章 61: Chapter 60 : Competition Final
Standing at the center of the field, Kai looked at the ground trying to calm his mind from any distraction that was on his head.
He didn't know why he couldn't stop his mouth from grinning because he was able to reach this far.
As he expected, the one who successfully came to the final was Neji, who he was pretty sure became a lot stronger than the original Neji in the series because of the presence of his father that still personally teaches him.
He was really glad to be able to reach this far in this competition despite not being able to use his chakra.
He knew that the part of it was thanks to the new enlightenment that he got from Shisui that made him realize something that he really has been missing.
Also the fact that most of the students are still new from using his chakra became one of the reasons he can reach this far, if he does not keep trying his hardest maybe he is going to be left behind in the next year competition.
After calming himself Kai looked at his teacher who seemed to be waiting for him and nodded his head as a sign that he was ready.
Taking a deep breath, Kai finally put all unnecessary thought out of his mind and put all of his concentration into his opponent.
"Hyuga Neji…"
"Might Kai…"
"Give your opponent a sign of confrontation."
Putting his hand on the position, Kai looked at Neji who was also staring at him.
"START…!!!"
Different from what everyone thought were two contestants instantly attacking each other they were both still in their position without moving an inch.
Neji knew that his ideal position was on the defensive stance where he can maximize his taijutsu against a very fast opponent.
Kai also knew that the moment he was in range of Neji's attack he was going to really be in a disadvantageous position but he also doesn't have any choice, he can't force Neji out of his ideal position only using ninja tools alone.
Feeling that it is going to become really awkward if both of them keep staying in their place, Kai starts moving closer to where Neji is.
He could feel that the moment he was inside the certain radius from where Neji was standing his instinct was triggered and made him on full alert.
Using his full speed Kai lunged towards Neji and attacked it with his flying kick that targeted Neji face who's able to block his kick.
While he was still in the middle of the air he could feel his instinct warning him of incoming danger, without hesitation he grabbed the kunai and threw it to where those feelings were coming from to buy him some time to land on the ground where he started retreating to the outside perimeter.
Kai looked at Neji who was still in a defensive position that he realized became really problematic because the moment his attack landed all of his acceleration was going to be stopped and make him an easy target to be hit.
He could exploit cage bird weakness but he knew the moment he used it the relationship between both of them was going to become really bad and it's not worth it only for academy fighting competition.
After thinking of another solution he starts running towards Neji who always seems to have his eyes follow him around, when he arrives near Neji's attack radius he does his kick that only has half of the power before retreating a few steps back to make sure that he always maintains his speed advantage.
He kept his pressure and kept attacking Neji who were still in a defensive position.
The more he attacks the faster it becomes but it seems Neji still does not get overwhelmed by how fast he was.
After a little while Kai retreated more than he usually does and threw all the kunai from his purse before using all of his power and putting all of those in his legs.
"Dynamic Entry."
Kai uses his flying kick towards Neji and finally successfully hits it in the chest that makes Neji get thrown to the ground.
While still in his guard, Kai looks at Neji who's already getting up from the ground and back to his feet.
"As expected I can't defeat you without using my chakra and my eyes."
Kai looks at Neji who says those words while cleaning blood from his mouth.
"You can use all of your power Neji, we are here not to spar with each other but to compete."
"Also to show our capabilities as ninja."
Kai sees the veins on the surroundings of Neji's eyes more visible, raising his guard up Kai sees Neji who seems enhancing himself with chakra with how fast Neji was running.
Not wanting to become a sitting duck in his position and get beaten up, Kai also started running towards Neji.
He could feel that the closer he got the more his instinct triggered for the upcoming danger but he kept advancing despite all of it.
He wanted to test his capabilities when facing someone that is the same age as him, who has really good talent and is also hard working in his training.
He wanted to know if he was already giving it all in his training with the cheat that he got or if he was actually not trying hard enough while he was training.
While both of them are in the range of each other they start fighting each other, despite the advantage in his speed that he got Kai already at disadvantage because of differences in their taijutsu technique that came from the Hyuga clan and standard taijutsu.
Moreover the fact that Neji was using his chakra and his eyes power made Kai know how troublesome it was to fight Hyuga in close range.
Both of them kept fighting each other with shouting from the spectators who's watching the match that added to the intensity of the fight.
Kai feels that he becomes a lot weaker the more he keeps fighting that also makes his speed decrease a lot more because he can't get out of the rhythm that Neji put in their fight.
"Ugggghhh…"
Getting hit really hard in his stomach Kai was sent flying to the ground, he could feel intense pain from his stomach.
While his vision was getting blurry looking at the sky, he promised to himself to increase the intensity of his training.
