Ino turned stiffly and saw Jiryoku sitting quietly, waiting for his ramen to arrive. She approached Jiryoku and rubbed her eyes to confirm if it was really him. Confirming that it was indeed Jiryoku, Ino moved closer to his seat, sat down, and asked, "You returned so quickly. Wasn't it supposed to take two more days?"
"My mission ended, that's why I returned. Your father will provide the details," replied Jiryoku.
"What will happen if you tell me?" Ino pouted.
At that moment, Ichiraku arrived with the ramen. Jiryoku took it and started eating, paying no mind to Ino's chatter. Ino continued talking about what happened at the Ninja Academy and what she did when Jiryoku wasn't around, while Jiryoku simply hummed from time to time.
After Jiryoku finished eating, he stood up and started to leave. Ino followed behind him, with Shikamaru and Choji trailing along as well. They walked in silence until Shikamaru broke the silence.
"By the way, Jiryoku, how do you feel when you're on a mission?" Shikamaru asked.
"For me, a mission is an opportunity to sharpen my skills, the result of all the training I've undergone. Money is also a motivating factor," Jiryoku replied.
"Hmm, how does it feel to work with teammates you don't know at all?" Shikamaru continued the conversation.
"It's not that difficult. When you work as a team, you eventually get to know your teammates, and through teamwork, you can even become friends," Jiryoku answered.
As they continued walking towards Jiryoku's house, Jiryoku suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to Ino and the others.
"You all should go. I'll go home alone," Jiryoku said.
"No matter what you say, I'm going with you," Ino insisted.
"Shikamaru, take her and go. I'm telling you this for the good of all of you," Jiryoku said sternly.
Upon hearing Jiryoku's tone, Shikamaru became alert and pulled out his kunai. "If there's any danger, let us know. We'll face it together."
Shaking his head in response to Shikamaru's words, Jiryoku signaled to Ino and Choji that there might be some danger, causing them to become vigilant as well.
"Show yourself! I know you've been following me since I left Ichiraku Ramen Shop," Jiryoku calmly called out. However, no one emerged in response. "It seems you won't reveal yourself like this."
Jiryoku drew his sword and swung it in one direction, cleanly slicing through a tree. Just as the slash cut through the tree, a ninja jumped out, narrowly avoiding the attack.
Another four ninjas appeared and surrounded Jiryoku and the others.
"Jiryoku, Danzo-Sama wants to see you. Come with us," said the only Jonin in the team.
"I don't know anyone named Danzo. Who is he?" said Jiryoku.
Shikamaru approached Jiryoku and began to explain, "Jiryoku, Danzo is..." but Jiryoku raised his hand, silencing Shikamaru.
"Danzo-Sama is the true protector of Konoha," said the ROOT ninja.
"Are you implying that the Hokage we know is a facade and your Danzo-Sama is the real Hokage?" replied Jiryoku.
The ROOT ninjas hesitated to answer, knowing it could cause trouble for Danzo. "No, we didn't mean that."
"Come with us. Danzo-Sama wants to meet you," insisted the ROOT ninja.
"Why do I sense a threat in your voice? Are you threatening me?" questioned Jiryoku.
"If you don't know what's good for you, then we'll have to force you," stated the Jonin, and the other ROOT ninjas brandished their weapons, ready to attack Jiryoku at any moment.
"Seems like you ROOT members have short memories," Jiryoku said, gently tapping his sword on the ground. Suddenly, a powerful gravitational force descended upon the ROOT ninjas, causing them to struggle to maintain their footing. With calm determination, Jiryoku swiftly ended their lives with a few sword slashes, and the lifeless bodies of the ROOT ninjas fell to the ground, blood seeping from their wounds. Shikamaru tried to remain composed, but Choji and Ino couldn't hold back their nausea and vomited.
"This is why I told you to leave," Jiryoku stated. "Come with me to Konoha hospital. You've all been poisoned, not severely, but enough to immobilize you."
"What about you?" Shikamaru asked.
"I protected myself with chakra, so I wasn't affected," Jiryoku replied. "I don't want to carry all of you to Konoha hospital, so let's hurry."
With that, Jiryoku carried Ino, while Shikamaru supported Choji, and they made their way to Konoha hospital.
Finally, they arrived at Konoha hospital, with Ino, Shikamaru, and Choji panting and barely able to stand. Jiryoku supported them as he handed them over to the hospital staff, providing their identities for their parents to be notified as soon as possible. After ensuring their well-being, Jiryoku left for his home, exhausted and in need of rest.
As Jiryoku spoke, the Konoha hospital staff informed Shikaku, Inoichi, and Choza about what had happened. As soon as they heard that their children had been admitted to the hospital, they immediately rushed towards Konoha hospital, accompanied by their wives who had also been notified.
Upon reaching the hospital, they were greeted by the pale and weak faces of their children. They quickly approached the medical ninjas, and the person attending to them happened to be the deputy dean of Konoha hospital, who personally assured them that their children would be fine after a night's rest.
Inoichi anxiously asked, "What happened to all of them? Are they alright?"
"Yes, they will be completely fine after some rest," reassured the deputy dean.
The parents breathed a collective sigh of relief upon hearing her words.
Filled with anger, Choza declared, "Whoever did this to them, I won't let them get away with it."
"We don't know. Jiryoku, who brought them to the hospital, said they would explain everything to their parents," explained the deputy dean.
Shikaku turned his gaze towards Shikamaru and asked, "Tell me, what happened?"
Taking a moment to catch his breath, Shikamaru replied, "It was Danzo who wanted to speak with Jiryoku, but Jiryoku refused. Then the ROOT ninjas attacked Jiryoku, and he killed them on the spot. The poison they used to incapacitate Jiryoku didn't affect him, but since we were with him, it affected us instead and caused our current condition."
