honestly i kind of don't like this as much as the last one while yes this is kind of more grounded and believable i feel like the other one is more enjoyable to read, it didn't treat the world of one piece as this gloomy world all the time, while there are times that, that is the case most of the time i feel like when im reading that one, it feel like it has more character, more of everything that makes it great. while i feel like this new one just focuses only on the gloomier aspects of the old one not only that, but when im reading the old one i personaly want to continue reading and wondering what will happen next even after reading it like ten times already, while this one i don't feel that enjoyment and every chapter i progress i just feel like this isn't worth reading and my brains trying to fall asleap, 5 times i tried progressing past 20 chapters and every time i read two chapters and i done i feel bored, this one isnt enjoyable to read the character, the beauty and the character interactions of the old book. compared to this one feels like heaven and earth, this one has almost to none of that. lets take Shakuyaku's character for instance, in the old one Damien kind got to know her for a couple of chapters and thier relationship kind of develop naturally in this one from reading till sabaody i feel like thier relationship is kind of forced and cringing at times. and lastly in the old one even if i know they are gonna be enemies in the future the rocks crew still has that camaraderie the you can feel while reading even the first 30 chapters in this it feels kind of muted, too much gloomy theme, too realistic, too forced to feel natural.

I tried, I really tried reading this. I even caught up to the latest chapter. it's just that I feel like this is just too real, i mean this is a breath of fresh air to the op fanfics out there but, I read fanfic for the story and the way they gave me an escape from the reality of how shitty the real world is. this is just not for me. and for those whom are interested in reading this, if you are the type of reader that just enjoy a story for what it is, then this is for you, but for those like me, then this is not for you I can accept a weak mc, but a weak mc that's also dumb, i get that you don't want to have op characters man but at least make him slightly above average and perform better too much angst, too much realism that i get reminded of how shitty the world is. too slow of progress, i get the slow progress but slow progress to the point that it's boring and i feel like as a character he is going no where, with the only character development is more angst and trauma. the mc is too weak will I mean by the latest chapter he had been in the Shinobi world for some time, i feel like he should have grown in terms of mentality, but no he is still weak willed, he may have grown a little bit but, it's too slow.
