I think the most apt way to describe this novel is that the author want to teach us about history of science in fantasy setting and the struggle of publishing paper in reputed journal --> this resonates with me a lot. I read this after I have completed the Lord of the Mysteries (LOM) so I can say that I definitely sensed the author growth in weaving the storyline, in which the LOM is more sophisticated and meticulous in its plot description compared to TMA. But, TMA is still great though. Regarding my feeling when reading TMA, I definitely happy to read the science/arcana explained in the story, although some basics science stuff feels to be glossed over. I mean... those arcanist supposedly know how to approximate the planet circumference, which means that they should be able to answer whether the two ocean is connected or not. And many other... But I am not gping to nitpick more about it. After all LOM is amazing. Regarding the plot, the story was great although not as amazing LOM. But TMA works on the foundational world building is really solid, only the lack of world map was the negative. Another negative was the wrap up though...I understand that the foundation was difficult to wrap around, but I believe the arcana reasoning can be more flashed out. The finale reminded me of how the Li Qiye beat the crap out of the villain with difficult to understand mumbo jumbo that seemingly coherent but the detail was unknown.. Overall, this story is definitely way better than a lot of stroy here in webnovel. Definitely recommended for anyone who like science.
