GravyBiscuit - Profile

At first I enjoyed this novel. It wasn't great by an means but it wasn't bad either. It was just something to read while munching on various foodstuffs. However, the further you get the more the pace of the story grinds to an excruciating halt. Very little happens between each chapter, and the mc gets looked down on or offends someone in seemingly every other chapter. Organic conflict gets chucked out the window like a game console from a helicopter mom. The mc also becomes increasingly arrogant and the characters aren't great either. The world also doesn't feel alive and the characters are all pretty one note and bland overall. In 185 chapters not much of the world has really been explored or explained at all. Overall, it's an okay read if you can look past all that but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The translation quality is fine nowadays, though it used to be poor for a while. The updates are also occasionally quite sporadic. While the story of this novel was never great, it was at least interesting.The occasional face-slap and arrogant young master early on is fun since the new dishes keep the story at least somewhat fun to read. Unfortunately after the first world, the story drops in quality massively. The arrogant characters, nonsensical offenses, and gallery conversations go up by magnitudes. It becomes incredibly annoying, and only gets worse as it goes on. The characters themselves aren't really well fleshed out, the main character Bu Fang is quite boring, and some of the revelations about these characters are also pretty lackluster. Overall, up until the exit of the first world it's at least fun to read. After that it takes a nosedive in quality and it's very noticeable. So if you like food, read it until then, and if you really enjoy the story, continue, and if not then it's not worth it to continue in my opinion.

This is a very poor novel. Putting aside the world hopping involving famous works, the actual story itself is poor. The mc is quite stupid, the comedy when it appears is bad, and other than surviving and becoming stronger there isn't much in the way of a plot. The system is also just kind of there. Overall I can only assume this novel is rated so highly because of countless nonsensical exp posts because this novel isn't higher than 3 stars and that is being quite generous.
