TrueGodOfExp: Short Story #5

It was a late Saturday evening, Algar who had earned himself a break was sitting within a bar, taking a drink of some stale beer.

"Ah, tastes like ****. Could never replace it though.", Algar lampooned within as he took one last gulp, emptying the cup.

As he placed the cup down on the counter, Alger felt a light tap on his shoulder. Turning around, he saw an average looking man with brown eyes and a bit of facial hair looking down at him.

"Algar? Alger Wilson?", the man said, stretching out his hand as if to offer a handshake.

Standing up, Algar hesitantly took this man's hand and shook it. "I am Algar Wilson, who are you?"

"Sherlock Moriarty, our mutual friend said you could need some help?"

Realizing who this was, Alger gave a slight smile and shook Sherlock's hand a lot more cordially. "Yes, I asked Gerhman for some help and he said you'd be much more qualified for my request. Did he say anything specific regarding the job?"

Taking his hand back after the handshake ended, Sherlock revealed a smirk as he said, "Gerhman did describe the job to me and said you were a professional captain."

Alger was shocked as he asked, "Did he really say I was a professional captain?"

"Of course not!", Sherlock said a little bit too loud as the other guests turned their eyes towards them. "He actually specifically told me to tell you that you were unbefitting of sequence 4 and should probably consider restarting on the Error pathway since you make so many newbie level mistakes. Really, it was quite a shock to see him talk that much! Also, he wanted me to remind you to get that artifact from the artisan finished otherwise he'd /personally/ help you in your change of career."

Alger could only let a blank expression dominate as Sherlock continued. "Really, how did you come to know Gerhman?"

"GERHMAN?! EVERY PIRATE FOR THEMSELVES!"

Hearing the mention of Gerhman, every single person in the bar revealed a look of horror as they rushed out. One pirate captain was even thrown back inside the bar as their crew ran off yelling, "Sorry Captain, but he'll like your characteristic better than ours! It's a Gerhman eat Pirate world out here!"

Even the bartender, who was cleaning the cups, began to shake as he muttered, "I promise I'm not a pirate, I'm not worth anything...I promise..."

Ignoring everything that happened, Sherlock went on to say. "Now, about this job of researching the Church of Storm's past. That'll be 10,000 pounds."

Well, if you want the truth, I like seeing my short stories get lots of likes. If I did as you said and just made a book, I feel like fewer people would read it and tell me they liked it. Though, I'll take you on the idea of making a book to make it easier to reread the stories. I'll think about writing it there entirely for the next short story. Hopefully, this doesn't make you think less of me. View More

Thanks for the input. I'll try to keep it in mind. A problem with writing these short stories is the character limit for the comment section. I've been forced to split up the story in two for it to fit.

Btw, I've been thinking of a joke for a bit and I'd like you to hear it.

Mr. Fool: "Amon, did you start over and switch to the Seer Pathway? I can't help but feel like I'm looking at a clown." View More

Dex2: It was nice. The part that would change might be how talkative the Fool seemed. For example, when giving instruction to the World, knowing their tacit understanding, few words would suffice. Something like,
Fool: "Backlund?"
World: "Yes, my Lord"
Fool: *nods*
World: *vanishes in a scarlet flame*
(Well, obviously I leave the making it cooler part to you 😅)

Then, when handling those gods, there are some more exotic abilities you could adopt for when he is beheaded. Say the head lands only to be discovered to be a paper figurine. But the execution of that part was rather nice. Maybe something to add the sense of horror and anger when they realize this will be a dangerous battle 🤔

TrueGodOfExp: The Fool's Show: Second part.

She quickly swung each blade at Mr. Fool's neck, beheading him instantly and cutting his spirit body. This attack was aimed to kill him.

As Mr. Fool's head hit the sand and his body falling forward, the last attack hit. This attack was from Amon. Standing on the other side of the world, Amon extended his hand and pulled, a string appearing in his hand. This attack was Amon stealing any chance of life Mr. Fool had, sealing the deal.

The otherworldly beauty backed away from the headless body and sheathed her blades before saying, "Did we kill him?"

The moment she said that the sound of clapping sounded out from behind her. Within an instant, she equipped her blades once again and turned around to witness Mr. Fool step out of the jungle that grew on the island.

"Wonderful, wonderful! Great acting everyone! I think I'll call this..."

A wide grin grew on Mr. Fool's face as he said the last line. "The Six Fools!"

TrueGodOfExp: The Fool's Show.

"From epoch to epoch, I watched Gods and Goddesses fall, heroes betrayed, sadness and despair reigning supreme. I am Mr. Fool and I have returned, never to disappear ever again."

The various eyes that witnessed Mr. Fool's descent onto the mortal world would turn their eyes away as their very being experienced extreme pain. Maggots eating their way out, bite by bite.

One unfortunate soul was unable to save themselves became a pile of squirming maggots. These maggots piled on one another and in only a few moments, Mr. Fool stood standing in that person's place, sporting a wide grin.

Back on the beach, while smiling, Mr. Fool looked down at his loyal believer, Gerhamn Sparrow.

"Ah, Gerhman, my blessed. You've done well, very well indeed. I knew reviving you was a good thing."

Gerhman had knelt on the sad, holding his hat against his chest. "I am thankful for your help, Mr. Fool. Because of you, I'm able to make sure my family is safe, even if it's from the shadows. I am forever in your debt."

Mr. Fool gave a slight shake of his head before saying, "No need for such words. I revived you and in exchange, you've helped me. It is how I work after all. Now, go, and reminisce in Buckland. You deserve it."

Gerhman was about to open his mouth to respond but only opened it up halfway before closing it and giving a slight nod.

Gerhman stood up, placing his hat on his head. He gave a slight bow towards Mr. Fool and a second later, disappeared in a flash of lightning.

Letting out a chuckle, Mr. Fool turned his attention skyward, his expression turning serious.

Raising his hands, Mr. Fool began speaking as if addressing a crowd.

"Denizens of the Spirit World, for too long have you been imprisoned, for too long you've been used as cattle, but no more!"

As Mr. Fool spoke, the very air seemed to quake, cries echoing alongside the thunder and lightning. The thunderstorm which had seemingly hit a peak continued to get stronger and turned into a hurricane.

In Buckland, the sun which stood proudly in the sky would become blocked by a dense fog, blanking Buckland in darkness. The fog and sun almost seemingly fighting one another as sparks between the two went off.

Above the dark clouds reigned the red moon.

"No more will evil gods force others into despair, no more will people be used as tools for strength! Let it be known! This era shall forever be known as Godsfall era!"

All over the globe, every Beyonder below sequence 3 felt like they were punched in the gut and felt their spirit bodies being weakly pulled in the direction of Mr. Fool.

Upon shouting that last line, Mr. Fool would suddenly find himself assaulted by several different attacks.

"Your power is forbidden here! Slow! Magnification!
First came the foul language in the attempt to weaken him.

In the sea of consciousness, Adam with 0-08 wrote in his imaginary book. "Mr. Fool will suffer the loss of his anchor and experience a loss of control, unable to counterattack."
Second, came Adam attempting to weaken Mr. Fool even further.

On Mr. Fool's body, growths of various kinds began sprouting. Bones growing beyond their normal size, puncturing his skin, veins puffing up, making him look like worms moved within him.
Third, came the destruction of his body in the attempt to cripple him.

From beneath Mr. Fool, a hole of never-ending darkness appeared and from out of it came tens of hands that grabbed onto Mr. Fool, trying to pull him down. They were not grabbing onto his physical body, but his Spirit Body.
Fourth, came the separation of his physical and spiritual body in the attempt to force him out of the mortal plane.

Fifth, from behind Mr. Fool came a woman so beautiful, it seemed almost criminal that she was even outside. Out of nowhere, she equipped two blades of such sharpness, they seemed to cut the air.

TrueGodOfExp: Part 2 of the short story. apparently it was too big to be in one comment.

"Riddle me this. What does being an actor mean and who does the actor listen to? Your answer lies within the question."

Hearing Mr. Fool's question, each member looked deep into the question but were interrupted by Mr. Fool as he said; "Let's end it here. See you all next week." Mr. Fool raised his hand and everyone was sent back to the real world.

In various parts of the world, all of the Tarot Club members thought about the last question.

'An actor is someone who pretends to be a character in order to act out a story and a story is created by a writer, but who made sure things went the right way?'

Almost at the same time, all members came to the same conclusion. "The Director!"

Alger and Cattleya who had the same thoughts when Mr. Fool's control over the pathways was revealed, shared another thought.

"Mr. Door is a blessed of Mr. Fool!"

Lord of the Mysteries · C1041

TrueGodOfExp: Continuation of the short story in chapter 1010. It could be better, but I still hope you can enjoy it!

The members of the Tarot Club were processing the information that Mr. Fool made available to them, which practically lit a sea of oil on fire within their minds. Each member had different thoughts regarding this information...no! The Truth!

Hearing that Mr. Fool had control over three pathways, Alger's mind was like a rampaging hurricane. Many thoughts went through his mind at the speed of lightning.

Fate, Apprentice, and Fool, these three pathways...what is the connection? Suddenly, Alger thought back to the prayer ritual for Mr. Fool.

The Fool that doesn’t belong to this era;
The mysterious ruler above the gray fog;
The King of Yellow and Black who wields good luck!

Each part of the prayer sent a shiver down his spine! Mr. Fool is an ancient god in the process of reviving and reclaiming his authority, Mr. Fool had control over what he could only think of as an endless world of fog, and when he thought about it, everything the Tarot Club ended in success...

The sound of thunder sounded within his mind as one thought dominated his mind, 'He planned it all! From each member joining the Club, our pathways, and those cards of blasphemy!'

Alger turned his head towards Mr. World who had recently reached sequence 2: Miracle Invoker.

'How many Blessed did Mr. Fool have, truly?' Mr. World didn't represent only Gerhman, but all of Mr. Fool's blessed. How many had he met already? How long had Mr. Fool been planning this?'

Seeing that The Hanged Man was staring at Mr. World, Klien made the fake person give him a smirk.

The Sun had similar thoughts to Alger in the sense that his vision of Mr. Fool had increased several magnitudes.

'Mr. Fool controls so many Pathways! Tyrant, Red Priest, Apprentice, Fate, Black Emperor, and the Fool pathway! That means he controls six out of the 22 Pathways! Praise Mr. Fool! The savior of the City of Silver!'

Mr. Moon, or also known as Emlyn White to those who knew him in the real world, was shocked at how many Pathways Mr. Fool controlled. Fate, Apprentice, and Fool Pathway...Had his Ancestor predicted this and gave him the holy task of gaining favor with Mr. Fool? Truly, our Ancestor is divine!

Cattleya dug deep into the meaning of Mr. Fool's control over the three pathways and came to the same conclusion as Alger that Mr. Fool had been planning for a long, long time and his threads were in every corner of the world of beyonders...

Audrey was very happy that her question had allowed her to gain a higher understanding of Mr. Fool and although it was only three words, she knew that she underestimated Mr. Fool! She thought Mr. Fool had control over only one Pathway beside the cards, but this was completely beyond her expectations!

Fors, upon learning that Mr. Fool controlled the apprentice pathway couldn't help have conflicting thoughts...She knew that Mr. Fool held no malice, or at least, she hoped, and she wouldn't be affected like those that worshiped the fallen creator...However, what did that mean for Mr. Door who she suspected to be a King of Angels? Before Fors knew, however, she let a "Why" escape her lips. She instinctually covered her mouth with her hands and grew extremely tense as she felt the eyes of the other members gaze at her.

Then, she heard Mr. Fool's voice and her ******* seemed to simply wash away.

"If you have a question, ask away. I'm not picky at what question are asked."

Hearing Mr. Fool's thoughts, Fors worked up the courage and with a gulp, she asked, "Mr. Fool, if you control the Apprentice Pathway, why does Mr. Door exist? Isn't he a King of Angels?"

Once her question was finished, Mr. Fool gave her a smirk and clapped his hands together which echoed in the endless world of fog.
