Honestly I didn't tell you what I did for sympathy. I did it so other people reading this can see why this whole arc makes no sense to me. And why it infuriates me seeing people say what you are right now. This isn't a wake up call, it's just traumatizing. It's like killing a war bets best friend right in front of him to help him get over his ptsd. It's not a solution, it's just sick. It makes me realize how many people have never experienced actual trauma that they believe more of it solves the problem. It only makes it worse. I shared my experience to help you realize that. But it seems instead you just thought I was wrong despite knowing the actual way things play out from experience. Anyway I stopped reading this book, I'm making these comments for future readers to help them understand from the point of view of someone who understands the mindset of characters like this. Getting a fresh perspective on things is important to make a more informed decision. View More

DogMeatTasty: Not exactly sure why you are telling me you have this problem. I'm not your parents or therapist. What I am trying to say his Lith needs a wake up call from seeing everyone as tools he can control. I don't know your details of having this problem and I don't wish to know. Lith gained this sociopathic discorder from his abusive father and the death of his former brother. In Lith's setting you have the ability to become stronger than anyone because of plot armor.

I don't know if you have abusive parents or death of sibling. If you do I aplogize in advance. What Lith has is what he experienced, what you have told be so far is you have an actual disorder. You have no fix except being locked up, Lith can be fixed and the best way is a wake up call.

I feel the need to clarify that I'm the same as Lith in this regard. I'm obsessed with controlling every variable and knowing every little thing I can. However the wake up call you spoke of doesn't solve the problem. How do I known? Because when I was made to realize that none of my actions mattered and I had no control over anything in life I didn't suddenly say "wow you're right, I'll stop worrying." I just stopped caring. I no longer feel strongly about anything. I have become a recluse that literally has one conversation a week, who sees people so rarely that if I died right now I might not even be found for weeks. This kind of wake up call you speak of doesn't fix people like Lith. It just caused them to snap and give up. View More

DogMeatTasty: It was by the request of Ry to keep it a secret he is alive. Lith obsessive disorder of needing to keep everything under his control and seeing others as tools to control is way over the top. He needs a wake up call NOW or if he looses not just the Ry but Trista, Rena, Raaz(Father), Elina(Mother), and more. He will turn into an abomination and be put down(in which I highly doubt since plot armor).

You know I spent a long time waiting for them to get together. But now I'm just disappointed at how annoyingly center stage it has become. Before their relationship was low key and intimate now it's all about pleasure and who is the man in the relationship. It also doesn't help that the author sees the need to mention how manly she is and how Lucien responds to that all the time. View More

I'm starting to get annoyed by how aggressive he is. Even ghosts he is aware are good get their faces smashed by hammers at the flick of a wrist by this guy. Can't he be less psychotic? View More

I'm done with this book. Lith's first life is nothing more than an excuse to make an edgelord. Everyone in that world is a manipulative piece of trash. Everyone is a hypocrite who only cares about themselves. This story seems to have forgotten what the point was. Now it's all about relationships and edgy drama. Every person in his life is basically telling him. He is wrong for giving a **** about them. He sacrificed everything and yet they pay him back with ridicule and lies. I'd just abandoned them at this point. They have manipulated him into believing he was wrong, without actually giving a single **** for how he felt or why he did what he did. It's disgusting. I feel sorry for Lith and empathize with him and the story seems to be blaming him. These people may genuinely love him, but their type of care and affection is toxic and will ruin him. View More

I'm dropping out for a while. The name of the story is supreme magus. But it doesn't feel like Lith will ever reach that. On top of that his obsession with screwing Phloria is getting creepy and annoying. Honestly he seems to be so obsessed with it that the story has to bring it up everytime they interact. It's like he can't talk to her without drooling over her. And more then that everytime Solus talks I want to break her over a rock. I can't stand her after what she did. She even has the gall to mock him? Even if it's just her being playful I don't really have the ability to give a crap. It just pisses me off. Lith does need some time to sort his life out, hence why I'm not totally against this arc. The problem is that up until now Lith is just being dragged around and it's boring. It makes this emotional lull in the story so unsatisfying because the whole time I'm just waiting for Lith to do something cool and actually accomplish something after hundreds of chapters of reading about him being so freaking weak despite everything he has going for him. It's like the author is terrified of giving him even a single inch in terms of strength in fear of power creep and it shows. Anyway I'll be back in a week or two. View More

Honestly I really want the death visions thing to just be in his head and not some tribulation. Not everything has to be some grand design of someone or something else. Sometimes stuff just happens you know? Like your mind breaking down from the realization that nothing you do can save those you love, in turn making you see the repeated deaths of all those around you as hallucinations because you're just that broken. I mean I see hallucinations all the time. Am I going through some kind of tribulation I didn't know about? View More

daniwalh: I know the Lith needs somenone like him to balance him out, but am I the only one that thinks Lady Ernas has been left unchecked for too long? She's the only character we've seen who hasn't suffered any setbacks....

The way Lith took this is perfect. He didn't magically get better after hearing protector died. In fact now he is much worse, I'm very happy he didn't play into all these so called friends hands by playing along with their lies. As for him and Yurial I'm excited for their relationship to develop. Having Lith and him talk things out and get the chance to vent properly while giving one another someone to hear them out could genuinely help. Definitely happy about this chapter overall. I'm still a bit dissapointed that he accepted that his failed attempt wasn't pointless since it basically was, but I'll accept it more as him trying to stay positive for the sake of his own mental health. Frogene: As it stands people are selfish. People do everything for themselves in the end. If someone is generaly a good person to everyone they meet, then they are being a good person not for someone else, but for themselves. Even the Christian bible acknowledges this in the Golden rule "do unto others what you want them to do back to you." In the gand scheme of things "life, the universe and everything" nothing we or in this case lith does matters at all. In the end everything will end in the heat death of the universe or some other equally deadly event. So I would argue that meaning is what we make it. If lith chooses that trying to save protector had meaning then to him it will, and in the end isnt that the only opinion that matters to lith.

Daoist689073: The author obviously has absolutely no idea what it's like to go through these sorts of traumas, and if on the off chance they DO, they they very clearly did not deal with any of these things in a healthy or realistic way. The way the author is portraying these feelings and how everyone around lith is acting is so wildly disconcerting that it completely takes me out of the story. I just hope this moves on quickly and forgets about the miscarriage these past few chapters have been.

That's a genuinely inspirational statement you made. It also helps that it plays into my nihilism with the whole nothing matters thing. I'm not really gonna comment about the rest though. Honestly I've spent an unhealthy amount of time thinking about this novel the last few days and I'd rather just not think about it anymore. I just wanted to make sure you knew I enjoyed reading your comment immensely. View More

Prenthaom: To everyone saying Lith needs to be broken more, **** you. The solution to mental trauma isn't more mental trauma. It's to talk about the problem, and then fix it. I can tell you that experiencing trauma over and over again only breaks you. It makes you give up. It isn't some cute to past trauma. If it was why would we have people studying how to fix past trauma when we could just go around abusing abuse victims or raping rape victims? That's basically what your saying right now. So **** you.

This is exactly how I expected Lith to respond and I like it. The only thing keeping me from really loving it is that for some reason this story implies that being broken somehow makes you inhuman. As someone with irreparable emotional scars I find this personally insulting, but I understand the reasoning. So far I get the feeling that nobody is really trying to understand Lith in his life. They just want to change him. It's just sad, Solus wants to make him move on from his brothers death without directly solving that specific problem, his mother lied and said that his attempt to save Protector was meaningful when in reality it wasn't. What would be worse, him knowing he has a chance to save people if he arrives in time, or him not knowing and futily trying every way he can think maybe at the cost of his life next time? They seem to think his failure will inspire him to let go. But who is to say it won't make it worse like with his brother? This chapter proves that they don't know Lith like they think they do. Especially Solus. The only way to solve a problem is at its root. Not by making them suffer more. View More

daniwalh: I was afraid of this since protector decided to leave. It's all being tied up in a neat little bow, but that doesn't work for Lith. Him being cowed by his fathers' weak authority feels sadly forced to me, and a situation in where Lith, being who he is, starts being ganged up on after that much trauma would result in far more than the slap on the wrist that he gave them. Sorry to say, this didn't feel in character.

Prenthaom: Still withholding my opinions on Lith's situation. But even as someone born in the literal opposite situation as Yurial I understand his feelings. That suffocating feeling of being unable to change the date your born with and being at the mercy of the uncaring adults around you is horrible and will always leave a joke inside you just as bad as Lith's. I think people don't realize how ****ty it is to never experience the love of your own family and never control your own life.

He knows he can't bring people back from the dead. He said it himself about the child. But he CAN protect people. Now he will feel like he can't even do that. And yes she did do it to make herself feel better. She justifies her actions as not actually lying. She is just telling him a partial truth. But I'd rather her directly lie, at least this way she can't just say she never really liked to begin with and play it off. She's just manipulating him right now and it's disgusting. The least she can do is feel like garbage and go all in. View More

KingSitri: She isn't making herself feel better but honouring Protector's wishes. The only thing she wants is Lith's well being even if it means lying to him. If Lith feels like he can bring back the dead, he will never stop making dangerous plans or risking his life believing anything can be undone with power. Atleast now he has a chance to cherish those he already have as long he has them and that's what Solus wants too.

I'm going to withhold my judgment from now on about this emotional Arc is over from now on, but my previous opinion still stands. I'm not a fan of Solus lying, even if it's half truths. That just makes it worse, because she is just making excuses to make herself feel better. If she is going to crush Lith like this then the least she can do is suck it up and feel like **** for it. Either way though I'm still going to support this series no matter the direction it takes or how annoyed I get at it. I'm way too emotionally invested in Lith at this point. Thanks pretty much entirely from the authors great writing skills. View More

Honestly I understand what you mean. I don't really know how to describe exactly what I mean or why I believe what I said. It comes from personal experience and I don't really want to get into it for obvious reasons. But basically people like Lith are weak deep down. You don't really recover or become stronger from trauma like that. Eventually you can no longer handle it and break. Nobody can put that back together, and if they do you're never the same. View More

Morok: It's how life is. People use others for their benefits or just for some potential future needs. Also, Lith isn't god, not a genius, hasn't unfathomable knowledge... How he can counter all those older and more experienced people?
While I can agree, that Lith can break, it may take different forms, and the care of his family and friends can mend the fractures before it will break completely.

I'm starting to get bored of all this manipulation and hypocrisy. When it happens occasionally it shows the flawed but functional nature of human beings that allow society and interpersonal relationships to work. Every character that can directly affect Lith's life seems to feel the need to manipulate everyone around them, the queen, Scarlett, Jirni, even Protector, and if she follows the plan Solus as well. On top of that Lith is too weak to do anything to stop it. The writing is spot on and I can see why everyone loves Jirni, even I think she is awesome as the first character to not judge Lith to be a monster, but when everybody kicks Lith into the dirt and he can do nothing about it over and over it loses all meaning to see it. At this point Lith ha basically never really won. All his victories were meaningless in his overall journey or prove he was right in hating humanity and wishing to discard attachments like family. If Lith is told Protector is dead and doesn't self destruct and come to hate the world and everything else it would be the least believable reaction I could imagine. All people have a breaking point, if Lith doesn't snap after everything that has happened to him, then I doubt anything could break him and he truly is a monster. No amount of family or friends would be able to stop it when someone like Lith snaps, eventually the problem is too big to fix with kind words and hugs. View More

Even though this is annold chapter and has little to do with this subject i have to say it, with how often this character smacks his lips i'm surprised he hasn't torn them apart. Doing it once or twice is fine but he smacks his lips like forty times a day, there is no way you can convince me he hasn't messed up his lips. I feel pain just doing it once or twice in a row let alone how often this guy does it. View More
