Bab 11: Chapter 11: Gamma Rays
"Put the box down." Just as Nick Fury was about to leave with the box, Loki's voice came, "I really need it."
"No need to be so nervous, right?" Nick Fury didn't turn around and spoke with his back facing Loki.
"Of course, it is necessary. I have come a long way for this," Loki's sweat was even more pronounced now, and his complexion grew more unpleasant. "I am Loki, from Asgard, and I bear a great mission that you cannot comprehend."
"Loki?" Silvig, who was examining the wounded, asked in astonishment, "Are you Thor's brother?"
"What? Thor's brother?" Silvig's words surprised everyone watching the video.
Two things were surprising. First, another mythical figure had appeared, and second, Loki and Thor had different positions.
In the previous video, Thor was on their side, fighting alongside them against the Chitauri, but his brother appeared to be a full-fledged villain.
"We have no quarrel with you," Nick Fury said.
"Ants have no quarrel with your shoes," Loki replied.
"So, you want to crush us?"
"I actually have good news to share." As Loki spoke, he tapped his staff on Dr. Selvig's chest. Just like with Barton, Dr. Selvig's eyes turned pitch black, but soon returned to normal.
"Boss, Commander Fury is buying time. This place is about to explode, and we'll be buried under hundreds of meters of rubble," Barton walked over, interrupting the conversation between Loki and Nick Fury.
"Just like a pyramid," Nick Fury had his plan exposed, but he showed no sign of flinching.
"He's right. The portal is starting to collapse," Dr. Selvig said as he checked the computer. "We have two minutes until complete collapse."
"Fine." Loki glanced at Barton.
Bang! Barton drew his gun and shot Nick Fury directly in the chest.
"If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't believe that one day Barton would shoot me," Nick Fury's one eye flickered with shock. "What exactly is that staff?"
"That staff seems to have the power to manipulate minds," Natasha Romanoff's astonishment had yet to subside. "Everyone who is touched by the staff eventually becomes loyal to Loki."
"Their thoughts and logic remain unaffected, only their allegiance changes..." Tony Stark furrowed his brows, his scientific mind diverging. "This makes no sense. How is it possible to only alter one aspect of their beliefs, their allegiance, without affecting other parts of their thoughts?"
In the video, Nick Fury was shot and fell, while Loki, along with Clint Barton, Dr. Selvig, and others, walked away with the cosmic cube.
Scene to this point, cut to a pair of high heels, a pair of hands picking up the high heels while walking and making a phone call, saying, "Where is Barton?"
Then Phil Coulson's voice came, "We don't know either."
"Is he still alive?" Natasha Romanoff asked.
"I'll tell you the details when you come back," Phil Coulson said, "We need you to talk to that guy."
"Coulson, you know very well that Stark doesn't believe me at all," Natasha Romanoff said.
"No, I'll handle Stark, you go find the big guy," Phil Coulson said.
The scene ends here.
Although the video doesn't explicitly mention names, the phrase "big guy" undoubtedly refers to the Hulk. In front of him, no one else can fit that description.
But at this point, no one cares why Natasha Romanoff is gathering the Hulk because in this video, there is another figure that is more enchanting and captivating than Black Widow, and that is Wanda Maximoff.
Regarding the question about Natasha Romanoff, it may seem insignificant, as she only appears at the end of the video. However, there is a lot of information conveyed in this video.
Firstly, the existence of the Tesseract, an item of cosmic power. In the video, Nick Fury was studying the Tesseract, which led to Loki's arrival.
"Egghead, tell us honestly, has S.H.I.E.L.D. started researching this cosmic cube?" Tony Stark walked up to Nick Fury and asked, word by word, "Don't think about hiding it, the reason I haven't hacked into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s system before is that I wasn't interested. But now, I have a reason to break in."
Natasha Romanoff didn't say anything, but like Tony Stark, she stared at Nick Fury, clearly waiting for an answer.
"Stark, easy, don't look at me as if I were a human criminal," Nick Fury said with some helplessness, "I'm not currently conducting research on the cube, and knowing the future, I don't think I will pursue these studies in the future."
"You better not," Tony Stark still didn't believe Nick Fury, "After we leave, I will visit S.H.I.E.L.D. myself. I want to see with my own eyes that the cube is locked in the basement like garbage, not in some secret research facility of yours. Whether you treat me as a guest or a spy, it's up to you. Either way, I will personally take a look."
"I think just locking it in the basement is not enough," Natasha Romanoff said, "Do you remember how the cube was activated in the video? No one touched it, it activated itself!"
"Dr. Selvig said the cube itself is an energy source," Tony Stark frowned after hearing Natasha Romanoff's words, "Theoretically, it can self-activate, whether you study it or not."
"So Loki's arrival couldn't be avoided?" Nick Fury asked.
"Why didn't Loki come to Earth earlier or later? Why did he come precisely when the cube was self-activated?" Tony Stark pondered.
"Are you suggesting that Loki only becomes aware of the cube when it self-activates and not at other times?" Nick Fury said.
"That's right!" Tony Stark clapped his hands, "So we must ensure this point, even when the cube self-activates, Loki won't be able to sense it. We need to block all information related to the cube."
"When it activates, the cube emits gamma rays," Natasha Romanoff had a speculation in her mind, "Could it be that Loki senses the cube through gamma rays?"
"After we leaveI'll immediately build a container that can completely block gamma rays and put the cube in it," Tony Stark said.
