章 26: Chapter 26: The Beginning
Law turned to Erik "You can have your revenge on him magneto."
Erik nodded as he started walking towards Shaw.
Charles looked at Erik and said "Forget about the past Erik. Think about the present and the future."
But Erik just ignored him.
Erik looked at Shaw coldly "All because of you, I had to run my entire life, You killed my mother....." as Erik was about to kill Shaw with the coin.
Charles stopped him by entering his mind "No Erik. You can't do this. Remember, You are the better man."
Charles was not using his full power since he thought it wasn't necessary and Erik will listen to him. Erik managed to take the metal helmet out of Shaw's head and placed it on his own with difficulty effectively becoming Magneto.
The helmet blocked Charles telepathy. He continued what he was doing as he said "You won't understand my pain Charles."
He lodged a coin in Shaw's head killing him.
"Nooooo" Charles shouted
While this was happening the other mutants and Law just watched silently. Azazel, Riptide and Angel also woke up to see their boss getting killed.
At this time Law sensed with his observation haki that there were ships coming towards the island and were getting ready to fire.
He had a decision to made, he can just stop these ships from firing here and maybe there would be no brotherhood in the future and no x men either.
And if there were neither of those then the mutant would continue to get experimented on and there wouldn't be any one to save them. Some mutants would even get violent and there would be no one to stop them and put them in prison. Threats like the dark phoneix, Apocalypse would not be solved.
Yes, He could be the one to solve them and save the other mutants but he was not here to babysit the world and save it everytime, he wanted to enjoy his life like he wanted. He will help them in cases like Apocalypse but helping each mutant that was a no go for him.
On the other hand, He could let the scene play out and let the ships fire on the island and let magneto deal with them with Charles trying to save them.
This would lead to the creation of X men and brotherhood of mutants. Brotherhood although used violence in its early stages, they still manage to save mutants from people that experiment on them. But the fact remains they will be criminals. But the Criminal mutants would be required as that would increase the importance of the other mutants and particularly the X men to deal with the criminal mutants.
In the end he decided to let the scene play out and not interfere. He can deal with the brotherhood anytime they cause him trouble.
After killing Shaw, Magneto looked at the other Mutants.
"Do you all want to live in a world where you are experimented on, hunted down and where your life is in danger constantly? What about your families?" Magneto said
"Erik you have to give humanity a chance. Not all humans are the same."
"Humanity has always feared that which is different. But I am here to tell the world, they have the right to fear us! We are the future! We are the ones who will inherit this earth! And anyone who stands in our way will suffer the same fate as Shaw here! We will give them a glimpse of the devastation our race can unleash upon theirs! This will be a warning to the world. And we can find and save other mutant brothers and sisters out there, I say this: no more hiding. No more suffering. We have lived in the shadows in shame and fear for too long. Join me. Fight together in a brotherhood of our kind! A new tomorrow, that starts today!" Magneto said in a dramatic way.
Azazel, Riptide and Angel didn't take a second to think as they joined his side. Erik continued looking at the other mutants and then he focused his attention towards Law.
"That was a nice speech out there, quite boring I would say. But you see I don't want to go in this whole business. You can always get my help by using my mercenary services. Of course only to save the mutants and deal with the ones who experiment on them. I won't be taking part in your terrorizing humans thing. Oh, You would still have to pay me." Law said winking
"Before I leave, I should probably give you some advice. Terrorizing humans would just make you more 'evil' in the eyes of humans. Yes, You could show them your power without harming them and make them realise what the mutants can do if they are put in a tough position."
"Of course they would still fear you, but maybe it would lead you somewhere. You can also try getting higher positions in political structure of the countries. Mutants have not come to light yet and if more people would know about mutants it would be bad for only the hiding mutants. So you should remain in hiding and increase your political siding and then help other mutants."
"See, Violence is not an option Erik. We should give..." Charles said and started preaching co existence between humanity and mutants.
"You are naive Charles. Humanity wouldn't accept you just like that. Politics and Military is the key. You should think about saving the mutants with the help of getting higher positions or contacts in these two places. I hope you two big brains understood something."
"Alright now it's time for me to go. Remember to use my services. Death Surgeon would do any 'ethical' thing for money. Oh and magneto keep your activities away from my city. I wouldn't want to kill you or your lackeys.Ciao" Law waved as he disappeared.
While both Charles and Erik were contemplating about Law's words. Erik sensed something.
"Humans are attacking the island with missiles. You still believe in them Charles? Tell me I am wrong." Erik said angrily
Charles confirmed it and panicked.
The scene played out as the missiles were launched towards the island. Erik used his powers to send them back to the ships but Charles stopped him but in the process was still shot at his spine. Raven joined the brotherhood as they teleported away with the help of Azazel leaving the other mutants with a Charles who couldn't feel his legs anymore.
This was the start of the constant battles between X- men and the Brotherhood of mutants. While the Death Surgeon would often get caught in between the two.
