Sterling gave a single curt nod to Andre's question. He would stay in his old room with Faye. He had no intention of letting her stay alone in her condition.

"Andre, one more thing. Get those men off my field and move them to the training grounds. They can set up camp there. Keep them away from here before they destroy it all."

Andre watched with concern as the Duke and his stallion, with Faye limp in his arms, loped back to the fortress.

As he observed both of them, Andre rubbed the back of his neck. He couldn't help but wonder what had transpired to leave the Duchess unconscious like that in the Duke's arms.

He shook his head, brushing away his runaway thoughts, and returned to doing as the Duke had commanded.

Faye's groggy eyes gradually opened. She could feel Helena wiping her forehead with a cool cloth.
