Bab 7: Chapter 7

The wagon ride to our new home was relatively peaceful if a little boring. The crowds on the street made progress slow. The afternoon heat beat down upon us as the three of us rode in the back of the wagon along with all of our possessions, which didn't amount to much. After a few minutes into the ride, I scooted to the back and closed my eyes, trying to tune out the crowds around us and the bumpiness of the ride. I fully focused on accessing holy magic for the first time.

Holy magic is similar to other magics, but it also has one main difference, making a "pact" with a divine figure. For me that part is what I figured would make it easier to master than other types of magic, I already believed in a god, Miach. Also, I was pretty sure the falna imprinted on my body would provide Miach's assistance instead of him consciously having to lend me power when I ask for it like how most Holy magic pacts work. Plus the other determining factor for Holy magic is the amount of faith the believer (me) has in their god. That was another nonissue for me due to literally sitting next to Miach right now.

I closed my eyes and extended one hand out, making sure to keep it hidden from our surroundings by the boxes of stuff and Miach's back. I imagined a relatively simple spell, Healing. I pictured someone who is severely exhausted and has lost a lot of blood getting brought back to full health by my touch. That was one of the benefits of seriously practicing magic, my ability to mentally picture things has gotten much better. I opened my eyes and saw small green sparks being produced by my hands.

The weird thing about using Holy magic is that I can feel a slight drain on my body, but I can also feel some of the mana inside the falna leave it to help power my magic. At first, I worried that eventually, I would drain my falna dry by overusing holy magic, but once I sensed my falna more closely I could tell that I hadn't even removed a drop from the ocean of divinity inside of it. That also wasn't even considering that a single drop of divinity would be like a whole new ocean of mana.

With that in mind, I was more assured that using Holy magic wouldn't do anything harmful to my falna. I continued to practice Healing for a few more minutes until I saw it join the other Arts on my status sheet. 'It seems like Holy magic might be my forte,' I thought to myself with a chuckle as I glanced over the Miach and then further out onto the streets of Orario that contained hundreds in not thousands of gods. After Healing I moved on to Recovery which acts like your typical healing spell.

Recovery is the Art that actually heals wounds and can reattach severed limbs while Healing only helps with blood loss and stamina loss. I continued to practice, oblivious to the fact that Miach and Naaza were now staring at me incredulously. It only took a few tries to get down Recovery as well, leading me to believe that going all in on Holy magic might be a good idea, especially since to obtain Melt Slash I must obtain the Miricle Disintegration. Of course, immediately after my success with Recovery and Healing, I tried, only to find my brain almost fried as I tried to comprehend the multitude of spell circles involved with the Miricle all at once.

As I slightly slumped over Miach handed me a potion, concern in his eyes, "What was that?"

"Just working on my magic, I already figured out a few things, but I just tried to go above what I am ready for right there," I said before chugging the potion and rubbing my head.

"Were those green sparks you produced your magic?" Naaza chimed in quietly, so that the driver couldn't overhear us.

I thought for a brief moment about how much to divulge, but it only took me a moment to decide to tell them almost everything. The fact that I am from another world and that my power comes from another world as well is something that I am taking to the grave. I always found it stupid for an MC to divulge that he or she is from another world, but since I would be with them for the foreseeable future I would tell them most of the truth.

"Basically my skill and magic allow for me to gather more magics and skills without actually having them appear on my falna. This also allows me to break through the three magic limit," I said, trying to explain it in a way that they would understand and without having to go too much into it.

As I spoke I could also feel a weird sort of power pass over me. I could tell that I wasn't the primary target, but my words were. Looking at Miach I could see his eyebrows shoot up in surprise and confusion. 'Ahh, I forgot that gods can tell when someone is lying. I guess my skill also protects me from lie detector magic or abilities as well.' I thought in satisfaction, but showed no particular emotion on my face. Miach didn't look at me suspiciously, but he did look at me with more intensity after his lie detection failed.

Naaza, oblivious to what had just occurred continued on with questions, "Then how many magics and skills do you have?" she whispered, moving closer to Miach and me.

"I have two skills, but I have three groups of magic (A/N: MC is including all of his Arts under the magic category) with each having a few spells," I said simply, expecting the looks of shock that I received from the two of them.

After Naaza's insistence, I briefly showed them Healing and Flame quickly before suddenly the wagon stopped. I heard the driver's voice call out that we had arrived so I hopped off the wagon, helping to unload all of our stuff. Naaza sat off to the side as Miach and I worked, clearly embarrassed that she was unable to help due to her injuries. We finished quickly due to not having much stuff and I finally turned to see our new home. My expectations were a rock bottom so I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw.

Don't get me wrong, it was still basically a piece of garbage, but at least it looked fairly clean and livable. The area we are in is a bit rough, but even injured Naaza is still a Lv. 2 adventurer and I have enough firepower to drive off anybody who would want to break in. The place was another shop/home hybrid with the first floor being the shop and the upper floor being where we would sleep. As it was getting dark we quickly moved our stuff inside and started to light some candles.

Then Naaza returned from her trip upstairs to inspect the rooms looking annoyed, "There are only two bedrooms and one bathroom," she announced, still limping slightly, but able to move on her own now.

Miach and I immediately looked at each other before turning back to gaze at Naaza. I could tell that Naaza and I were thinking the same thing so we both turned to Miach to let him make the decision. I didn't really care what decision was made, but it would certainly be awkward rooming with Naaza. I would prefer to room with Miach, but it also felt wrong to have a god as a roommate. Naaza and I both didn't want to force Miach to room with one of us, but at the same time, we didn't really want to room with each other.

Miach could see us leaving the decision up to him so he cleared his throat and spoke up, "I will take bigger of the rooms along with Augustus and leave the other room to you Naaza, but the order for the bathroom will be me, Naaza, then you Augustus."

I guess the bathroom was where Miach drew the line, not that I could blame him. Sharing a bathroom could lead to quite a few issues so it made sense for the usually altruistic god to make this one selfish decision. I didn't mind the fact that I would go last due to Naaza and Miach waking up before me as well as respecting the girl's seniority and position as captain.

With that settled we all stocked the shop quickly and moved up to our rooms. When Miach and I arrived in the room things became even more awkward when we saw that there was only one small bed.

"You take the bed, I'm fine with the floor," I said as I laid down and used my clack as a blanket.

I fell asleep quickly due to needing the energy to venture into the dungeon for the first time tomorrow after a quick stop at the guild to meet my dungeon advisor.
