Yes, he could have. Gift of healing alone makes the other 2 useless. With the 5th power he can find a way to heal. Just another author that doesnt understand the powers he chooses.

Wasting 2 powers on poison and disease while he has gift of healing... If he doesnt want to heal himself, just get a power to make yourself immune to these things. Rather than healing, i think you choose those powers to spread poison and diseases around.
