Bab 1: 1.) Acquisition

November 13th, 2020

Kaya's smile fell when she walked through the door to the board room and saw the way the shareholders were looking at her. There was an awful lot of paperwork laying out in front of them, most of the faces turned away from her unable to look at her directly. "Good morning?" She asked, uncertain. "Where is Kaname?" Yamaguchi asked.

Kaya narrowed her eyes at him. She liked most of the shareholders. By most, she meant all of them but Yamaguchi. Kaname always told Kaya that she was just imagining things, but Kaya insisted he was... "off" somehow. "He'll be here in a moment. Stopped for coffee on the way." Kaya paused, debating what to say next. "Is everything ok? Usually Fridays are more relaxed than this." She chuckles out nervously.

"Miss* Kaya, you should have a seat. We'll wait for your brother." Oiwake tried to soothe. Kaya smiled at her former high school teacher and took her usual seat: the one immediately to the right of the CEO's spot at the head of the board room table. The space where her brother, Kaname, was currently missing from. They sat in silence for over five minutes before Kaname arrived, two coffees in hand.

Sensing the mood in the room, Kaname stopped in his tracks. He looked at his sister, her nervousness evident by the little shake of her upper body from where she was kicking her legs under the table. "Morning everyone. Didn't know there was a board meeting or I wouldn't have stopped at the café. Or at least brought enough for everyone." He attempted to laugh off what was becoming an even more tense situation before taking his seat and handing Kaya her cup.

Oiwake stood and cleared his throat, distinctly giving off the air of being a scapegoat for the rest of the board. "This wasn't a simple decision for us to come to. You know I believe in you kids, and maybe with more time and hard work this wouldn't be an issue. However, none of that changes the board's decision. As you know, Kaname, you hold 25 shares to your sister's 24. The board and our 51 percent ownership have decided to take a very generous offer from a Corporation located in Five Points."

Oiwake's face falls as he sees the betrayal register on the siblings' faces. "WHY?," Kaya shot out angrily. "Haven't we brought Date Tech back to a place where we all can make money? Is that not good enough?" Angry tears began building up in her eyes.

Kaname pulls his sister's arm gently, pulling her back into her chair. Oiwake cleared his throat and attempted to smooth over the situation. "I'm sorry Miss Kaya, this isn't personal, just business. As a collective, we just aren't sure that you and Kaname will keep up this same energy for the company as the years go by. You're getting married in six months and Kaname and Kosuke are thinking about adopting. Soon you'll have other things to worry about that no one would blame you for giving priority to." Kaya sniffles, dragging a hand under her eye to remove the tears from her face. "So much for talking Kenji into waiting another year." She croaked. Oiwake gave her an apologetic look. "That would only postpone the inevitable." He stated as he took his seat again.

Kaname, who'd said nothing so far, sat with his fingertips touching, elbows on the table, and body leaned forward. "What does this mean for us?" He asked, looking up at his former coach. "Well, it's an acquisition. They aren't doing away with the Date Tech name. You'll have a new CEO. We all took the money and are bowing out at this point. We didn't ask the specifics honestly. But the new CEO assured us that as a family company themselves, there would be a place for you and Miss Kaya." Oiwake told them firmly. Kaya stifles a sob and directs her attention to Oiwake. "What's the name of this company? I can at least try to learn what I can about them online before I have to meet them Monday."

She watches Oiwake for a moment, then looks around at the other board members. "It's Seijoh Corp." He says silently. "The Oikawas?" She asks surprised. She knew they competed with them for business from time to time, but she didn't think the larger company even knew they existed. "Yes, Mr. Oikawa will be here in three hours." Yamaguchi tells her, shuddering into his chair. She looks at him contemplatively for a moment, knowing he used to live closer to Atlanta. She wondered if he knew more about the Oikawas than anyone else in the room did. Not really wanting to have a drawn out conversation with him, she decides to drop it.

"Three hours? Right at lunch time." She complained with a sigh. "He hasn't even left Atlanta yet. This acquisition must not mean much to him I guess." She huffed, picturing in her mind the photo of the male in his mid 50s that she'd seen in business magazines over the years. He was kind of handsome for an older man, but even still, he was known as a shark and she was ready for her vengeance for the giant hole he ripped into her soul by buying her family's company right out from underneath her with no warning.

She sighed and got up from the table. "I'll be back in two and a half hours." She let out just above a whisper. Kaname watched his sister leave, debating stopping her but deciding ultimately to give her the space she needed, taking a good guess at where she might be headed to be alone. He then smiled to himself, relieved about no longer having to worry about the burden of being CEO.

Nearly five hours later, having come back from her walk, Kaya sits with her arms crossed over her desk and face resting on her forearm. She lets out another aggravated sigh then checks her phone. She texts Kenji telling him the new boss still hasn't arrived yet then sets the phone back down when she hears a knock at the door. She gets up and moves quickly across the room opening the door, finding Kaname staring back at her. "He's here." Kaname tells her with cheer in his voice. She lets out a relieved sigh and locks her office behind her, following her brother back to the meeting room.

Toru sits on the desk of the meeting room watching Kaname and Kaya enter the room. He smirks at the pair and ignores Kaname to speak first to Kaya. "Oh good, just who I need to see. Be a doll and go get me a coffee. No cream, just three sugars." Kaya stops in her tracks and looks around to see who he might have been talking to. All eyes are on her. "I'm sorry thi-" Kaname starts, being cut off by Toru. "The pretty ones are always a little slow for some reason. You, pretty girl. Bring Coffee. Three Sugars." He tells her condescendingly.

Kaya smiles at him and nods, leaving the room. Kaname looks at him to speak again, but Toru started speaking instead. "Gotta say, we're going to have to replace some of your employees with some of ours, but I don't think I could just get rid of a hot little number like that. Just seeing her got my blood pumping enough to make me nearly forget all about my hangover. Anyway, I'm Toru Oikawa, the new boss or... whatever." Oikawa studies Kaname for a moment, seeing the angry look on his face and the way his hands are clenched at his sides. "Sorry, was that one of your personal office girls or something?" He asks curiously.

Before Kaname could answer, Kaya walked back into the room holding a cup of coffee. Toru smiled at her lazily saying thank you until he saw her hold his eye-contact and spit in the cup while giving him a death glare. "My my, aren't we a feisty one. If you think I have a problem with spit in my coffee, you've got another one coming, doll face." He teases, grabbing the cup from her slowly and taking a sip. "Mmmm, extra sweet." He coos at her before licking his lips sensually. "Maybe later you can give me a taste straight from the source." He winks at her. Kaname blows up, pulling Kaya closer to him. "Stop talking to my sister like that! Fucking Christ, she isn't an assistant. She's President of the fucking company and she has a fiancé." He takes a defensive stance towards Toru.

Toru stands looking down at the siblings for a moment with no shame registering on his face. "What her fiancé doesn't know won't hurt him. And if she isn't an assistant, she could have just said that instead of actually bringing me coffee." He lets out coolly. "I wanted to spit in it." She tells him proudly with a sadistic grin on her face. Oikawa lets out a dangerous hum. "Oh baby cakes, you can put your spit anywhere, concerning me, anytime. Just say the word." He gives a suggestive wink, Kaya rolling her eyes at him and crossing her arms. "Why are you here anyway? You're not Mr. Oikawa." She accused.

"Aren't I though? Last I checked, Oikawa's been my surname for 26 years." She looks closer at him. The same chocolate eyes and messy brown hair she's seen from the CEO of Seijoh Corp looking back at her. "So what, the son is taking over at Seijoh Corp already?" She asks with venom in her voice. Oikawa pushes down the emotional sting at her remark. "No, not Seijoh Corp, just their newly acquired asset, Date Tech." He tells her cockily. Kaya groans and sits at the table in her usual seat. "You were supposed to be here hours ago. Get stuck in traffic?" She asked, sitting back. "No, just didn't wake up until just after 12. Speed here pretty quickly. Made it in just over an hour." He tells her proudly.

Kaya says nothing in response to his disturbing speech and complete lack of shame. She instead opens the notebook she's been carrying since she returned from sitting on the bridge overlooking Sanford Stadium. Toru takes his cue from her that their bickering is over and pulls out his paperwork as well. "Good point, let's get this pesky paperwork out of the way. It's Friday night and all the hotties aren't going to buy themselves drinks." he muses.

An hour later, they finished the necessary paperwork, filling out the parts where Kaname would take over as the Technical Manager while Kaya would become CFO. Oikawa and the Moniwa siblings left Date Tech's final location open, Toru saying he wasn't sure he'd move to Athens and might eventually move Date Tech's physical location up to Five Points rather than moving to their town.

Later that evening, Futakuchi Kenji breathes through his frustration after not being able to get his fiancé Kaya to answer his calls or text for nearly three hours. He takes in a deep breath, burying his feelings before he lets himself in with the key she kept hidden in a false bottom of her front porch light.

Kenji could smell the alcohol when he walked into the apartment, music blaring loud enough he would have sworn he'd just walked into one of the popular bars near campus. Following the sounds, he walks through the living room and past the kitchen towards her room to find Kaya still in her work clothes, hair down around her shoulders, dancing with a half-empty bottle of vodka clutched in her hand. He smiles to himself, glad to see her cutting loose for the first time in a long while. That is, until she turns around to face him and he sees the streams of mascara on her cheeks, her face still soaked in tears.

Letting out a small sigh, Kenji moves to her side and takes the bottle away from a protesting Kaya. "...mine..." Is all he can understand from the other slurred words. "This isn't like you." He scolds, shaking his head. "I'm the irresponsible one in this relationship. Remember?" Kaya laughs a little before she slurs out her next sentence, but Kenji understands well enough to know she's asking why he's there early. "I was worried about you so I drove down tonight instead of waiting until morning." He told her with a sigh, pushing hair out of her face. Kaya started sobbing and allowed herself to slump into his arms.

Kenji held onto her and rubbed her back soothingly as she cried, doing his best to suppress the anger he felt that she was getting her makeup all over his new hoodie. When he felt her go limp against him and start to snore, he sighed heavily. "Seriously, when did I become the caretaker?" He says with a slight chuckle burying his face into her black curls. "You're lucky I love you or I wouldn't put up with you ruining my hoodie and passing out at 9:30 on a rare Friday I get down here from Decatur." He mumbles to her sleeping form as he stands and scoops her up, bridal style.

Kenji shakes his head at the fact she's still wearing one shoe, unsure how she danced like that. He lays her on the bed removing the lone shoe before unbuttoning her dress shirt and reaching behind her to unhook her bra and pull it off of her. "And now I feel creepy looking at your tits with you passed out." He complained. "Small but perky." He chuckles, walking to her dresser to find something to put on her to sleep in. "Maybe one day when we have kids they'll finally get bigger." He mused to himself, placing one of his old shirts she had in the dresser over her head.

He unzipped her skirt, pulling it down with her tights, cursing under his breath when he sees that she's wearing her 'granny panties' and realizes what that means. He walks into the bathroom and looks around finding her pads and reading the box trying to figure out how the hell they work. Feeling certain there's no way he could do all of that, even if she was awake to help him, instead he goes into the kitchen, grabs several paper towels, then stuffs them into her panties. He sighs and pulls his hoodie and shirt over his head together then quickly pulls off his pants, leaving his boxers on. "Got all tired just taking care of you." He whispers before kissing her cheek. "...and Aone said I'd be a terrible husband." He shakes his head, knowing there's a little truth to it.

He wraps an arm around her and closes his eyes. The thought of his long standing, mostly silent, friend brings a slight smile to his face. As he cuddles up to his fiancé, he continues mumbling a one sided conversation into her ear. "Wish you could get up to Decatur more. I swear we need to get settled on a city to live in already. I really don't do well being away from you like this." His voice cracks, tears being held back as he thinks about how much he'd missed her last weekend. There was a large storm and he had to work overtime so he couldn't go see her; he told her it was too dangerous to come up there, despite how badly he'd wanted to see her. It had already been three weeks since their last visit and now that he was finally there, she was on her damn period. Yes, he had missed her company, but he had needs and now he'd have to settle for a blowjob or two.
