Lumierre: The line mentioning the lineup for the team competition is missing. The ones in the team competition though are: YX, TR, BR, QY, WC and SZ.

Icaimas: "We won’t be able to wipe out Mysterious Fantasy with just eight points."
You see that "we" Mo Fan used to adress them? He included himself with them! I´m so happy right now!
Our lone wolf fond himself a pack! XD T-T

vystander: This punk...hehehehehe. Ye Xiu being the shameless and awesome god that the glory ceo even calls him that. In a commercial perspective, it was not really a good thing for ye xiu to not be cooperating, but whether it is right or wrong is not what matters. For everyone of us who have read up to this chapter, it is quite obvious that this is one of those major aspect that led to his downfall which he is quite aware of. The main character is not invincible by any means (both in the game and in real life) and that's what makes the story more interesting. This cumulative details grounded in reality introduced throughout the story by the author always strike me with a very deep impression. Cheers and thanks for the chapters!

I thought the Challenger matches were on a Friday? Isn't that why Ye Xiu wanted the equipment the day before so he could familiarise the team with it. View More

dansen: Really nice insight. Thankfully a lot of his future teammates share the same mentality. Though someone like Tang Rou is really eye catching, and she does seem dangerously similar to Sun Xiang in mentality sometimes, but Tang Rou can take defeats better and she's a quick learner, so I'm sure she'd learn to be a good team player in time. Mucheng, Yifan, don't need to be mentioned. While Steamed Bun is going to be the loyal dork Steamed Bun forever 😂

AppleSlices: The part where Ye Xiu replies yes to Chen Guo's question about whether he and the CEO (who now only cares about profit) were once friends just made me feel really sad but idrk why :(

CreamPuffDelights: It's less of a plot hole that a weird translation quirk. In the raws, the word used translates literally to "cannot work". In context, it basically means that the item either cannot be transferred, or cannot be used, which implies that while you CAN bring it back, it basically just becomes a piece of trash decorating your inventory for you to wear and show off to other people until you go back to the Heavenly Domains.

ufutable: Actually Sun Xiang on the team does make it better at least they only have 1 kid not listening to the captains calls... With Ye Qui on the team all the 4 members won't follow his shot calling... And SX is not that bad he's just too hot tempered considering how he practiced hard just to show YQ that he can do it the dragon thingy too

The King's Avatar · C500

dansen: But they didn't, and they won't--or rather, Ye Xiu won't. It's over for them. Unless they somehow managed to rope in another expert, they can't. Remember, YX was not only the strongest player there, he was also the shotcaller. The role now fell into LH, but you saw how bad he was--he's easily carried away, had too much of a pride, and he's not straightforward enough to even rein SX in, let alone provide strategy for the team. They're still an elite team ofc, but compared to the other elite team? They'll get wiped, definitely. So yeah it's over for them unless something changes.

The King's Avatar · C500

dansen: Yeah, it's definitely too much to expect Sun Xiang to hold the team up, he's young and inexperienced. He's also a big problem though, since he's an ace player who can't coordinate with his team. But the team should've find some way to integrate him better, and he definitely shouldn't have been made captain, it should've been someone more experienced. I think it should've been Mucheng, but she wants nothing to do with them now...

Quicksilver80: Eehh, I may not like Sun Xiang's attitude, but don't blame him on how messed up the team has become... The team had been going down hill longer than Sun's even been a pro... I mean, the blame lies almost solely on Liu Hao and Two Xuan... and Chen Yehui... they are the ones who sabotaged the team to force YX to retire and have been working for years towards this end... Sun just kinda got brought in to take the fall if the team continued to fail... and I get the feeling that YX knows and knew for a while now what Tao and Liu were doing...

The King's Avatar · C500

dansen: I think he's sad mainly because the team can't hold itself together. Sun Xiang isn't suited to be a captain even if he has his head screwed on right anyway, but Liu Hao and the other members... No one is stepping up to be the pillar that hold the team up. No glue to bind them together. I'd be sad too, this was his team after all.

RDyre: He was sad for the team he built since the beginning of pro-alliance, all the dedication and efforts he wasted for that team will be crumbling down because of those arrogant players who aren't as passionate as him in terms of playing glory

Blood_Rain: It was about the money for the owner. Ye Qiu was like a gold mountain they could not mine. I believe this analogy was used somewhere in the novel.
As for Liu Hao & Chen YeHui it was more jealously & dissatisfaction at being shown their limits.
All this has been shown in the novel.

Also Sun Xiang is a very skilled & talented young player who's only problem is his attitude/personality, which they probably didn't realise or hoped would improve as he matured.
This attitude problem is a necessary balancing act imo as, if SX had the same attitude as Yifan or Yingjie his growth would be terrifying 😅

The King's Avatar · C495

Chrysline: Agreed there. Tang Rou having this kind of mentality and growth is enough to make some commenters and readers rage in disbelief. (I like her though, I know her attitude is what’s leading to her growth).

If Sun Xiang had this teachable attitude too, it’s exactly as you say. Plus we wouldn’t have as much schadenfreude at Liu Hao’s just desserts. 🙈😈

JimmieHammel: I like it most when Ye Xiu is bullying the bullies. The big guilds bully regular players, player guilds, weaker club guilds, and even each other.

Golden Fragrance is also a bully, just a slightly different kind. She uses her 'girl status' to get rewards she hasn't earned fairly. And she even used it to get stronger players to bully Chen Guo when they had an argument. Girls like that give other female players a bad reputation.

However, Deception is also a bully. His bullying is colder, less personal, and mostly financially driven. He uses his incredible skill to take other player's possessions. Compare that to Ye Xiu who uses his strength to help others, like Tang Rou, Steamed Bun, or even that girl Immersed Jade from the beginning of the story. Deception is similar to Thousand Creations and Poplar Beach in that way.

But from the limited conversations we've had with him, it also seems like Huang Shaotian has a lot in common with these types of players as well.

I think there's more than one motivation for Ye Xiu right now. He's trying to make a connection with Deception, to show him another way to play the game and show his strength that is more fun than being a thief and a bully. He has similar conversations with Thousand Creations in a previous story arc when he was killing everyone in the Thousand Lakes leveling area.

He's also trying to show all the guilds that he is too strong and too well protected for them to mess with, even at level 52, so they should all give up and back off.

He's embarrassing the girl who hurt his friend and taking a little revenge on Chen Yehui in the process.

He's also getting a break from the endless drudgery of grinding monsters to level. ;)

---

Most importantly though, the Deception story arc is the first place in this series where we see a well defined beginning, middle, and end.

When I first started reading this series, I could not understand why I liked it so much... Is there anything more boring than watching someone else play a video game? And more so, there didn't seem to be any kind of story structure at all. The MC just seemed to wander around. Plot points were dropped. Characters who seemed important just suddenly disappeared. So why was it so compelling? Why couldn't I stop reading it? Why was I skipping sleep for days at a time binge reading?

But then I started to see the story structure improve... The first sign was the All-Star weekend story arc.

The All-Star weekend was structured but it felt a bit accidental. The Christmas Event almost had structure, but it was too short. The Thousand Lakes story arc was the first place where it seemed like structure was being developed intentionally, but the ending of the arc resolved quickly with no discernable climax. The beginning of that arc was far more exciting than the ending...

But the Deception story arc begins slowly, introduces a new character, very quickly establishes his personality and motivations, and then sends Ye Xiu and Deception through a series of exciting encounters, gradually building the excitement as we see Deception go from wanting to get away to wanting keep playing with Ye Xiu, and then BAM, it hits you with a phenomenal climactic moment that will go on to influence the events of the next 500 chapters.

That's not to say that the story doesn't go on from here without more meandering. There's plenty more meandering to come. But this arc was what gave me hope that the author would go back and pick up the threads that they had dropped earlier in the story... Like poor Steamed Bun, Sleeping Moon and his friends, and Blue River...

XeanLux: *sigh* I'm annoyed by this Golden Fragrance. 1) she's a spoiled brat. 2) she's very ignorant. 3) she's manipulating men without real skill to back it up.
As a fellow female, I am ashamed of her.

XeanLux: There is a contradiction, but it's not because the author said that it could be bound, whether that is true or not, the contradiction here lies on the reason why Chen Guo did not bind her cannon. I remember the author once narrated that Chen Guo did not bind her cannon because she was hoping to sell it when she finds a better weapon.

The King's Avatar · C468

max2payne: The author talked about binding, and this was the first time it mentioned you can't do this in the heavenly domain. But when Chen Guo and Ye Xiu asked each other if they had bound, they said it was too late. Either binding is only possible up to a certain level, or it's restricted to equipment from normal servers. I don't see this problem others are talking about, this author just gives things in bits and pieces, so you can start something in one chapter and won't see the big picture several or dozens of chapters later.

Chrysline: It’s more like being guild leader of a large guild is the most troublesome and time consuming job there is in any MMO. I did it for fun and not money before and I couldn’t last. I still need a source of income, but the time a guild leader needs to invest (if not paid a salary to do it) makes another real life job impractical.

The friends I know that do it are students (who focus exclusively on the game) or those whose jobs involve doing nothing but wait for something to happen during a night shift (like Ye Qiu does).

Given that a level 12 guild has 1,200 people, how many people would a level 100 guild have? Chen Guo mentioned 10,000 people. 10,000 people is bigger than many SMEs. Add to that the competitive pressures of managing a Club’s official guild. They need the best managers they can find, and good managers can command a good salary anywhere they go.

Agreed that the majority of players play for fun. At the same time, for something like leading and managing a guild... fun helps, however what they really need is someone who would take responsibility and can dedicate their working hours and life to the guild. What better way to enforce and encourage that than a contract and a salary?
