章 49: Chapter 49 : He is the owner of the notebook, Zhou Cheng!

Journalling In Marvel

Chapter 49

"Stark."

Yinsen's voice rang out as he pushed his glasses up, hardly able to contain his excitement, "I think we might actually have a chance of being rescued."

"Yes, you're right, that's what I think too."

Tony Stark nodded in agreement.

But that being said, Tony Stark didn't leave as carelessly as Zhou Cheng had suggested.

On the contrary.

Tony Stark turned back again and focused his attention on Zhou Cheng.

The reason being, Tony Stark needed to understand exactly what kind of situation they were facing.

If the Ten Rings terrorists had really been eliminated, then lingering here for a bit longer wouldn't hurt.

But if that wasn't the case, rashly rushing out could be even more dangerous.

So, Tony Stark needed to clear that up.

"You don't look like military personnel."

After a quick glance at Zhou Cheng, Tony Stark came to a basic judgment, "Independent contractor? Mercenary?"

To Tony Stark, it seemed like those were the only two possibilities.

But the key question was, why was this person dressed in plain clothes?

No tactical gear, no bulletproof helmet, no combat boots, not even any weapons!

Moreover, the person's clothes were tattered and full of holes.

It looked as if he had been hit by countless bullets.

Tony Stark could see clearly that the person wasn't even wearing a bulletproof vest!

If those were really bullet holes, how could he still be alive?

But if they weren't bullet holes, then what were those holes?

Non-mainstream fashion?

Besides that.

The person was also wearing a mask on his face.

A mask that seemed completely out of place and could even be described as ridiculous.

Tony Stark was somewhat baffled.

Why would a well-trained special forces member wear such a mask on a dangerous mission?

So~

What was the situation with this guy?

Even someone like Tony Stark was momentarily puzzled.

"Who I am is not important."

Zhou Cheng deliberately lowered his voice, "What's important is, Stark, you're lucky that someone is willing to pay a great deal to save you."

Although he didn't answer directly, this was effectively an answer to Tony Stark's question.

Indeed, he was hired by someone else for a rescue.

Mercenary or independent contractor, both roles were essentially the same.

"See, what did I tell you?"

Yinsen shrugged nonchalantly on the side, jesting in good spirits, "We really owe you one, I got saved too."

"So~ you really did come to rescue me?"

Despite it seeming obvious, Tony Stark was still somewhat skeptical.

The notebook had said something different!

But Zhou Cheng had no intention of clarifying for Tony Stark and instead began to casually pace around the cave, glancing around.

He was searching for something.

What was it?

Naturally, the blueprints for the original Mark armor.

Though the ten million dollar fee was already secured, since he was already here, there was no need to miss out on such a treasure, right?

Just a convenient opportunity.

"Here it is!"

The layout of the cave was simple, and Zhou Cheng quickly brightened up as he spotted the blueprints on the shelf.

Without any unnecessary words, he picked them up.

"Hey!" Tony Stark immediately went to stop Zhou Cheng, "That's my stuff."

"From now on, it's not!"

Zhou Cheng did not pay attention to Tony Stark.

Without any courtesy, he pocketed the schematics into his somewhat tattered clothing.

Tony Stark: "..."

Are you sure you're here to rescue me?

Shouldn't you check and confirm the situation of the rescue target before you start looting?

What kind of independent contractor or mercenary are you?

Are you here to save a person or to save schematics?

"Wait a minute!"

Tony Stark suddenly paused mid-complaint, sensing something amiss.

This guy entered the cave and immediately started searching, taking the schematics as soon as he found them.

It was all done without any hesitation.

It seemed... as if he knew the schematics were there all along!

But that's exactly where the problem lies.

Aside from me, Tony, and Yinsen, no one else knew about these schematics.

Including the Ten Rings gang!

Under these circumstances, the behavior of the masked man seemed highly suspicious.

Why?

Why would he know there were schematics in the cave?

Or is it...

Was he not really looking for schematics, but something else, and just happened to find the schematics?

But why stop immediately after finding the schematics!

Something isn't right!

No matter how much I think about it, it doesn't add up.

"Could it be..."

After much contemplation, Tony Stark could only think of one possibility.

Could it be?

That the masked man is Zhou Cheng, the owner of the diary?

After all, he's the only one besides me and Yinsen who knew about the schematics!

And he mentioned in his diary that he wanted to get his hands on them!

Could it be that Zhou Cheng, the owner of the diary, has arrived!?

Is it possible?

Didn't he not know exactly where the cave was?

A multitude of questions suddenly overwhelmed Tony Stark, making his gaze towards Zhou Cheng grow increasingly strange.

"Alright, let's go!"

However, Zhou Cheng didn't notice the look in Tony Stark's eyes.

Having found the schematics and feeling quite pleased, he casually signaled Tony Stark to follow, and started to withdraw as if nothing had happened.

"Wait a minute!"

Tony Stark instinctively called out.

"What's up?"

Zhou Cheng turned back, giving Tony Stark a strange look.

"Do you know what those schematics are?"

Tony Stark stared at Zhou Cheng with a meaningful look.

"Looks like good stuff, anyway!"

Zhou Cheng obviously wouldn't admit it, giving a noncommittal answer.

Of course.

He knew his actions were highly questionable, and such an answer wouldn't dispel Tony Stark's doubts, but he didn't care.

After all, Tony Stark didn't know his identity, did he?

Let the playboy think what he wants.

However, what Zhou Cheng didn't know was that Tony Stark actually wanted to inquire about the diary, not the schematics!

Yet, he changed his question at the last moment.

Because Tony Stark suddenly realized something important.

The owner of the diary, Zhou Cheng, apparently didn't know that Tony Stark could read it too, which is why he was so blatant about "spoiling" various things on it.

But what if he knew all about it?
