Hoshino: I really like how old partnerships are being revived in this arc. Klein and Audrey once implemented a change in Backlund by having changing the policies and now they're trying to improve education. Meanwhile, Klein and Leonard are back to their old nighthawk business of solving the beyonder related crimes. Throwback to the Tingen days. How time flies.

Hoshino: The best actor deserves the best spectator that can wholeheartedly appreciate his performances.

Surely_Panda: Hrmmmm Edwina is a better detective or a spy than I thought. Then again, she is backed by the Church of Wisdom so despite looking like an school mum she can't be a soft ivory tower intellectual only. Wonder what she get out of providing those juicy tidbits.

Gehrman_Sparrow: @Translator. The translation of Arrodes's warning seems incorrect. The raw Chinese is "这条途径所有高序列的天敌,‘渎神者’阿蒙在赶来的途中。" which means "The nemesis of all high sequnece beyonders in marauder pathway, Blasphemer Amon is rushing over."

Randompasserby: Wonder if it's well and truly dead now... Rats aren't exactly known for being lightning resistant and he can't even resist Arrodes's binding 🤔

Ozwin: What a naughty little toady lol. It is funny how strong demigods are but Marauders appear to have a significantly high rate of finding themselves at a low point. I wonder if they have to give up their strength and parasite on others to regain it as part of their acting method, ritual, and/or method to maintain sanity, or if losing ones body and strength simply comes with the territory of being a thief and the beings they end up trying to rob come quite close to destroying them? Also that chapter felt far too short lol.

MondSemmel: It feels like Derrick's existence has been good for Papa Alger. He's been a cynical pirate figure with a frustrating past as an orphaned youth. So when he helps Derrick, another youth who got orphaned and struggles against his fate, this probably helps Alger in some way, as well.

reyou_leo: I think so too. Its only natural for it to be ince zangwill seeing how he used klein and dunn death to advance to demigod himself.

Lord of the Mysteries · C869

Hoshino: That's a good point! Ince Zangwill used Dunn Smith and Klein Moretti in order to advance to demigod. It's a poetic justice for Klein to make use of Ince Zangwill in order to advance to demigod in return. It's the perfect revenge!

Hoshino: "A crazy murderer and adventurer like Gehrman Sparrow definitely is a good match with a pure and innocent girl..."

Gehrman Sparrow x Audrey Hall ship has been officially approved! The World needs Justice!

MondSemmel: From a storytelling perspective, you're absolutely right. But given that Ince Zangwill seems to have been possessed by that absurdly powerful spectre, wraith or whatever from the underground ruins, shouldn't his strength be far above even a Sequence 4? In which case Klein would still be far from his match.

Tetractys: Dont forget the overarching theme of this arc: Dwayne Dantes is here for revenge. The only suitable target for Klein's advancement must be Ince Zangwell. (At least, this is what I'm theorizing.)

TomoyaNagase: Is it just me or does this Marauder Pathway demigod seem like the perfect target for Klein's advancement ritual? He doesn't have a huge organization or many allies to help him out and his power is largely reduced at the moment this sounds like a much more doable target than most other demigods!

MondSemmel: The World's fellow club members still suffer from one big misconception due to their lack of familiarity with the Faceless: they assume Gehrman Sparrow to be the base identity, that other identities still have a crazy adventurer at their core. In truth, even he is just another manufactured identity.

I hope Audrey and Fors, who have interacted with Dwayne Dantes, eventually notice this incongruity: could a truly crazy person really act like such a distinguished gentleman?

MondSemmel: A welcome development. Too many webnovel protagonists are habitual liars, wielding dishonesty as a weapon to take advantage of their gullible surroundings. Klein lies a lot, too, but he has a better grasp of the costs involved, as well as of the benefits of honesty.

This time, due to that honesty, it sounds like all Backlund Tarot Club members will be able to participate in the investigation of the Great Smog of Backlund.

grt85360: I am still waiting for the day that Klein decides to play poker. Klein deals the cards, Gerhman raises, Sherlock folds, Dwayne goes all-in, while Mr. Fool observes at the corner performing anti-divination to make the game fair.

That's Klein + 4 faceless marionettes. Considering that at sequence 5 he can control atleast 1 marionette, and every sequence advancement upgrades his powers. When he is at sequence 0, he can have atleast 6 marionettes aside from himself.

Speaking of which, am I to expect another 2 personas in the future?

Randompasserby: At this point with the direct attention of Evernight Goddess confirmed and his own personality and objective set, Klein's basically the designated lightning rod for disasters lol so Cattleya and Alger's definitely spot on 😅

MondSemmel: The diary story about Soniathrym seems out of place in this chapter. It may be random worldbuilding, but knowing this author, it's likely foreshadowing something. But what?

Maybe Soniathrym was indeed a transmigrator, just from a more primitive time or from another world. Or it's relevant that this legend about Soniathrym doesn't depict him as insane, in contrast to the original giants and dragons and other original beyonder races. Or it's relevant that ancient gods could give birth to beyonder races (which, if true, would require an explanation of how this doesn't violate the Conservation Law of Beyonder Characteristics).

Dex2: But it says this was during his early days. In chapter 264, he said that when Bernadette was born, he and his wife were just low sequence beyonders and she didn't inherit any of their characteristics. He was normal till towards the end when he became a Sequence 1 and met something that gave him great urgency to become a god.

From all evidence available, nothing seems to point towards him being controlled, especially in his early life. Later, it might have happened through mental cues by Adam when he joined the twilight hermit order. But even then, we can only guess at that as a possibility

burntpotato: I hate to think that the bonds he created in the Beyonder World cannot compare with his feelings of going home but there's a part of me that hopes Klein's endgame would be a successful return.
