Faced with the impact of a large number of plants, the Black Widow and Melinda did not retreat but took the initiative to meet them. Although the two of them lacked superpowers, they relied on the scientific research team at SHIELD.
After Simmons deconstructed Ivy's genetic structure, he began to try making a suppression potion. Although it didn't reach complete perfection, after many attempts, the potion's inhibitory effect reached more than 50%. This gave the two agents the confidence to rush forward.
Facing the overwhelming plants, the two drew out their pistols and started shooting. Instead of ordinary gunpowder bullets, they fired special bullets filled with the suppression potion. The bullets exploded upon contact with the plants, releasing a potion-infused smoke that quickly spread across the corridor.
Upon exposure to the mist, the plants, which had been menacing, suddenly wilted. Simultaneously, the corridor door opened, and dozens of agents rushed in.
"Ivy Pepper, you have committed a felony; quickly give up resistance; otherwise, it will only increase your sentence."
As the agents spoke, bullets were fired rapidly. Ivy manipulated the plants to resist, but the corridor was short, and the agents were closing in.
Under the effect of the inhibitory potion, the plants' abilities weakened significantly. With the agents skilled in their approach, it would take less than two minutes for them to reach Ivy. Behind her was the conference room, so going back wasn't an option. Ivy kicked open a door and looked down; at a forty-meter drop.
With a punch shattering the glass, Ivy didn't hesitate to jump down. As she descended, the lawn below grew rapidly, creating a massive canopy that caught Ivy, shielding her from falling damage.
The Black Widow and Melinda hung down from the window helplessly. Without superpowers, even the Black Widow's enhanced body couldn't withstand a forty-meter jump.
"Maybe you go to the conference room to see the situation, and the others will follow me."
Ivy leaped from the tree canopy, feeling pain from her injured shoulder. However, safety was far from guaranteed, and there was no time to treat the wound.
S.H.I.E.L.D. took the operation seriously, deploying 500 agents. Ivy hadn't run far before dozens of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents surrounded her, pointing their pistols at her.
"Suspect Ivy Pepper, warn you again and surrender immediately; otherwise, we will take tough measures against you."
Ivy understood that these people wouldn't kill her. They needed her alive to use her as leverage against Jude.
"Children, solve these bitches!"
Ivy commanded the plants, and the ground under the agents transformed. However, the agents quickly threw glass bottles, suppressing the spread of the drug. Some changes were halted, and only a dozen agents found themselves entangled in the plants.
The remaining agents fired simultaneously, targeting Ivy's limbs. Though hitting a hundred shots was challenging, hitting the torso was easy. A hail of bullets ensued, Ivy manipulated the plants to shield herself, and after the first round of bullets, she rushed into the crowd.
Once in the crowd, the agents hesitated to shoot for fear of hitting their own. Ivy, however, had rushed into the mist of the inhibitory medicine. In seconds, she felt dizzy, her muscles weakened – a highly uncomfortable but unclear feeling.
As Ivy approached, the captain shouted, "Subdue her and catch the target alive."
Four agents rushed, grabbing Ivy's arm. Suddenly, they felt a trance, as if a voice commanded them. This was Ivy's strategy - to control the agents, using them as a physical shield.
In the chaos, dozens of agents were brought under Ivy's control. Dealing with them was easier than dealing with Rumlow, who had a stronger will.
Panting heavily, Ivy rushed outside, protected by the controlled agents. However, SHIELD's plan was far from over. Ivy hadn't gone far before being surrounded by hundreds of people, including leaders like John Garrett, Hawkeye, and the Black Widow.
"Don't let everyone approach. The target can control minds using anesthesia grenades and bombs."
Hundreds of grenades were thrown from all directions. Ivy commanded the controlled agents to fight back while attempting to continue her escape. However, the gap in numbers was too large. Soon, all the agents controlled by her were knocked to the ground, and SHIELD paid the price of dozens of its own people.
"Ivy Pepper, one last warning: surrender immediately; I can guarantee your safety," John Garrett shouted.
Surrounded by hundreds of agents, Ivy knew the situation was dire. The sky and ground were full of muzzles, and the anesthetic grenades and suppression potions were taking a toll on her. Feeling she was about to lose her grip, Ivy desperately recalled what Jude had said that morning.
"If you are in danger, concentrate and shout Warner out, and I will appear to rescue you."
In the current situation, Ivy hesitated. She didn't want Jude to show up; the other party was targeting him, holding his weakness over him.
"Wait... Jude won't be threatened by these people. Maybe he has already realized that someone is going to deal with us; he left me with a method."
Ivy closed her eyes and shouted, "Warner out."
Boom!
In a distant place, Ivy fell to the ground with a gunshot. John Garrett praised into his headset, "Good job, Ward."
On a distant building, Grant Ward put away his sniper rifle, a smile on his face. No one knew whether his smile was for SHIELD or Hydra.
