I did see it! I can understand your point of view, as the power to give any effect can spoil things for the reader. However, it comes at a great cost of Fate Points, which Nikolai needs to increase his stats and do other things. That's why it became a trade-off. He either uses his fate points to survive the current situation, or he can use them to increase his stats! This way, momentary salvation can be achieved, but at the cost of long-term and steady growth, which Nikolai knows isn't the wisest choice. :) He would only use the bow at rare occasions. Skills are different because they don't exactly need you to spend a fate-changing power to use. It has been mentioned that there are potions, enchanted items, and other things that can also achieve a similar effect to skills, but they also come at a great cost. In my opinion, although the bow can be seen as a cheat, it isn't something that would make one powerful because each usage would consume a lot of his Fate Points. Thank you a lot for reading, and a lot more for offering such sincere feedback. I'll also learn from this to deliver better quality stories. :)
