Someone posted spoiler that it is at the end of volume 4. Considering average of 250 chapters per volume, it wIll be around 500 - 22 (volume 3 published chapter) - 10 (estimated chapters needed for revenge plot) = 468 chapters. With two released every day, it will take 234 days... Less than a year... View More

BluebellBerry: Ah... I expect it'll take another 1k+ chapters and a year or two for us to get some concise answers then 😅 better suit up for the long haul with these webnovels!

Anyway, there is no point for us to continue this discussion as both of us involve some speculation in our theory. We can only wait until the arc when Klein is fighting Ince on its own. View More

BluebellBerry: No, I'm saying that even though the quill is a double-edged blade and doesn't intentionally help Ince, once the story has begun, it needs to develop in accordance to it's own rules, some of which would definitely aid Ince. Otherwise, no one would take the risk of using it in the first place. Yes, it has it's own agenda. But the flow of the story can most certainly benefit it's user, as we've seen when Ince obtained both the Saint's ashes and the umbilical cord (even though he lost it in the end).

Klein at the moment has no way of dealing with Ince, and it's questionable whether it knows about the gray fog. The other grade 0 artifacts only seem to know when they come into direct contact with Klein.

There are also obvious limitations on what it can and cannot not influence. The quill can't account for everything and has a limited degree of range. Trissy meeting with Klein is the most recent occurrence. In the eyes of Ince, the alias Sherlock Moriarty has no real power and can't pose much of a threat no matter how you look at it. A low-end beyonder with limited connections and poor luck. Klein himself was only deemed as a hindrance Arc1. And there was no contact between "Sherlock Moriarty" and Azik previously, so Ince was completely in the dark about his matters. Why would he attempt to kill off Klein via meteor instead of a more natural accident?

The meteor lines start with "a seemingly ordinary quill wrote" with no indication of whether it was being manned by Ince or not. The next chapter shows it stopped writing on it's own before Ince took hold. It's safe to assume the previous lines were written by the quill while the latter (transporting Klein and Azik) were by Ince. This adding to the fact that the two having different writing styles, it's somewhat easier to differentiate when the quill is in control and when Ince is.

I would think that a more easy way to differentiate whether a line is written by Ince or the quill is to see whether Ince is holding the quill or not. Assume that your speculation is right and the quill have auto-corrective function to steer a plot towards the the owner initial plan, Ince doesn't have to hold the quill during chapter 459 and chapter 210.

Meteor may seem unnatural under normal circumstances, but not when a large population of people are about to die from smog. Ince intention at that moment is to create a sure kill incident regardless of the target's survivability asap so that he can focus on Trissy (it's questionable whether Ince knows about Klein sequence at that time and we know that there are some sequence specialize on surviving ). A more natural accident is possible, but not when his main target constantly breaking his arrangement and need more attention.

As for what is written before Ince took the quill to start writing, I've already given my point. It's writing what actually happened in reality after someone broke an arrangement. This can be proven in both Chapter 459 and 210. View More

If I understand correctly, you were comparing the writing style of 008 during the time when Ince was fighting with the writing style of the line regarding the meteor, as a prove that the latter is written by 008. So I'm actually answering that the latter can also be written by Ince as he can write in any manner, and include a satirical tone. View More

BluebellBerry: I mean it's possible but the quill was writing on it's own at the time. Ince was being pulling into what I think might be the spirit world? Would he be in the mood to narrate his own chances of survival anyway? It's really not within his characterization

Lord of the Mysteries · C471

Writing style can be influenced easily depending on the writer's mood. Considering the main target Trissy constantly broke out of his arrangement, it's nature that Ince will feel frustrated and writing something satirical when killing a "sidekick" is not totally impossible. View More

BluebellBerry: In chapter 476, after the quill notes Ince's situation, it ends with "Yes, this number is extremely accurate"; a similar writing style as the meteor incident with Klein. We know that Ince isn't controlling the quill at this point in time. And it narrates in an almost satirical fashion.

Lord of the Mysteries · C471

Yes. The quill can write on its own, but it has its own will and objective. According to Azik, it will constantly target its owner and try to kill him. That is why even if it notice that Sherlock = Klein, it will not write it down to inform Ince, "unless it involves something that it cannot avoid or explain". Therefore, it has different motive compared to Ince, and is unlikely to help him.

Also, Ince who work as a mastermind who plot everything, his first priority is actually avoid contact in any manner with his target. This is to avoid any possibility of someone who are targeting him use a bait to lure him out. Therefore, arranging Klein and Azik to appear in front of him is actually a more unfavorable option compare to a simple meteor. He has to resort to this unfavorable option because simple meteor cannot kill Azik, and once Azik took Klein along and escape out of Backlund through the spirit world (which probably only need a few minutes) , they will be out of range of influence of 0-08. On the other hand, a meteor shower hitting a forest is actually more easy to cover up. At that time, the demoness is about to start her plan for smog massacre. The authorities will be occupied to stop the descend of True Creator and no one will really notice thing like some unlucky detective killed by a meteor an hour or so earlier. Meteor attack sounds catchy and attract attention at first, but is not really the case considering the circumstances at that moment. View More

BluebellBerry: Idk if you've caught up on lately chapters, but it's known that the quill can write events itself and direct the story, not just record what actually happened like when it recapped the Captain incident Arc1. I'm not sure if it's sentient like the mirror, Arrodes, or contains an empty will left behind by some angel. It could also be similar to the magical key contaminated by Mr. Door.

Lord of the Mysteries · C471

The content of what is written by the quill wasn't shown, but from Tingen arc, we can see that whenever a coincidence is broke, what actually happened in reality will be written. So it's more reasonable to think that the quill wrote down things like "Azik Eggers suddenly arrives on the scene to save Sherlock Moriarty from the attack". This can only written by the quill because it is impossible that this line is written by Ince.

Btw, his name is Ince, not Inca. View More

BluebellBerry: "the quill was no longer writing on its own..."

It can be inferred that the previous lines weren't by Inca's wishes. He only summoned Klein after that little debacle to finish him off personally and quietly. That's more in line with his character. He doesn't exactly have a flare for dramatics like writing "Yes, just happened!"

Lord of the Mysteries · C471

According to your theory, the meteor attack is written by the quill because of its auto-corrective ability once a story is started. But the next chapter already shows that Ince is the one doing the writing after Klein survive the meteor. So there's no auto-corrective ability involved. Chapter 459 also shows that Ince is holding the quill when Trissy broke his arrangement. View More

BluebellBerry: But it doesn't specify who wrote the meteor line to kill Klein

Lord of the Mysteries · C471

It is written very clearly in the next chapter that Ince picked up the quill and start writing, to steer the story towards his favor. View More

BluebellBerry: It's not mentioned who exactly is doing to writing; Inca or the quill. I'm more inclined to believe it was the quill since action was taken immediately and in a ridiculous fashion. Inca tries to maintain a lower profile and uses more subtle, roundabout ways to achieve his goals since he doesn't want to alert any high-end beyonders. Having a huge meteor to nix his opponent isn't really his style 😅 He has no need to use such a showy, unplanned, and brash method to kill Klein and draw attention to it. On the other hand, we see the quill's "unique" sense of humor in later chapters 🤣

From the next chapter, it is shown that Ince (Inca) is the one who use the quill to steer the story towards his favor, after the quill wrote down on its own what has actually happened, when the story doesn't go according to plan due to Klein's interference. I agree that the quill has a will of its own. And because of the outrageous coincidence (the freaking meteor) written by Ince in the story, he was worrying that he will receive a pay back from the quill, which actually happened in the next few chapters. View More

BluebellBerry: Right not to help Inca. But the story it creates can't be arbitrarily written. Even though Klein was a unforeseen hindrance, Captain was still meet with his end despite overcoming his slight corruption. His death differed slightly from the one planned but occured regardless.

It clearly has it's own guidelines and rules to follow. In fact, it might even write itself if the wielder of the quill decides to abandon the story. Just speculation for now but it has to bring an "end" to whatever story is started. And in a way that makes sense despite any twists and turns. In this aspect, it's kinda similar to the ceremony Old Neil used to "repay his debt". A series of "coincidences" led to a desired outcome.

Both times, Klein was an unexpected factor. But once he entered as a main character/player, he was strung around like a puppet to steer the story on. Both times when his actions hindered the plot, he was made to get rid of. That frickin meteor tho 😂😅 We'll only be sure of the specific rules later but I'd count these as pretty clear hints.

ResidentialPsycho: No. How am I rich? I had to skip dinner for a month and drop all other novels on this site in order to afford Privilege for one month. I bought Privilege the first time to support the author, but that month ended at the climax of Klein's battle. After thinking hard about whether to buy it again, I bought it after six hours of going back and forth in my thoughts (farewell, dinner!). If it didn't end at a climax, I wasn't planning to buy it again.

I'm considering stopping reading the current Privilege chapters at a less-exciting chapter, so I don't get caught in that trap again. There's a ten-day difference for everyone else to catch up, so the wait is pretty brutal...

The quill has no reason to help Ince to "steer" the story back to the track favorable to Ince. When a planned "coincidence" is broke, the quill will write down what actually happened on its own. But it has no obligation or intention to reorganize the story to help Ince. View More

BluebellBerry: No it was mentioned that the quill has a will of it's own before. Not everything can be controlled by Inca. Most likely, Inca can only start the story, but when outside interferences aka Klein happen, it tries to steer itself back on track.

I think the symbol on his chair hints something about his sequence. As we know, each symbol represents the pathway of each chair owner. So an incomplete secrecy (pupil-less eye) combine with incomplete change (contorted line) might be a hint.

My current interpretation is: "secrecy" should be anti-divination and anti-prying because seer pathway is expert on divination and secret prying. This passive ability is actually a trait of the grey fog as things hidden there cannot be found even by a God, and we knew by now that the grey fog has something to do with seer pathway. "Changes" is a bit hard to interpret and right now I can only think of change of fate through divination and subsequent abilities from sequence 8 to sequence 5. View More

excelss: So, I have been thinking about Klein's pathway.
Sequence 9 Seer - 8 Clown - 7 Magician - 6 Faceless - 5 Nimblewright Master
And at first sight it seems a circus pathway, but ..... at sequence 9 he can see the future. At 8 he can fight proficiently and control his muscles, facial muscles included. At 7 he can shoot without a gun and create illusions, also his own clothes. At 6 change face and body structure. Ant at 6 control others????
So, isn't he the perfect spy???? Infiltrate and organization, get information, assassinate evildoers ....
Mmmmmh he is James Bond!!! Yes!! His name is Bond, James Bond!!! XD

But the King of Yellow and Black always has bad luck... 😂😂😂 View More

Bogart: I still think his pathway has to do somehow with luck which is tied to fate. Fate as we know, is the monster pathway. The reason I think it's luck is the method he came to the world, and even his own personal rituals all point towards luck "The king of yellow and black who wields good luck" the final sequences have something to do with miracle making. Luck can be seen as a subversion of fate. You can change fate through luck, and make miracles. The pathways indeed are closely related. As always, I could be way off.

JPSolutions: Absolutely outstanding novel, it might be very best on this site.
You can tell the author is very passionate about it with a lot of attention to detail and excellent worldbuilding skills, a well crafted and developed power system complimented by stellar characters and interactions.
The translator also does an excellent job keeping the updates consistent with very high standards and quality, and even pleasing us readers with extra updates sometimes.
In conclusion very recommended to every one, it may start a bit slow but you will end it loving for sure, i would rate it 7/5 and say it deserves a much higher ranking

Enjoy!

DDaniel: Ahh it’s so nice to come across a well translated story, I didn’t even realise how discontent I was getting with my normal fair of stories until I read this one, no syntax errors, no wrongly used English idioms, (That I noticed anyway) soo satisfying.

I also love the setting, it’s a very rich and fully described world. Introduced skilfully and tactfully, fully in keeping with what the main character is currently going through.

There are the beginnings off very promising character development, and they are already starting to become fully fleshed out and vibrant. Most of the time it’s subtly introduced, but on a couple of occasions it’s maybe been a bit blatant, but never inappropriate for the situation.

It’s really too soon to say as to the update stability, and story development, but so far so good. Keep up the good work.

Thank you very much for the story.

Heavenly_Earthworm: This is the absolute best translated novel I have ever read. I've been on sites like Webnovel, WuxiaWorld, Gravity Tales, Fanmily, RoyalRoad etc for a couple years now. Webnovels are a tough market, and with monsters like Teng Jia, IET, Er Gen, Cuttlefish who authored this book can easily be ranked right up there with him. As a heavy reader of all fantasy Novels, the only book this can compare to, to me is The Name of the Wind, a massively successful western novel. These are as of now my two favorite contemporary books, and I am excited and ecstatic to see the rest of this book. The Lord of Mysteries lacks absolutely nothing. Character development is insanely good and each character will rip your heart out. World background and development are right up there with Tolkien. The plot is unforced and extremely intricate with many relationships subtle but obvious once they're revealed to the reader. All in all the best read in a long time. My one and only complaint about the novel is that I feel the aspects of his transmigration are a little unsuitable with the flavor of the novel as it drags on. Humor turns dark very, VERY, fast.

Thanks for sharing. It's great to be able to see story from both sides. Too bad pm is not available here, as it is more appropriate for us to message in private regarding this topic.

From my understanding, Hong Kong issue start with the people there do not trust that judicial independent exist in China because it lacks transparency. It escalates later and involves people demanding more democracy freedom. Either way, I think their protest has already fail because they have resort to violence, which put them in a wrong position.

Btw, just a reminder for you: please refrain from talking bad about Muslim and Christian here, because there are a lot of them here. I'm not one of them so I don't really care but I saw many Southeast Asian here who are mostly Muslim. View More

lich_king: This is a major issue in big government. Government has high authority to control many things, but if people feel something is not comfortable, they would blame the government in their first thought no matter what is the real issue.

For the law issue, actually both government and people are not used to strict execution.

For example, previously some police accidently shot people, even if the situation is a drunk/drug man attacking police after long warning. People would just blame the police. They just thought the victim is not a true criminal but get killed. And these kind of story always ended by dismissing that police

So in China, except chasing dangerous criminal, in most cases police do not dare to carry a gun. Because most cases, as long as he shot and get reported by newspaper, he would lost his job.

That is also why those THUG dare to use religion as shield to do anything. Their church member would always support them no matter they break secular law or not, so their voice is strong enough to keep government out of their affair (actually quite similar in EU and US)

For the Hong-Kong issue. Twenty years, the central government did not collect one peny tax from HongKong and gave huge amount of preferential policy.

To keep Hong Kong prosperous, central government gave lots of restriction to nearby cities like Shenzhen Guangzhou to make Hong Kong more forcompetitive. For example, central government do not approve too many international airlines for other city to make Hong Kong airport more attractive. Most people in South China need to transfer flight in Hong Kong to travel outside. Hong Kong earns a lot, but Hong Kong people thought mainland people are locust.

However those benifits are earned by large companies in Hong Kong, and poor people is living miserable live. Central government do not have ability to control the pilicy there but people there think it is the fault of central government.

This time the blasting fuse is the extradition treaty. What a funny thing, Hong Kong is part of China. Hong kong has extradition treaty with US EU, but do not have extradition treaty with mother country.

Do you know the mainstream opinion in china Internet? We regard them as ungrateful souls like those THUG. Some thug use religion as shield, and Hong Kong use the preference from central government as shield

We are also dissatisfied with government, and we want central government just ingore those ungrateful souls and abolish all preferential policies. I do not care whether a bunch of ungrateful souls think they are chinese or not. I just want central government stop using my tax as their subsidy

Without the protection from central government, it is only a matter of time to let GuangZhou-Shenzhen great bay area to override the position of Hong Kong.

I've always want to hear story from another side. Thanks for sharing here.

From what you said, it seems your government are weak in law enforcement... If people protest, they give them what they want. If people report, the ban a book without checking. I can understand the later as they don't want to waste man power on minor things like webnovel. But the former seems kinda ridiculous because it'll make protesting happen everywhere in China, not just Hong Kong. View More

lich_king: you totally do not understand the behavior of government censors. They do not care content, they care about trouble.

Most historic books are mocking governments. Actually it is a thousands-year-tradition that intelligentsia use history to mock current government. But if not too many people report these books, the government censors just do not care.

One of my favorite book 《临高启明》mock government for ten years (yes, this book is not finished in 10 years and roselle wrote about this book in his diary). This book is so famous in China Internet that everybody know it is using the first decades of CCP to mock current CCP. The author is a teacher in CCP party school (school for high level government officers).

This book lives for ten years and no censor care about it. However its fans has conflict with other groups in Internet. And those people frequently report this book to government for revenge, thus it is banned recently (actually author is still writing in other platform, just Qidian is afraid of trouble and hide it). And several other books with same topic is still in Qidian.

Do you know which kind of books are banned most frequently? Books with erotic content. Because most parents in China are very conventional and regards books with erotic content as mental drugs on their children. Now you cannot see any description or hints about XXOO things in Qidian. No government censor can handle anger from a bunch of convention parents

lich_king: https://***.google.com/amp/s/www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1989-05-12-mn-3382-story,amp.html

Actually that author was given a suspended death sentence. And related editors/cencors got several sentence of life imprisonment.

Although it is quite old story, it scared many editors and authors.

In Qidian, many author dare to mock the government, but few dare to mock Islam and Christianism.

And if many report to the government that some book insults Islam or Christ. The government would actually not spend time to investigate. They just ban the book and punish the publisher to avoid more issues.
