how does the MC's system actually work again? is it mainly just a visual measurement of his skills as well as the occasional perk or ability he gets by completing certain tasks?

not sure what you mean by pure tech stuff. Floating cities as well as basically all of the empire's stuff is a combination of Technology and Magic. Edward already got extremely advanced technology from Rick, The AI race from Naruto, and the Savant race. I might be remembering wrong but in the Halo and mass effect universes almost everything is technology. the only exceptions I can think of are Mass Effect's Element Zero (Probably the most useful thing he could get) and Halo's domain or maybe the Flood (Ancient Forerunner/Precursor stuff). That's not to say there's nothing useful in those universes, it's just that any trip there would be a stomp and is probably not going to be more than a chapter or two.

Pretty sure they had warships before he built the first flying city but they're for different purposes. flying cities are essentially a combination of self sufficient fortress, laboratories, magic towers, and headquarters for powerful Arcanists. Warships are used by their navy but are generally limited to his home universe and are mass produced. halo and mass effect do have some interesting technology, but 90% of it is less advanced than what Edward already has. the only knowledge that would have a decent chance to be useful would be Forerunner, Precursor, and Ancient Human technology and even those are pretty iffy. you have to remember that Edward is basically beyond galaxy level for technology and while I'd love to see him visit those universes they are both limited to galaxy level at most.

10s of meters tall is still plausible in a world with monsters on the surface. Especially because people with falna are superhuman and would be able to scale a normal size wall easily.The wall of Framlingham Castle in England was just over 10 meters high, I could definitely picture walls being double that height to defend and lower level people in case of war in a world like danmachi.

The construction style of the city wall itself was similar to that of the Middle Ages. It was entirely made of stone bricks. According to preliminary estimates, it was at least tens of meters high. Standing below it, you can completely feel your own insignificance.

More and more questions seemed to fill my mind however I couldn't contain my curiosity looking at the notes that were underneath the wand. Grabbing the notes I read through them. One seemed to be a collection of different notes about magic spells, ancient spells that I couldn't even identify. The main part that intrigued me the most was the part labelled 'Emry's Ritual'. The other note was a message that seemed to be purposely made for me, Merlin's descendant.
