章 27: We?

Chapter Twenty Seven. (Edited by CDoggo: BBS is pain, someone please kill me.)

''Yoruichi… You need to move on.'' Ichigo's words reached the woman, making her turn towards the boy with a surprised expression on her face. The orange haired soul reapers eyes glowed blue, his anger rising at the thought of one of his friends' death. ''Either go back to find him or move on and save Rukia, I'll deal with this guy somehow.''

''You two quit babbling around.'' Kenpachi interjected, his patience long gone after waiting for all that time just to get a fight. ''I'm telling you both, he's alive, so draw your sword already!''

''Please, Yoruichi.'' Ichigo ignored the man once again, his glance landing on the still undecided woman who appeared to be split apart on what to do. She could head for Rukia, help Ichigo fight Kenpachi or go find Kuromiya, and each one of them had their own risks. ''Just go, I promise I will win this.''

That appeared to be enough to convince the woman, who became nothing but a blur and headed towards the senzaikyu, saving Rukia took priority over her personal feelings about the situation.

''It's about time.'' Zaraki replied, not making any sort of attempt to stop the woman who was now heading towards the white tower. ''Now, since you are done talking… I take it I can start, right?''

. . .

''I didn't.'' Kuromiya smirked at his own words, the reactions of the people nearby only served to further amuse him. His words sent the soul reapers further into despair, each of them having their own personal conclusions about what the vague answer could mean.

''W-what the hell does that mean?'' The soul reaper that had first found him alive questioned, still attempting to crawl back and put some distance in between them.

''I'm sure you would like to know, but I don't feel like explaining it.'' He mused, sheathing his zanpakuto while walking towards the fallen captain. It appeared like the wolf-man was still barely conscious, though he was unable to move or talk.

''Don't move any closer!'' Iba was the first one to react at the teenager's movement, standing up while pointing with his cracked blade at the recovered intruder. ''I won't let you put another finger on my captain!''

''... You know, I really don't like loud people.'' With a small frown forming on his face, Kuromiya released his spiritual pressure and directed it all to the lieutenant, sending him kneeling to the ground. ''Shut up and sit there, I just want to have a few words with your captain.''

With the weakened lieutenant unable to move, this left the nearby soul reapers much in the same position, some of them struggling to breath under the pressure that crushed them.

''P-please…'' The voice of the woman who had been treating the captain's wounds just a few seconds ago talked to him, since she was the closest one to him and the captain, it appeared that she wasn't able to focus under all the reiatsu. ''I n-need to treat his wounds, or else he will die.''

''Now that wouldn't be good, right?'' He frowned at that, there was no way the Soul Society would let him leave the place alive if he killed a captain. With that in mind, he pushed his spiritual pressure back on his body while sending a last look to the unmoving lieutenant. ''Isn't it so much better when you all let me talk? Now, what was I about to say… Ah, right.''

Komamura felt like the kid that defeated him might have something to tell him, so despite the pain he was submerged in, he forced his beaten self to remain focused.

''These people called you Komamura, right? You must be a captain too, and an honorable one at that…'' Kuromiya noted, his anime knowledge aside, someone who was willing to throw a fight to save a few no names was an honorable person in his book. ''I'm sure you all know about our objective by now, so let me ask you this… What do you think about Rukia's execution?''

''You have some guts to talk about honor after what you did to our captain!'' He heard someone scream to him from the sidelines, more than likely coming from another member of squad seven.

''...'' Komamura attempted to open up his mouth to voice his answer, but no words came out of it, just pained coughs.

''Huh, guess you can't talk right now.'' The pale boy noted, disappointed with losing a chance of convincing a captain. He reasoned it was already incredible that the wolf-man was conscious to begin with, so he would have to do the talking. ''Now, on the matter of 'honor', don't get me wrong…''

''I care very little about that stuff.'' Kuromiya started, his glance landing on the defeated captain that still appeared to be hearing his words. ''If you had discarded honor and duty then you might have been able to land a hit on me when I was aiming at your lieutenant… If you had discarded honor, you might have been able to cover yourself from my last attack and still be able to fight.''

''... Make no mistake, Komamura-san. I didn't win this fight, you lost it.''

He vanished in a trail of green light after those few last words, leaving the defeated captain and astonished subordinates in an awkward silence.

. . .

It had been well over a minute or so since Ichigo had started fighting the weakened captain of squad eleven, and it somehow felt like the man was overpowering him no matter what he threw at him.

'What the hell is this guy!?' Ichigo flash stepped away from the man, feeling his hands tremble after his zanpakuto struck the blood-lusting captain.

The hit had been able to make a slight cut across his already wounded chest, but to him it felt as if his hands had almost broken from his sword clashing against the man's skin.

''You can cut me too, then!'' Feeling a trail of blood open up from his chest, Kenpachi smirked while nodding towards his pink haired lieutenant, prompting her to move out of the way. ''This might prove to be fun, after all!''

Ichigo glared at the man, he had been able to focus since the idea of his teammate's death was clouding his concentration, but just when he was about to charge at Zaraki for the fourth time since their fight had started, he felt it.

The sudden appearance of a familiar spiritual energy reached his senses, confirming that his classmate was in fact alive.

. . .

Turning her gaze towards a certain spiritual pressure, Yoruichi's smile returned back to her face. The one reason for which she had decided to move on was her knowledge of 'Bookmark', it was clear to her that Kuromiya wouldn't die without making use of said skill, at the very least.

'I'm almost there, I just need to knock the guards out and that should be it.' Yoruichi told herself, the tower itself shouldn't be guarded too heavily, after all the two teenagers were dealing with the actual threats right now.

She knew better than anyone that it wouldn't be that simple though, one strong spiritual pressure already headed towards her direction, and even if she decided to battle against it, rescuing Rukia before some other captains arrived was nothing more than wishful thinking.

'... This feeling.' While focusing her senses on the person approaching her, it didn't even take an instant for her to recognize it, she had known the person for more than a hundred years after all.

''Byakuya, huh?'' Yoruichi muttered, the memories about her time on the Soul Society coming back to her. The situation had escalated due to Komamura and Kenpachi being around the area, but with him approaching the situation just became even worse.

'I will try to rescue her…' The purple haired woman decided, taking all the different factors into consideration, a retreat wasn't out of the question though. 'If that isn't possible then I will at least have her know that we are here.'

. . .

''Ah, there he goes again…'' With the creepiest smile a man could muster, Gin Ichimaru was watching the whole situation play out in the distance, not bothered in the slightest by the defeat of one of his 'comrades'.

He watched the teenager who had just pulled a win against a captain run away from the place, his amusement only growing at watching the kid wearing some sort of shinigami clothes, with a genuine zanpakuto hanging by his waist.

''This kid is just full of surprises.'' Gin mused, his two sky blue colored eyes watching over his movement without making an attempt to interrupt his retreat. ''I'm sure Aizen-taicho would love to hear about this…''

''Now the question is, should I tell him about it?'' He smirked at that, his silver hair shadowing his vision while turning his gaze towards yet another direction.

Feeling yet a second battle raging on, Ichimaru looked towards where Aizen's first test subject was battling against Kenpachi Zaraki, though the battle itself didn't seem like it was going in the orange haired boy's favor.

No matter what happened, he wouldn't interject in the situation unless they were close to let Rukia out, since that would mess with Aizen's plan, and as a result, with his own plans.

Still, he couldn't help but feel surprised at what had transpired, a human returning from death wasn't something he had been expecting to see, much less one that had no problem in commiting suicide to beat his opponent.

''Honestly, these sure are two creepy kids.''

. . .

'Ichigo started his fight with Kenpachi, huh?' Moving at the max speed he could muster in his current condition, Kuromiya pondered on what to do once he arrived at the battlefield, after all this would be an important moment for Ichigo's strength development.

'Yeah… It's totally not because I don't want to fight Kenpachi again.' The teenager told himself, nodding at his own thoughts. 'He needs the fight or else he won't get close to achieving Bankai, it's for his sake.'

It was clear that his fight against Komamura had attracted a ton of attention, but due to his current broken arm he wasn't quite confident in surviving another encounter against Zaraki, the more he pressured the man, the more strength that battle maniac would release.

'Besides...' He frowned as his senses picked up on a new spiritual pressure, and judging by its direction it was heading towards the senzaikyu, meaning that Yoruichi would have to deal with it if she wanted to save Rukia.

'I'll lend her a hand then, worst case scenario we retreat and make a second attempt once Ichigo achieves Bankai.' The black haired boy decided with a short nod, helping Ichigo would just end up fucking up his growth, and his Bankai was a must have if they wanted to win their future battles.

Unknowingly both him and Yoruichi had ended up coming to the same conclusion, with his broken arm and without knowing at the very least his zanpakuto's name, it just wasn't enough to achieve their current objective.

Once again, he focused his senses on the person that headed towards Yoruichi, taking a little more time on the overall feeling and strength of said reiatsu, and that's when it hit him.

''Oh… '' He felt like laughing, recognizing at last just whom it belonged to. ''It sure has been a while, Byakuya Kuchiki.''

His speed doubled after those last few words, Kuromiya wasn't about to lose his chance to face the one person that had been able to defeat him.

. . .

Rukia Kuchiki was having one of the worst days she'd experienced since she had been locked inside the senzaikyu, and that was a lot to say considering that her execution was scheduled in just a few more days.

''That was Captain Komamura's Bankai.'' She reasoned, it was hard for her to miss the form of a hundred meters long samurai, even if she only had a small prison cell window to see through. ''I'm sure it was, and this spiritual pressure that i'm feeling must be Captain Zaraki too…''

''Just what's going on out there?'' The black haired girl asked herself, two captains fighting at the same time wasn't something that one would see quite often, much less in the middle of the seireitei.

''S-stop right there!'' The voice of one of the guards was heard inside of the tower, muffled by the giant door that locked her inside it, though she could still hear the nervousness leaking from his voice. ''Don't take another step, this is our last warn''

The scream of the guard was heard immediately after, and the sound of two bodies hitting the floor reached her ears, making her glance towards the door.

''Hm, it's hard to contain myself after so long.'' The melodious voice of a female was heard from the entrance, followed by the sound of the main entrance opening up, and much to her disbelief the locked door opened up, revealing a young woman waving at her from it. ''This place sure isn't very welcoming, how about we step out?''

''... Who are you?'' Rukia had no idea of who was the woman in front of her, but no sane person would attempt to save her, no matter their position.

''Oh, that's right.'' Purple hair fell on the young woman's body, and soon enough the full figure of Yoruichi Shihoin entered the cell, her trademark sly smirk was a huge contrast from the grim place around them. ''You don't know me just yet, right? I'm Yoruichi Shihoin.''

''Shihoin!?'' Her eyes widened, it would take a fool to not understand just what was the meaning behind that name.

''Yes, but that doesn't matter right now.'' Yoruichi dismissed her words with a quick hand gesture, they had more relevant things to talk about right now.

''Listen, we won't be able to take you out from here right now since… Well, that pesky brother of yours is coming to stop us, and now that I think of it Ukitake is coming too.'' She added, but didn't seem quite worried despite the fact she had basically admitted two captains were coming for them.

However, there was something Yoruichi had said that stuck with Rukia more than the mention of her brother.

''We?''

Next chapter we are getting a retreat and ofc Ichigo starts his bankai training, alongside Kuromiya attempting to master Shikai!

Welp, i had planned to make a retreat this chapter but i realized it made no sense right now, so that has to wait until Byakuya arrives, a small fight between them happens and then both of them retreat.

I don't have much to say tbh, i really liked this chapter too plus i think it shows a little bit more on how Kuromiya thinks. I want to make it clear, Kuromiya doesn't care one bit about honor, and like you all saw he has no problem attacking a defenseless man.

Now, Gin is lurking too, i added that piece of information because i thought there was just no way Aizen didn't have either Tousen or Gin keeping an eye on the situation to control it in case the group was close of saving Rukia, a little new piece of information there.
