The Hisui Region used to have ancient people living there, but then an unknown disaster happened wiping them out. Afterward, the island became very populated with wild Pokémon that were sometimes much larger and stronger than normal. The League tried researching what happened and the cause but the amount of resources they were dumping into the expedition was extremely high. Plus after years of finding nothing, they gave up and left the island, marking it off-limits to the public and labeling it a dangerous place recommended to Champion Ranked trainers only.

The check-up itself brought no big surprises, but I was happy to note that quite a few of my Pokemon had made visible progress, and I was sure that it wouldn't take long for one or two of them to advance to the next sub-stage or to break through. I told Hestia/Eevee, who was the only member of the Eevee Squad that had yet to evolve as much since she was in a bit of a hurry to advance to the (high) silver stage so that she could evolve to Flareon.

Thankfully the Eevee in my lap was a male, while the ones the girls were going gaga over were all female. I just hoped they all weren't from the same batch of eggs, but even if that was the case I still had Ditto whenever I did get around to breeding them. (A.N. oddly enough, looking at the statistics as I'm writing this, nearly ninty percent of Eevee are male for some reason. Also, if anyone has a specific request for Ace's Eevee then feel free to comment it, but remember that I don't use friendship as an evolution mechanic. I'll even consider a brand new evolution form, if it makes sense.)

This continued until the sun began to dip beyond the horizon, and the self-important looking lifeguard that was on duty began blowing his whistle to warn us that the beach would be closed to the public at sundown. Seriously, the dude even had a pair of aviators that matched his own for his Golduck.

YAY FOR FLAREON!! MY FAVORITE OF ALL POKEMON!
That naturally caught everyone's attention and caused their excitement to rise since this phenomenon meant that Hestia's evolution had triggered something extra. Going by the fact that it was noticeable like this, it had to be an extensive change, so it was either a modifier or a talent that affected Hestia on a more comprehensive level. Either way, it was great news for her.
