A rookie named Kobe Bryant is given his first-ever start in his first regular season match by the lakers against the Pistons. Will he succeed or crumble?
The match starts. Shaquille O'Neal wins the jump ball and passes to Eddie Jones, who can't dribble for his life and loses the ball, which becomes a turnover.
The ball gets thrown to Terry Mills, who dribbles it and goes for a three-pointer. Unfortunately, the ball hits the backboard, and it's no good.
Elden Campbell grabs the defensive rebound, starts dribbling forward, and goes for a fast break. He successfully manages to outrun his opponents.
Upon entering the three-point line, he jumps up and takes the shot.
The ball flies toward the basket, reaches the rim, then swishes inside the basket.
Elden Campbell has finally broken the nil-nil score and secured his team two points and the lead.
Laker 2 - Detroit 0
Detroit quickly does the throw-in and passes it forward. Lindsey Hunter receives it. He quickly moves, finds a good shooting position, and takes a mid-range shot.
It goes towards the board and spins on the rim but, in the end, falls off.
Terry Mills, who was nearby, quickly jumped up and grabbed an offensive rebound. Terry then passes to Joe Dumars at the three-point line.
Joe quickly attempts a three-pointer. Unfortunately, the ball bounces right off the backboard, and Terry is forced to jump again to grab another offensive rebound.
Terry, who had lost trust in his teammates at this point, lands on his feet, immediately jumps back up and goes for a layup.
Kobe Bryant sees this and tries his best to defend and quickly fouls Terry but the Laker's luck seems to have run out as the ball goes in.
The layup is good, but Terry manages to even win a foul.
Terry Mills stood at the free throw line, calm and collected, like a man who has his life and is happy and satisfied with it.
He then shoots the ball, and as expected, it goes in. The first free throw is good.
Before the second free throw, he doesn't seem like the same man anymore.
The man who was once happy and had everything had just discovered something tragic. Perhaps while he was slaving away for his family, his wife cheated on him with his brother.
As expected, with those shaky hands, Terry misses the second free throw.
The lakers do a quick throw-in, and the ball gets passed forward and ends up in the hands of Elden Campbell once again.
Elden Campbell quickly tries to ditch his defender and goes in for a low post shot but is denied as his defender isn't some random but the robust Grant Hill.
Even though Grant Hill only had three years in his belt at this point, this season is when he started to ball like a madman.
As Grant Hill would, in reality, go on to average 21.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.7 blocks this season.
Going back to the game, the ball was still in the air after being deflected by Grant Hill but didn't touch the ground as Eddie Jones quickly grabbed an offensive rebound.
Eddie Jones then stepped back and shot a three from the outside the three-point line.
The ball quickly flew towards the basket; as expected, it was all net. The lakers supporters in the crowd go wild with cheers.
