It will be a major spoiler if I had to explain but yes, he will hurt good people because of his obsession with surviving, and no, the MC is not the kind to willingly commit cruel act, he does only if he has to. While he won’t willingly commit cruel acts, he is willing to resort to darker, ruthless choices, in the name of survival. Few examples of his future actions for you to decide if he's on your standard (slight spoilers ahead): 1. Using his knowledge of future events, Eclipse will manipulate people into believing he’s either a prophet or, even more dangerously, the prophesied Hero—a role taken very seriously in this world. 2. He’ll tap into dark mana (a power associated with demons) as it becomes his only viable source of strength. 3. Eclipse will even distribute dark mana to his followers, which is bound to draw suspicion and fear. 4. In his quest for survival, he won’t hesitate to eliminate threats, even on a large scale, if necessary. Ultimately, Eclipse’s obsession with survival will blur the line between calculated villainy and true darkness, leading to major consequences down the line.

I've planned this story for so long and it took inspirations from a Korean Novel that I read 'I became a third-rate villain in the hero academy and the Anime 'The Eminence in Shadow'.
