I think she is a follower of Johto's Sprout Tower, in the anime this Bellsprout seemed to know some type of martial art. She probably learned from these monks.

He went to the worst house for a guy like him to make friends, it seemed to be one of his goals. Not only is he a half-blood, Snape himself hates his existence.

Slytherin was known as the house of Death Eaters because Tom Riddle was reputed to be the heir of Slytherin. That meant that Harry was practically secluded from the rest of the houses.
