Don't know if this was intended or just happened but Genkai translation is limit of something where Gekai is lower world, even in anime it was always said as Gekai.

Kisuke has 2 obsessions that is research and paranoia for which he will train half to death, so he trains like that and discover ki in DxD, he only seems carefree and don't train because he not often on frontlines but when he is there(quincy arc) he shows that he was near captain-comander Yamamoto and Unohana level of powers.

The other Spirit Beasts, or Youkai as they were called here, were dismissive of Onari. He had been born without the signature tails of a Kitsune. Everyone had been expecting Onari to be another nine-tailed fox like his mother. Instead, he was a no-tailed fox.
