The room was dimly lit, the only light was coming from the myriad of screens on the walls. Each screen filled with images and voice recordings. Dr. Hargrove sat in the center, his fingers steepled beneath his chin, a satisfied smile playing on his lips as he observed the chaos he had orchestrated.
Beside him stood Elena, her brow furrowed as she reviewed the voice recording from the previous night.
"This is the recording of last night."
"Perfect. She is doing well. Very well. The ponytail part was precise. Alex has that. Hmm.. You fitted the bugs in the right places, Elena. You deserve a present. Also inform Alex that he should stop following her."
"You really think this is the right way to go about it? What if she becomes too afraid? What if she breaks?
Dr. Hargrove chuckled softly. "That's the beauty of it, Elena. Fear can be a powerful motivator. It will push her to discover what she is truly capable of. And once she does, she will be mine."
He leaned closer to the screen, his eyes glinting with a sinister determination. "You see, I've plotted every event in her life, including her adoption. It was all part of the plan to nurture her abilities."
"But what exactly is her power, Sir?" she asked, her curiosity piqued despite her reservations.
He lean back against his chair. "Its a secret."
"What is she runs away like 007?"
"That is the reason I let her get adopted. I won't let my big plans go down narrow drains. I won't make the same mistake!", he slammed his hand on the table and stood up.
