If I would be her, I would want to know more about the illness of his mother and would figure it out. I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard for her to find out. She sounds so concerned about it I'm sure she would like to help more as just with money. At least then she would be sure that this is a reason for him to have pressure to rise in ranks, not any hidden ones. Like that he is just not capable on his own and has probably hidden means to be with her. There is always a reason why women are insecure being with a man. Do we really know that she didn't put any time into the company?!? Before she left she was one of the best in school and was supposed to go to college for a business degree. Also we know she was the last time in the company when she was 18 before she left. I have the feeling her dad showed her some things and let her somehow be part of the company before everything went down.
