It seemed interesting, so I found it on WTR-LAB and 69shu. I alternated between the English translation on WTR-LAB and the Mandarin version. I made it to Chapter 469. The FL 'tries' not to love the ML, but goes back to him. He loves her, but he's also sending her grandpa to jail for a wrong committed against his family 2 generations ago. While grandpa's in jail, ML has arranged to have an orphanage (that the FL designed the exterior of) collapse. The orphanage was a joint project with the Communist Party, so she goes to jail for public endangerment, but she's not worried about her fate or her grandpa's because male lead was trapped under rubble when building collapsed - or was he? His parents fly him abroad for treatment while FL and grandpa are in jail. ML returns to tell her it's a set up. He set her and her grandpa up for a wrong committed against his family 2 generations ago but author never says what the crime is. The Party is investigating the building collapsed so ML has to go to jail for falsifying a crime re: orphanage collapse, lying grandpa's past and having him falsely arrested ,and lying that FL was responsible for construction flaws when all she did was draw a picture of what the outside should look like. ML named her as lead designer to land her in jail. She goes back to him because he tells her he can help her find grandpa, but grandpa is nowhere to be seen in over 100 chapters. Let's see, ML is in jail then he gets out but the family grudge from 2 generations ago had ML and grandpa hiding from the bad guys for almost a year. Thinking the ML is dead, the ML's illegitimate half-brother pops up and holds a board meeting to take control of the company. ML appears at the board meeting at the last minute, because ...clichés. Illegitimate half-brother tells the ML that he wants the FL as his woman in front of the FL and his parents. While he was missing, his dad let his evil bastard son move into the house with them because let's all make bad decisions. This idiot FL is invested in this nonsense, but I'm not. I'm out at Chapter 469. The funny thing is that in the Mandarin comment section, readers are asking what grandpa did and how the ML got his entire company to go along with naming the FL as the building designer? Author says that part isn't important. There's NO substance. Just as I relayed events, that's how the author does it. There's huge conspiracies and she writes 'There is a conspiracy.'🤣🤣 We get no details. It's just 'they were plotting' and 'even mother-in-law was in on it', but we are never told what 'it' is! The Chinese comments are lit up with irate readers, and the author replies that we shouldn't worry about the conspiracy, we should focus on the fluff. It's hard to do that when the ML throws the FL under the bus REPEATEDLY! As for snu snu, at one point she thinks she's pregnant, but it's a false pregnancy because he's in jail and she's stressed (but he's actually hiding out somewhere to throw 'them' off the conspiracy. I don't think I read a single snu more than 'he kissed her until she couldn't breathe'. If you have insomnia this passes the time, but in my opinion this would be a waste of your money/credits.

Spoiler alert . . . . . . . . . . *The original is 222 chapters. *The writing style is good, even if the events are dire. *The FL suffers because the ML is a jerk, but mostly because she is in the way of others making financial marriages with his Yang family, and these people are dangerous, murderous rich people. *The last 12 chapters have a different male lead. The author wrote this at the end: "It’s completely over here. I wrote this extra because I feel regretful. First of all, give Xie Li a chance to realize his wish and guard Meng Xiao, who has never been hurt, from a distance. Secondly, I actually wanted to write Zhao Guoying as a tough guy male protagonist, but at that time I was going through a domestic violence court divorce, and I was only desperate for relationships, so Meng Xiao and Yang Yi were also a bit more sadistic. She married him to save her brother when he comes to the rescue after she's been working 3 jobs, carrying crates of liquor as a bar back in a club he frequents, and sleeping in an ATM because the dormitories are locked so she can't get in after the bar closes. When he ghosts her, he dates the rich girls she goes to school with. He's filth. A boy who her mother saved from drowning (Xie Li), before drowning while trying to save the boy's father enters. He's married on paper. He and his wife scheme like chaebols, even having people killed. He gets her family's prestige, and he covers up the fact that she is pregnant by the son of her family's enemy. MX gets pregnant unwillingly by Yang Yi. She hides with the Xie Li, has the kid, has it left at YY's house and they go to France for 7 years. She gets an MA & a PhD before winning a major art award. Her brother is being promoted by a military leader and his life is now good. She gets a professor job offer from her university and returns to China where she gets caught up in plots to harm her to ruin YY. Meanwhile, YY is still saying he lives her while ghosting her and dating other women (but not sleeping with them). YY wants MX to beg him to be faithful, and to be obedient if he comes back home. MX doesn't care. She opens an art consulting business and begins to interact with her son. The fuerdai all shoot each other in the foot and Yang Yi is the last man standing. Xie Li gets caught. He hid all of the kickbacks and embezzled money from his wife's family and the other feuding fuerdai in their house in France so Meng Xiao wouldn't ever sleep in an ATM again.MX remarries YY because doing so would hide the fact that she suddenly has millions. She treats YY worse than he treated her. He ends up prematurely grey, and her brother beats him and leaves him w/ a lifelong limp. The alternate version is good. The ML is someone she went on a blind date with in the other version. They marry. He's great! She comes across many of the same people doing the same crimes, which her husband investigates as head of a Special Crimes Unit. Knowing what the author went through in real life explains a lot of the petty and sadistic stuff that the FL experiences. Her next book looks pretty HE.

I'm in bed with a really bad cold. I have read the latest chapters so I started reading this book. I'm on Chapter 151 of a total of 221 chapters on 69shu. I'm not sure if the book is finished. Apparently the Chinese readers have given the author a hard time because this scum still might be the ML. The FL has mentally disassociated from the jerk but he still pushes for s*x every once in a while after they marry. There's another guy from her past, but they don't have an intimate relationship. The old friend teaches her how to get the upper hand re: the scum. The scum ghosts her even when she faints on the street, gets beaten up and arrested for fighting back, and more. She has a plan to ruin him and get his money, but only because money matters more to him than she does. I'll read a bit more, but if I wasn't sick and wide awake after sleeping all day (and if the TV remote wasn't on the other side of the room), I wouldn't read this.
