked on Mute's back.
She stared at Mute's back seeing thousands of scars and bruises. Maki believed Mute was a spoiled child like Naoya but after seeing Mute's scarred body, she knew this wasn't the case. Mute starts to walk further away leaving Maki's vision. Until he disappears from her sight. Maki quickly walks out from the tree and dashes forward trying to catch up to Mute but while dashing she suddenly feels an immense killing intent creep up her back.
She snaps her back, her eyes scanning through the dense forest. She continues to look for the source of the killing intent until she feels something lying on her right shoulder as a shadow engulfs her body. Maki glanced to her left and saw a dark-haired woman clearly from the Zenin clan. A wave of killing intent engulfs Maki as sweat rolls down her face as the woman talks in a deranged voice.
" You have one second. Tell me why you are following my dear little brother. "...
Ten minutes before Maki met with Mute's sister. The battle between Naoya and Panda continued to clash exchanging a barrage of blows with each other. The crowd continued to cheer but inside the crowd, Gojo could be seen with a bored look on his face. He watched as Naoya uppercuts Panda making him stagger back. Naoya and Panda's bodies are near their limits as both are breathing heavily.
Gojo yawned while stretching his arms until he glanced at the bunched-up contestants being healed by Shoko. Gojo noticed one of the children was missing. He was trying to find Mute. He was walking towards Shoko until he halted and thought for a second.
He looked at Naoya and Panda on the stage one more time before he sighed and murmured to himself.
" This fight is going to be over soon, might as well watch the end of it. "...
