If MC acted the way EvilLoynis commented a couple paragraphs ago, I don't think it would be weird even if he said something along the lines of “But I want a Blacksmith variant class”. It might be weird if human developers existed (I assume they don't) and MC wasn't coded in. But it wouldn't be if they did but they created a world and let it evolve by itself. If the game is actually a real world and the VR platform ported only your consciousness, by the time someone (very possibly VIP NPC) found out “Wait, he knows things he shouldn't” and Divinities existed, he could use a Divine Message excuse if he's really freaking cornered. Only if the game is actually a Human invention and they track down the possible anomaly that is the MC, only then would I (personally) accept the near total obliviousness he presents and even then, he doesn't show an excuse to know of the Elixir and the ingredients necessary. Maybe if the devs think of him as a hacker? How does he survive being banned/deleted then? No one has the authorization? Why? The headaches that would cause to actually human devs. Sorry if I'm being nitpicky, but given that he survived who knows how long after the merging (because there's an IRL/IG merging if I remember correctly, right?) that's something that I think should be justified. If human devs: how do I excuse my knowledge? If not: why shouldn't an NPC know of SOME basics? Namely: Combat and Crafting classes exist, they've got variants(unless that's a secret), crafting has Tech Trees (or was the Tech Tree a general Rank 1 thing?), etc. I imagine that even just lying that he is from a city could mean that he might have found out all of that one way or another, given the amount of people that could live in one there are bound to be some variants. It could even excuse him knowing the Basic Elixir recipe, he either eavesdropped or overheard a careless alchemist, was found out, ran away. Unless knowing the ingredients needed it's not that big a deal given that there might be a reward in a possible Adeventurer's Guild, if it exists. Also, very late, but given that you can get Skills throught correct (I assume) repetitive movement, wouldn't it be common for NPCs to have some of those? If so, why would MC, when he unlocked Spear Mastery, think himself superior to the guards for knowing that? Unless Villages, and by consequence Village Guards, are too low on the hierarchy to be taught weapon mastery skills correctly. And even then, Guard Leader Damian comes across as the type of Peak Rank 1 that would know and teach some weapon (at least broadsword) mastery level 1. Also also, I like the existence of the Elixirs as something that organizations/clans would give talents/deathsworn to get higher rarity classes. I just think it's neat. Lastly, I am anxious to see following versions of the game, after all if a Skill is too powerful you don't need to artificially nerf it by making it irrelevantor the MC forgetful, you can actually nerf its stats later in the story. Or maybe there's a cheap, actually trash, early game Skill that he can get that becomes OP for a time then simply decent but still important/useful for late/end game. I've been itching to read some gamelit where the system is actually modified by the versions. So far I've only read Slaughter System (early 2010s english original story dropped by author at around 25 chaps) and RoyalRoad's Monroe and MAYBE Might as Well. A pity about Slaughter System, I really liked it and the MC was actually (basically) directly nerfed or maybe the monsters got buffed, can't remember well.

The asking himself IS too much but author had MC think that he's going to have to do some things to keep up the appearance of a newbie blacksmith so asking Tristan isn't that bad, it is a Rare Level 15 Item which might have implications we don't know about yet. WARNING: Rant and theorycrafting with no TL;DR below: I am, however, bothered by him not showing the Elixirs to the guards, he did tell them that he would. Even if he changed his mind due to reconsidering security concerns (him being too low level and not having any actual backing, as far as we know), but they are the Basic version, cities know of it, this village had the (presumably common, possibly uncommon/rare) ingredients and the village's alchemist's master would've taught it to her in time, even if not during her village apprenticeship. Also, frustrated about the implications of MC's new surname. I'll be very dissapointed if it is Dukedom, Kingdom, Empire or Hidden Clan level of surname. The first three because it's very public and not thinking ”oh, it's this (-dom)'s main/important line” just for some suspense would be (to me) lame at this point, after all, it's too big a thing to hide and he would have to take it into account for his plans. The latter because too many characters have reacted to it and if it turns out they all have Important Background it would be weird unless they are important enough that it shakes some early-game (read as: planet level) memory of them loose, Villages are used by Big (N)Player(C)s to raise/hide talents in (in which case the earlier theory could still apply) or it's the surname of a legendary figure with no (known) descendants. Though, the “coincidence” of MC meeting important NPCs before he realizes who they are is not that big a deal if you take into account that some possible Divinity/ies took him back to the past. The memory thing is kind of awkwardly worded most of the time because it makes it seem like MC doesn't remember things that he should (how to fight and craft) when it should be more along the lines of “let's see how long it takes: my body to catch up to my memory/ my mind to get used to this (weaker) body”. I did like how he remembered the Elixirs because I can imagine having the subconscious think that he is as powerful as he remembers then realize “Wait, no, I don't even have this. So I can/have to take it again”. I may be affected by some progresion fantasy burnout so take my plot complaints with a pinch of salt.

Shouldn't the spear be broken by now? It is only a sharpened wooden stick, as far as I remember. Or do people/creatures need specific Skills?
