Great read, with deep characters and an interesting premise. I can not wait to see how it will develop. I love the worldbuilding and the powers shown so far. Keep it up author!

I was quite surprised. This format is certainly rather unique in the world of webnovels. It manages to depict a story of flawed perspectives through the lenses of a young boy and their relationship with his mother. What starts out as misplaced anger slowly transforms into something beautiful. I applaud the author for his impression and depiction of this change that happened over the time of a life span. The writing quality itself is superb and does really fit the premise of the story. The themes are really deeply explored despite the short actual length of the novel. The characters are really lifelike albeit we only see them as passing figures that develop alongside the main characters. The drawn parallels are truly a remarkable idea to showcase the development. In the end, I can only truly pay my respect for this work. Really well done.

You have some words that sound like words here.

"Why's today's day dragging on forever? I'm so tired, and the sun's just blazing above," Soul grumbled, baffled by the never-ending daylight. "How do folks even manage to sleep in this place? It's 2 PM now, and daylight was there at 2 AM too. This is just unbelievable."

First and foremost, I love these kind of comment, so thank you for your coffee. I will give you a bit of input from my side, since the story is currently very much stuck in rewrite-purgatory. After Chapter 3, you will find my original beginnings as an author. That comes with a few plotholes and missing words. Lest we forget about the wall-of-text-syndrom to boot. But, it is still my story and one can see my improvement as a writer over the years. Now, let me answer or give more details to your questions to sate some of that curiosity. Indeed, I went with the definition of darkness that one can find on Webster or any other online service that provides definitions. It is stated to be the absence of light there. It is to be seen as something separate from the world around it, hence it was only in its small bubble/sphere, whereas the rest kept changing. That is the result of being sentient, one can not be such without having subjective tastes and ideas. As to why it did develop those, just a little bit of teasing here: Just because it says prologue, that does not imply that it is something that takes place at the "beginning" of a story. Yes, the dislike for darkness comes with the passing of time. It is the result of the order of events; and it was forced/had no other choice than to observe everything. This was the designated task. Without trying to spoil too much, the Observer is not human. They merely watched on, so no, they did not have any preferences at the time of watching, as they merely existed just to watch. It was nice to notice the tangent between good and evil, but you drew the wrong conclusion. It is more about the way the Observer is positioned compared to both of them, which was intended as a way to foreshadow the disposition of the MC. The Observer knew that light would not come back, since the task that it was given clearly followed a pattern and at the end of it, everything had been done. I tried to humanize the Observer and let it tire out from the duties given to it. The descent into the familiar black is but the consequence of accepting reality. Its obligation had been fulfilled and thus, it continued to do what it was told, even in chapters that are to follow. Just so you know the Observer is not the protagonist, but it is of utmost importance as well. Slight spoiler, the realm is special. Since it is artificial in nature. Thank you for reading and I hope that solves some of your questions.

This story is so cool! The main character is just insane, I dont swing that way, but g-damn! And the female lead is so interesting too, I can't wait to see more of their interactions. Oh, and did I mention there's steampunk?!
