Not being a racist here...But if the story background happened to be in China...than making a Japanese style ryokan would be a very bad move for the FL for these reasons: 1. Her teacher and Mr. Feng would hate the idea (older generation of chinese have those deep ingrained hate fo japanese and all japanese things. And if they don't hate japanese than it would mean they're traitor to their country) 2. Long Hui has military background...for those in military they would dislike the kind of female with that kind of ideas (unpatriotic ideas) 3. If she's a savvy businesses woman, if she wants to build a hot springs hotel, it would be better to build it in Chinese style (they do have them, not only japanese has onsen....) or even other styles. People who likes to go to hot springs are mostly older people or families (with their elders), younger generations (who are more tolerant) are merely a small percentage of the customers attracted to that kind of hotel. So as pointed in #1 is kind of weird to have her thinking of making an Onsen in China... As the author seems to be from US I guess is kind of understandable to have this kind of view, especially if they read a lot of Japanese story before (the first few chapters the name of FL is in Japanese flavor). I have read many novels (japanese, korean and Chinese), and I love the diversity of the background story and the feelings of each author. Somehow when taking a certain background story and mixing it with an incompatible small details like this really make the reading experience less enjoyable. To make a story more believable, an author should be able to immersed themselves to the culture of the story background (When in Rome do as the romans). And this is my review of this story...I hope the author won't be mad at me....😅
