"I–I can?" Rui Ye appeared so stunned by the sudden stroke of luck that his first reaction was not joy, but doubt. His expression was literally asking, 'You're not joking around with me, are you?'

Song Zhuyu couldn't help but laugh again, amusement dancing in his silver eyes. Here he was, finally granting the permission for the man to touch his hair, only to be doubted as such. "What? Have I ever lied to you?" He challenged with an arched brow, rendering the other momentarily speechless. "Or we can just forget about—"

"Wait, wait, wait!" Rui Ye hurriedly interjected before Song Zhuyu could retract his offer. "I believe, of course I believe in you! Can I really touch it… now?" he asked with a tone full of hope. 

"Sure, go ahead," Song Zhuyu chuckled softly. "I will even stay still for you. Ain't I the most generous?"
