Lorian found himself in the medieval European style world, thinking he went back in time. However, upon inquiring, he realized history, customs and as such were different. This was a whole new world he knew nothing about. A place where powerful were respected and feared, a place where monsters and different races existed. After a lucky encounter, Lorian manages to secure a job, home and survival. However, the world is large and ready to be explored. Lorian won't be lost in mediocrity. This is his destiny. Nonetheless, everyone starts from a low point in life. Fast growth and OPness seemed impossible even with the help of system. , Life is neither game nor a bunch of numbers. It's far more complex and unpredictable. We don't know where we stand in the future, or is there even future prepared for us? I always thought that overused motto in wuxia novels, '' I want to control my destiny '' was cliche and we had less control over our lives as they are dictated by many other factors. This world taught me otherwise, thus this place shall be my new beginning. '
His only wish is to find a way to turn back into a human and live a life without regrets. Book cover artist: Jeko98
This is the story of the depraved fiend who sold his soul for the power for revenge. For bringing justice to himself, he will do anything.
In the sea of stars, the experts gather. Their origins, mindset, and experiences differ, but they have something in common - they all speak the language of power. The absolute might, that nothing can chain has the power to silence everything. In all eras, there were always people who ruled and those, who were ruled. Only the mightiest can set these laws and control others and their own fate. The path of the sovereign is filled with blood and corpses. Calamity was neither the fiercest nor mightiest man to have lived. He was born the day his family was massacred, hence his name. His name held another meaning, the hope, that one day he would return as a calamity to his enemies. Considering his talents and background, he reached unimaginable heights and fulfilled his family's last wish. Unfortunately, his end wasn't pleasant. He died in the hands of junior, whose realm was lower than his. He had worked harder than others, yet it never truly made up for the gap between him and those who never lacked the care of mighty experts and had access to limitless cultivation resources. Still, at the peak of his life, he was pretty strong, but never did he have time to settle down and enjoy what he had. He had come that far with undying persistence and unshakable willpower in the first place, but...it still wasn't enough. Before his soul was destroyed along with his body, he resolutely decided to give everything up and flee for his life, as he escaped with the secret technique, towards an unknown destination. As fate would have it, the luck was on his side this time, as he managed to successfully give himself the second chance. Will the scenario repeat itself, or will he walk upon the path of the sovereign in this life? God only knows...
Some people are born with silver spoons in their mouths, while others not. People aren't born equal. From birth, they are set apart from each other by destiny... There are some individuals, however, whose fate cannot be measured even by heavens. They are not born as oddities. They become...destiny cultivators, the devourers of destiny. Ren was born with thin, fragile meridians. Not to mention having a talent at cultivation, he was diagnosed to not live a day past 40 years. Humiliated, beaten, despised...he was fated to die a mortal, but everything changed that day, the day of his awakening. Join the journey of Ren, who changes his fate by killing and devouring the destiny of people, who wouldn't even consider him an ant in the past. PS: I don't own the cover. Multipartite: I may indeed be suffering the effects of a cognitive bias(?) I cannot currently find the name of, in which (to paraphrase) the inherent quality of specific things I'm not familiar with is treated by me as better than that of things I am sufficiently-familiar-with-to-recognise-errors-in.
While this may have affected the intensity of my emotions (and my likelihood of reading chapters past this one), I have hopefully avoided making any thus-influenced comments regarding the work or its author, my comments staying on the level of specific content-targeted tsukkomis.
The appropriateness of pouring it out and the place:
So far, other than asking questions about things I'm curious about, my main reason thus far to open chapters' comments sections has been to tsukkomi something that bothered me, whether a story part that seems to make no sense or a character choice that seems to make no sense (which I believe I understand to often be intentional on the part of the author, as with choices of low-competence cannon fodder characters).
The relief I feel after a tsukkomi is the same as the relief I feel when I read that someone else has already made the same tsukkomi (and thus no reason for me to--I instead tend to Like those comments, and smile when others Like or reply with agreement or food-for-thought to my comments). As an example, the doubts about cancer cells dying from the methods used to prevent new cancer. ((In chemotherapy, you don't kill cancer cells by making all your cells healthier, you kill them by making all your cells sicker with poison and letting the fast-proliferating ones bear the brunt...))
In websites in which I would have to register to comment, I feel an uncomfortable feeling from not sharing such reactions with others.
'place' versus 'pouring':
If pouring is appropriate, but the place is not, then I am troubled as to the recommended venue--it does not seem appropriate to me to grab a non-reader, start a lengthy explanation of context, then finish by explaining why a part made me want to tsukkomi. (In contrast with commiserating with others whom I know have also just read the same chapter.)
If the pouring itself is appropriate, then I am put in mind of how using a punching bag is said to be a bad way to process anger, because of strengthening the association between discomfort and violent impulses. I am troubled if my reactions and comments become harsher and more unpleasant for others to read over time, fed by the feeling of relief I feel when I write them.
(As such, I have aimed to think seriously and thoroughly about your expressed concerns (especially imagining that likely others have felt the same and said nothing) and my own thought processes.)
Having thought about and written about my own thought processes, may I ask for your current thoughts and if you have suggestions for what my outlook should be?Low Dimensional Game · C12
Multipartite: This is my (career) field, so is a bit painful to read described here.
Aside from "I found the very first human whose parents weren't humans!" (How are you even drawing the line?):
"I made mouse-human hybrid DNA, amplified it with PCR, then made blood from it and injected it into mice! Guess what happened!?"
"Wait, mammal genomes have lots of chromosomes and billions of base pairs, PCR can only amplify up to fifty thousand base pairs in a sequence at most, how did you..? And how did you even 'make blood' from that in vitro DNA, inject two of each chromosome somehow into a progenitor cell with its DNA removed somehow? That's something we can't even do yet with cloned animals though..? No, that aside, I assume it died from a massive immune system rejection of the foreign proteins, like when you transfuse an O-minus blood type person with AB-plus blood?"
"Not just died, it immediately EXPLODED!"
"...Are you sure you didn't inject /too much/ blood? How many millilitres into one mouse are we talking about, here?"Low Dimensional Game · C12

Mainwave: hi author i really enjoyed your writting. please continue the story is trully good until now. i will wait the next chapter to enjoy it tomorrow please continue this story to the end of it.Lorian Ellins [Dropped]
Protovail: Really enjoying the novel so far and while there have been some cases that are awkward or weird, they’re not story breaking. It’s easy to tell the author has put in a lot of work for the novel and my only gripe is that there are more chapters and a more stable release. Would definitely recommend to all of those who don’t mind if a MC doesn’t become OP within a short amount of time. Keep up the good work author and I look forward to reading more.Lorian Ellins [Dropped]
