If you read my other spoiler comments, you'll notice it's kinda funny how people working with Fang Yuan succeed because of him, but also fail in the end because of him. Thanks to FY, Shadow Sect initially succeeded by delaying the Great Era with FY's help in killing Feng Jin Huang and not allowing her to restore Fate Gu. To prevent this, Heaven Will's uses FY with Spring Autumn Cicada and the Shadow Sect failed. After Heaven Will's success with dealing with Shadow Sect thanks to FY, its tried to kill off it's now useless pawn. However, FY altered the plans by stealing the Sovereign Fetus rather than destroying it like HW's wanted. In the end, HW's efforts in restoring the half-damaged Fate Gu resulted in a Otherworldly Demon who fully destroys Fate Gu, screwing up the Prophecy of 3 Venerable in the process as well

This is why I like this novel. Everyone is competent, both MC and villain. Well, the MC is a villain and the "villains" include righteous heroes. Still, to suddenly turn a previously useless Immortal Gu into something useful, praise for the author making proper use for everything in this novel.
