I think if it’s not a typo with the surnames. Her father must be surnamed Xi and her mother was surnamed Yan. Hence her brother took the Xi surname, and she took her mother’s surname Yan. To honour both families, her brother is named Xi Yan, and she is Yan Xi. This was fairly common for families to do this with their children if they had more than one child as the parents generation usually came from the one child policy era. And the mother’s side surname would be broken if all her children were surnamed after the husbands side
