Lumen doesn't know much about TOG so he also doesn't know how important Baam and the rest are to the central story. There was literally no reason for him to stay on the second floor when he had a chance of advancing further instead.
There was also no reason for the Regulars that passed the second floor to go into a full explanation of something that was likely fairly traumatizing for the group. An entire chapter dedicated to describing 100% of what happened to Baam? That sounds ridiculous.
