Good point, though he probably wasn’t calculated about it. I’m sure he could use luck path methods to make sure things went his way. So FY’s “lucky win” was actually Giant Sun’s luck, not his.

Haha, when I started this novel I was also a little turned off by the idea. Less for the bugs and more because I wasn’t really hyped at the thought of pokemon based cultivation. Boy was I wrong.

Everyone else is mourning the horses. I’m flinching at the impracticality of aiming for a galloping horse’s legs. Its even harder since the archers are flanking the horses. I think aiming for the eyes would be easier by far.

The stampeding horsemen never expected the sudden onslaught. Although they were wearing heavy armour that normal arrows could not penetrate, their horses were not protected so. And those arrows appeared to be aimed directly at the legs of the horses!

It’s been a while. I now think all four venerables represent the apex of the demonic and immortal paths. Just different aspects of the two paths. Star constellation represents the sect system in the righteous path. For her, reputation and duty are paramount, and she is able to weaponise them to a frightening degree. Giant Sun represents the clan system. He prioritizes loyalty and heredity. As a righteous gu master his idea of reputation is to show/receive face. He isn’t able to participate in the more complex politics that both star constellation and Fang Yuan thrive in. Spectral Soul represents the ruthlessness of the demonic path. He is likely the extreme form of what righteous gu masters/immortals imagine when they think of demonic gu masters. Crazy and bloodthirsty, liable to commit horrific attrocities without reason. Fang Yuan represents the inherent freedom of the demonic path. If he wants to show kindness, then he will do so, if he wants to kill someone, then thats what he’ll do. He cannot be blackmailed or threatened, only enticed. He cares about no one but himself, his iron will lets him laugh through any torture you might put him through and if he must ever face his death he will do so without flinching, proud to have lived the life he wanted. As a Venerable, he is unbound by reputation, honor, strength and even fate.

That was how I was defining newly ascended venerable. Venerable invincibility is well established for venerables that have had the chance to refine dao marks (I could say more, but spoilers). Good point about Limitless’s formation though, I had forgotten about that. I would say though that we can probably counterbalance that by Star Constellations and Giant Sun’s millenia of experience at the Venerable realm and after death. They were probably way stronger than a typical new venerable.

If you don’t revert, someone could still kill you and you would be less likely to see it coming. As for cultivation, just set a new savepoint everytime you have a breakthrough (naturally you’d have the difficulty of raising the rank of the killer move first, there is no easy path to immortality). Once you raise the killer move to rank 9, you have no more worries. At that point i think attainment and lifespan will matter more than cultivation (assuming the true goal is rank 10). Reverting will allow you to keep your attainment and restore your lifespan to its original level.

Actually makes sense. At that point in time his luck was abysmal as he had only just learned about the downside of the spring autumn cicada and he had no attainment in luck path yet nor did he have luck gu. Yet he just happened to unite with Wisdom gu at the crucial moment and also managed to beat Giant Sun’s will as a newly advanced immortal zombie. Surviving that fight involved skill on his part, but it also involved a lot of apparent luck. Now it makes sense that much of it was the secret cooperation of Giant Sun and his will.

Wait thats weird. I thought immortal apertures experience tribulations every 10 years calculated by the time inside the aperture. Speeding up time in the aperture too much will be a problem for gu immortals who spend most of their time outside the aperture, but for gu immortals who never leave the aperture it shouldn’t make any difference right?
