I looked at her, trying hard to at least pretend to be shocked. I couldn't do it. I began to giggle and then it turned into a full-on belly laugh when I saw her glaring at me.

"I'm sorry," I said, biting my lip until it almost bled to stop the after giggles.

"I can't wait for your first real night in the club, Mia. You'll see how hard it is," she said warningly.

"Yes. It's hard remembering not to talk back to the Dom's and to do as you're told. But the fun we've had, wouldn't you say that's worth it?" Jordan said putting his hand on Lizzie's knee.

Right in front of me, I watched my sarcastic, bitchy, and bad-to-the-bone friend melt into putty and give Jordan 'The Goo-Goo Eyes' as she used to call them. I would have to remind her of this moment the next time she started cracking wise about someone else.

"Totally," she said with a sweet smile and there was silence in the car for a while as we were all lost in our own little world.
