A cold tremor ran through Faye, making her skin prickle. She withdrew her hands from the old woman's. Her mind felt disoriented and numb at hearing the unexpected news from Helena. It was like her soul had drained from her body, leaving her a ghost of a person.

She could not believe the unfortunate turn of events.
