章 71: A Welcome Nonetheless

Nurarihyon POV:
As I wait for the Angel at Kyoto station, I regret having even accepted this because I could have been enjoying some sake and relaxation at my complex, but nooo. I have to wait for some girly-looking feathered pacifist.
As the train pulled into the station, I reviewed the picture of the man or Angel's face with an essential dossier of his powers.
All the people begin to disembark, but what surprises me is that he does not leave the car. In fact, he has been on top of the train, meditating.
Once the train comes to a complete stop, he opens his eyes and looks directly at me, which should be impossible as I am hiding my presence, and does a slight head bow.
Then it gets even more surprising as well. The man has no visible weapons, nor is he wearing armor but a giant three-piece suit. He stands up on the train and appears right in front of me.
When did they make Angels this big? This man is likely nearly 9 feet tall, and I know that angels are not shapeshifters who lie in their devilish companions.
He bowed before me and introduced himself, "Lord Nurarihyon, I am Anakim. It is an honor to meet a legendary figure such as yourself, and I find it a privilege that you have waited for me to arrive."
His manners do surprise me as well. I know angels are of a righteous sort, and most of them, when dealing with Japanese Yokai, like to answer with their swords first.
"Do not bow very large, Angel, for a man of your stature should not do so as I sense your strength. Hey, if you succeed in your negotiations, we may share a drink. I know a couple of areas within the Yokai section of the city that make drinks so great that they'll have you drunk for a week straight."
As I laugh at some of the memories I have had in those bars, the Angel smiles, which is a good thing because I have had enough time dealing with those who barely give me a smile as I tell my jokes.
But enough laughing for now as I have to do with our little follower, and I assume the Angel knows as well as he gives me a side-eye look.
"Lady Kunou, your mother would be very disappointed that you are following a delegation like this."
As I say this, I hear some shuffling from some of the lockers on our left; I then give our Angel a look, which he nods as I blend in with the Shadows and appear behind the little Kitsune.
The girl is a prodigy but requires more incentive to train that she's barely able to recognize my presence before I lift her up.
The girl cutely begins to struggle in my hands as I bring him towards the Angel, and as she sees him, she goes wide-eyed, which is understandable as the young lady is barely four feet tall, and next to him, she might as well be a newborn babe.
The large Angel then bows again and greets the leader's daughter. "Good evening, Lady Kunou. I am Anakim, and I compliment you on your stealth skills, as I was only able to notice you in brief passes."
This seems to bring the girl's spirits up as she smiles before saying, "Of course, Lord Angel, welcome to Kyoto, and can I ask for a favor?"
In the last part, she essentially whispers as the Angel gives her a curious look. "May I be able to ride on your shoulders?"
This causes the Angel to just smile as he looks to me for permission, and I give him a nod but keep my eyes on him.
He then places his large hands on the little fox and puts her on his shoulders.
The lady then looks around as if marveling at the new sights from her new height.
"Wow, everything looks so small from up here, but enough dilly-dallying onward!" At that comment, the Angel just chuckles as we move towards the Yokai quarter.
The walk itself takes around 15 minutes as we are not allowed to fly nor teleport due to our or, more precisely, the Angel's foreign presence.
But now that I focus on it, this Angel is different. Other than his obviously large stature, he feels a lot heavier spiritually. I can practically see the land around him beginning to purify as he walks, and the natural energy becomes far less angry and violent.
The Angel then begins some conversation: "Lord Nurarihyon, why are the yokai staring at me?"
I almost laugh as this Angel is nearly radiating pure natural energy, even if he does not realize it, which attracts Yokai like a light next to a group of moths. It almost worries me that he will meet our leader, but this is her home territory, so I need not fear.
"Well, Young Angel, you are seemingly radiating a large amount of pure nature energy, which is an oddity in and of itself as nature energy is most often corrupt and violent, and I've met your lord Archangel Michael, and even he does not give off this presence."
What I say seems to surprise the Angel as he returns to pondering. At the same time, lady Kunou asks him questions about heaven, which he answers most other than obviously classified information.
"One day, I will grow as tall as you, Anakim-kun." This causes the Angel to chuckle, and she begins to pinch his face, which I almost reprimand her for, but the Angel gives me a look, saying, it's alright.
The Angel then pauses and says to the young fox, "And I fully believe you could do so, lady Kunou, but try to enjoy your life as you can never know what surprises this universe can throw at you, and being this tall does have its disadvantages why do you think I was riding on top of the train?"
This causes the lady to place her fingers on her chin and think about it, but then this seemingly overloads her young brian, and she fizzles out and leans on the large Angel's head.
It's a wonder that the little lady is even this familiar with the Angel, but I would attribute it to the Angel's general demeanor and the fact that his natural energy is very pure.
What most do not know is that I am a master of deception. I can tell the truth from a lie as quickly as most breathe. He has not lied once, and what he said to the young lady was true, and now even I am thinking of the disadvantages of being tall.
But as we are about to enter the Yokai quarter, a barrier is throwing up, causing the sky to glow within a kaleidoscope of colors.
I prepare myself for battle as the Angel takes the lady into his arms in a protective manner.
Then human magicians begin to appear around us, and as they say nothing, they begin to attack us, with me beginning to create shadow constructs and using my killing intent to stun a large majority of them as the Angel then creates a holy shield around the young lady that floats around him as his wings then extend.
But his wings are slightly different as they seem more metallic, and then his armor appears along with a giant spear that even brings me fear, which is seemingly not affecting the young fox due to the holy barrier.
And with one slam of the butt of the spear onto the ground, golden chains appear across every one of the magicians, and as the Angel reaches out his arm, all of the magicians fall unconscious as if their strings were cut.
When I turn to the Angel, he dissipates the holy barrier and the barrier surrounding us, and the skies return to normal. And when I give him a questioning look, he shrugs and says.
"I guess I must include some more aggressive negotiations during my stay here."
I smile back as I think I will like this Angel and then challenge him to a drinking contest after this is all over.
