A simple man, lacking in knowledge, but quick of wit. He is flung into the future, where everything is different. Now, he has to make a name for himself, carve his own path in life. He decides to play a game, the biggest one in the world. A strategy game, focused on tactics, used to select the top managers of the largest international corporation. Now, he has to prove his mettle and earn a place for himself in the future... Watch as he enters the competition, chooses his class, creates an army, and shows everyone in this new, future world the spirit of a player from the 2010s. Will he be the champion in the end?
Dan’s first tournament may have ended, but life goes on. His luck is still with him in his regular life as well, and it seems to be endless. However, he is surrounded by very smart people, and surely one of them is going to start doubting his talents, at least a bit? Especially now, with a new game about to start. The latest foes are even more dangerous than the last and the rules are still unfamiliar to him. Dan wonders how reasonable the rules are in the first place. Is it really possible to take a competition that lasts a couple of hours at most seriously? A competition in which you are supposed to work together with simple monsters in order to destroy the enemy base? And so, the story of an ordinary Russian guy who suddenly found himself in the future continues, and another battle between his luck and the rest of the world is about to start. Who will come out on top?
They lied, they lie, they will lie. This world is built on deception. Vasily entered the store that fateful evening and became involved in a life-or-death game arranged by a mysterious creature. He survived, but instead of on Earth, he now appeared to be in a different world, with other people who had passed a similarly deadly test. Some made it by using force, some by using their cunning… Everyone has their own story, but they all have one thing in common — there are no good people among them. The world of Karik turned out to be like a game. In it, one can level up, grow stronger, even resurrect in case of failure. But if one makes a mistake of believing the wrong person, they will die for real. Will the magic that Vasily needs to conceal, or maybe his patron, who seems incapable of telling the truth, help him? Who can say?
The world has been saved; life is beautiful and everyone loves and appreciates the hero, even though they put him in some godforsaken place. To keep him safe, or so they say... But it's too boring there! Only at first glance, however, because entertainment can be found anywhere and the street phase of the world tournament, Battle of the Champions, is just the right thing to pass the time, especially if some divine gifts are taken into consideration, which, regardless of his unique strategic and tactical talent, seriously complicate his life. This is a new challenge for an ordinary guy from the year 2010 who has found himself in the world of the future... Will he still be the champion?
AzureWolf: Thank you for the chapters! This story is one of my favorites. Really looking towards how his followers will grow.World of Karik: A Game of Villains · C26
Bibliophileaddict: I figured that even when you get above level 5 (the cut off line of “independence” and basically when your patron can overtly influence you), you will unconsciously be influenced by your patron. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that the level of your mark (everyone seems to have a mark and such like how MC started out with deception and raised it with lies) determines it. Point is there is a “bleed” effect (like water colors on a canvas mixing) between patron and protégée (couldn’t think of a better term), should be one way as the patron is superior and doesn’t really get power like levels and marks (or it is so small an influence on a patron it is negligible and this could tie into the strength of a faction and how many they can support).
MCs effect is he is showing more and more signs of a pathological liar 🤥 (lying even when he doesn’t need too and him thinking “what is up with me today like hiding the obvious?” is a sign). The “bleed” effect could be considered a good thing as it can help one blend into their faction and master their abilities (MC lying and how good they are has a direct impact on his deception’s advancement) but the obvious downside is it changes your personality and way of thought in a way (for good or worse, point is that it is an external influence changing you, unconsciously or not; perhaps that might be part of the reason a Reaper may lack a patron, from them killing them, as they didn’t want to be under anyone). Plus it could shoot yourself in the foot like MC not keeping track of his lies, telling a bad one and such.

Bibliophileaddict: I believe the “troublemaker” is that girl who has been MIA since the initial revolt against Max and has kept their tombstone in the base since then. We find out the details (at least why she disappeared and such; hint: David/Baldy is a better manipulator than he seems) in the extra chapters in the book (it is $3.99 on Amazon for the e-book and you can even read it on your phone by getting the Kindle app; I didn’t even know Kindle had an app until recently).
So that part about the “great trinity” seems to be in relation to the three most prominent factions/forces in a unit (in this case being Abyss, Chaos and Deception disguised as Light/Fire represented by Petrovitch, Innokenty and everyone’s favorite pathological liar MC in the making Vasily/“Cat”). I was initially confused as I thought it was talking about the major factions of the deities/patrons, and Abyss, Darkness, and Chaos should be among the most prominent; but it wouldn’t make sense for the other ones to let such a favorable rule to them be (and other inconsistencies with prior knowledge as this rule would make other factions screwed with expanding as they are small but not not nonexistent). So I thought and realized that it meant the three most prominent factions that resulted in the Battle Royale (perhaps if there is a tie, like if A has two votes, B has two votes, and C and D have 4, it seems like A and B would have to fight until the dominant one can take a spot in the “trinity”).
In any case, this means that MC is able to recruit others to be his follower (while giving them some benefits from his skill list) and have their attributes be permanently increased from ditching their patron. It’s important to note that this is a personal decision and as such while it seems most choose to go for an umbrella with the benefits of increased attributes (and the main disadvantage seems to be not being able to level up initial skills, it isn’t too bad as they may not have anything useful enough to warrant staying), it is fine to keep to yourself with your own patron. The downside is you are pretty much alone with little to no voting power and thus you are likely to die if a sacrifice is needed. So with the cost benefit analysis, most end up choosing to ally with one of the three biggest unit factions.World of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0

HalonFox1: Ok wow i feel like i should have been able to put that together so thank you for your patience but he's was only a man a powerful man but a man none the less no i felt no mention of being godly or otherworldly from his description which is contrary to how the main character was transported ill will coincide that abbadons name is definitely a fake because there doesn't seem to be a need for prayer or worship towards one patron nor any need for identification lest the gods something from have these fellows slay level garbage monsters and the likeWorld of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0
epion: Protect the orb! By running away after showing the enemy where it is! Genius....World of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0
Bibliophileaddict: Well we can’t rule out that Nomenos is still around. After all, the immortal patrons survived the Abyss, and we have no idea what they are or how they came to be. For all we know anyone can become one with enough time. And even if he isn’t a patron (and if he is one he is probably “Abaddon” but that is my theory), depending on when this “system” with stats and such cane to be, it isn’t impossible for him to be around. After all, the scary badass old man who is hanging around that hidden monolith is still alive and kicking even though he should be dead if he lived so long so “lifespan” in this world is possibly endless assuming you aren’t killed, cursed, or what have you.
Of course we can’t say for certain that Nomenos isn’t dead either, but I think it would be more interesting for the “world ender” to still be around with his own plans (especially since such an ambitious and competent, even considering he accidentally messed up the world he still made an empire with his own hands and was doing fine until that point, guy would be very interesting).World of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0

Bibliophileaddict: Well this question is basically biased on whether the asker “likes” or has a use for you (it isn’t like the trolley problem or whatever). Basically as long as it even barely fits, as long as Dorea gives the ok, then it is fine (her word is law).
We know Vlada is one and Igor assuming there isn’t someone we haven’t been introduced to arrives. The “apprentice of the Reaper” is either Hunger’s or Polina’s as only those two operate in this area (we would at least know the names of the others if they were nearby).
As for the Chaosites, I am uncertain what that even entails, but if I were to guess it is either what those who follow a certain heavenly patron or a classification of patrons (like one category could be called chaos gods and another could be order and so on; but I doubt Chaos has any relations to the Abyss and the Abyss is probably its own thing), or ones who follow a certain “code” or group.
But in terms of “danger” (not necessarily combat power, but more of the consequences of MC failing) I believe the Abyss is 1st, the Reaper’s follower second and the Chaosites are hard to judge as we know so little but they are tentatively 3rd if for no other reason than the fact they are novices and Dorea felt the need to describe them with that.World of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0
