A simple man, lacking in knowledge, but quick of wit. He is flung into the future, where everything is different. Now, he has to make a name for himself, carve his own path in life. He decides to play a game, the biggest one in the world. A strategy game, focused on tactics, used to select the top managers of the largest international corporation. Now, he has to prove his mettle and earn a place for himself in the future... Watch as he enters the competition, chooses his class, creates an army, and shows everyone in this new, future world the spirit of a player from the 2010s. Will he be the champion in the end?
Dan’s first tournament may have ended, but life goes on. His luck is still with him in his regular life as well, and it seems to be endless. However, he is surrounded by very smart people, and surely one of them is going to start doubting his talents, at least a bit? Especially now, with a new game about to start. The latest foes are even more dangerous than the last and the rules are still unfamiliar to him. Dan wonders how reasonable the rules are in the first place. Is it really possible to take a competition that lasts a couple of hours at most seriously? A competition in which you are supposed to work together with simple monsters in order to destroy the enemy base? And so, the story of an ordinary Russian guy who suddenly found himself in the future continues, and another battle between his luck and the rest of the world is about to start. Who will come out on top?
They lied, they lie, they will lie. This world is built on deception. Vasily entered the store that fateful evening and became involved in a life-or-death game arranged by a mysterious creature. He survived, but instead of on Earth, he now appeared to be in a different world, with other people who had passed a similarly deadly test. Some made it by using force, some by using their cunning… Everyone has their own story, but they all have one thing in common — there are no good people among them. The world of Karik turned out to be like a game. In it, one can level up, grow stronger, even resurrect in case of failure. But if one makes a mistake of believing the wrong person, they will die for real. Will the magic that Vasily needs to conceal, or maybe his patron, who seems incapable of telling the truth, help him? Who can say?
The world has been saved; life is beautiful and everyone loves and appreciates the hero, even though they put him in some godforsaken place. To keep him safe, or so they say... But it's too boring there! Only at first glance, however, because entertainment can be found anywhere and the street phase of the world tournament, Battle of the Champions, is just the right thing to pass the time, especially if some divine gifts are taken into consideration, which, regardless of his unique strategic and tactical talent, seriously complicate his life. This is a new challenge for an ordinary guy from the year 2010 who has found himself in the world of the future... Will he still be the champion?
Bibliophileaddict: So I guess one can say light are masochists and dark are sadists?
Chaos are pillage happy murder machines and abyss (I’m honestly having a hard time distinguishing them from dark due to lacking info on them and their practices) but I guess they overwhelm with raw power in a hierarchy whereas dark corrupts gradually. The distinction I guess is that abyss isn’t one for “playing” much and gets straight to the point and won’t waste time manipulating you if you don’t listen (like Baldy was overwhelmed by a shadow creature, this is in the full story on amazon, and took a deal to get his soul back and get power and it was telling the truth about the power so there is a decent shot it also controlled his soul at that point in time). Dark will do various tortures and intrigues and is more persistent I guess (just a theory based on limited info).World of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0
Bibliophileaddict: The influence of the patrons is both a bless and a curse. A blessing as you can work hard to increase attributes with effort. But it is a curse as they can subtly manipulate you into thinking an idea is yours (like how MC “forgot” that arcobaleno shows a person what they expect to see and thus is subjective to each unless their expectations are unified but that would be rare) or directly manipulate you like how MC just “blacked out” and went beast mode to finish raising his attributes (he still needs to get those endurance points back from the merchants which should be easy by giving a made gear and claiming he got it from a monster).
The only good news about control is that the patrons won’t discard you if they can help it (especially a small faction like Abaddons would treasure those with potential like MC) and it could even benefits you. The downside is that you place yourself in their palm and have to deal with the consequences you do under their influence thus raising stats would be best done far away from others to avoid complications.World of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0
LittleMe: Highly recommend it. Great story about star wars, time travellers and energy techniques.
Looking forward to more interesting chapters. Keep it up, author! The Last Time Loop: Max of the Rebellion

QuiAnton: For the last few years I have developed specific tastes, you know like a craving for a specific type of book. I even have been told I can be overly critical. But who cares if I prefer mature characters that make sound decisions based on their characters and experience; I'm always looking for a book with an intricately woven plot.
This story gave me all these things and more, with all its coming star wars and time travelling. I read it straight through. And I can not wait for the next chapters and look forward to a well written, well paced, and well told story as good if not better than what has already has been published.
Despite only being 16 chapters long as of writing, there's plenty to get you almost instantly hooked, so go read it.The Last Time Loop: Max of the Rebellion

HalonFox1: Nice conjecture and observations definitely gave a memory feel and but that does beg the question why would 2 god like beings play with vasilyWorld of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0
Bibliophileaddict: Coincidence I believe. After all, patrons will have their own preferences for their chosen and “glasses suitcase guy” seemed preferential to Vic (he was mostly addressing Vic and Vasily wasn’t the favored to win). On the other hand, “Abaddon” (old-fashioned jacket guy) as a deceiver would certainly prefer MC who instinctively lies if suddenly asked a question.
Abaddon did also say that he isn’t much liked by “his colleagues” though he “doesn’t know why.” So it isn’t weird for it to be a coincidence that Vasily was involved and Abaddon didn’t know at all (and if Abaddon did somehow know, likely with spying or something since he doesn’t really have much in the way of friends, then it is fine as Vasily wasn’t chosen by glasses and he could do better with Abaddon; a failure by one judgement standard could be a genius by another like an elephant failing to climb a tree but succeeding to trample a small animal).World of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0

Bibliophileaddict: I figured that even when you get above level 5 (the cut off line of “independence” and basically when your patron can overtly influence you), you will unconsciously be influenced by your patron. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that the level of your mark (everyone seems to have a mark and such like how MC started out with deception and raised it with lies) determines it. Point is there is a “bleed” effect (like water colors on a canvas mixing) between patron and protégée (couldn’t think of a better term), should be one way as the patron is superior and doesn’t really get power like levels and marks (or it is so small an influence on a patron it is negligible and this could tie into the strength of a faction and how many they can support).
MCs effect is he is showing more and more signs of a pathological liar 🤥 (lying even when he doesn’t need too and him thinking “what is up with me today like hiding the obvious?” is a sign). The “bleed” effect could be considered a good thing as it can help one blend into their faction and master their abilities (MC lying and how good they are has a direct impact on his deception’s advancement) but the obvious downside is it changes your personality and way of thought in a way (for good or worse, point is that it is an external influence changing you, unconsciously or not; perhaps that might be part of the reason a Reaper may lack a patron, from them killing them, as they didn’t want to be under anyone). Plus it could shoot yourself in the foot like MC not keeping track of his lies, telling a bad one and such.

Bibliophileaddict: I believe the “troublemaker” is that girl who has been MIA since the initial revolt against Max and has kept their tombstone in the base since then. We find out the details (at least why she disappeared and such; hint: David/Baldy is a better manipulator than he seems) in the extra chapters in the book (it is $3.99 on Amazon for the e-book and you can even read it on your phone by getting the Kindle app; I didn’t even know Kindle had an app until recently).
So that part about the “great trinity” seems to be in relation to the three most prominent factions/forces in a unit (in this case being Abyss, Chaos and Deception disguised as Light/Fire represented by Petrovitch, Innokenty and everyone’s favorite pathological liar MC in the making Vasily/“Cat”). I was initially confused as I thought it was talking about the major factions of the deities/patrons, and Abyss, Darkness, and Chaos should be among the most prominent; but it wouldn’t make sense for the other ones to let such a favorable rule to them be (and other inconsistencies with prior knowledge as this rule would make other factions screwed with expanding as they are small but not not nonexistent). So I thought and realized that it meant the three most prominent factions that resulted in the Battle Royale (perhaps if there is a tie, like if A has two votes, B has two votes, and C and D have 4, it seems like A and B would have to fight until the dominant one can take a spot in the “trinity”).
In any case, this means that MC is able to recruit others to be his follower (while giving them some benefits from his skill list) and have their attributes be permanently increased from ditching their patron. It’s important to note that this is a personal decision and as such while it seems most choose to go for an umbrella with the benefits of increased attributes (and the main disadvantage seems to be not being able to level up initial skills, it isn’t too bad as they may not have anything useful enough to warrant staying), it is fine to keep to yourself with your own patron. The downside is you are pretty much alone with little to no voting power and thus you are likely to die if a sacrifice is needed. So with the cost benefit analysis, most end up choosing to ally with one of the three biggest unit factions.World of Karik: A Game of Villains · C0
