His voice took on an evil tone and a picture formed in my mind of an evil grin on his face.

"What did you do?" I asked almost afraid to breathe.

"I told her she could go back to the man she left me for. I didn't have time for her dramatics because I had to get home to a beautiful sub," he told me.

I felt warmth rise in me and I knew in an instant that I had fallen hard. Despite all the concerns and all the fear, I knew at that moment that I loved him.

I opened my mouth to tell him so. But the moment was ruined as I heard another voice on the other end.

"Damn it, Nina. What the hell do you want?" I heard him growl.
